Lois Tverberg, popular Christian author of the “Rabbi Jesus” book series, shares the story of why she left her career as a college biology professor to write about the Jewish context of Jesus full time.
It begins with her struggle to answer a critical question for many Christians. Did the historical Jesus actually claim to be the Messiah and Son of God, or was this just made up by later Gentile followers? During the 1980s, the "Jesus Seminar" filled the headlines with this theory. Her college religion professors were saying the same thing.
Ten years later, Lois discovered a group of Jewish and Christian scholars who showed that just the opposite was true. Jesus' words were filled with bold claims to be the Messiah and Son of God, but he expressed this through allusions to the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). New Testament scholars who were ignorant of this well-known Jewish teaching style completely missed the implications of his words.

Lois Tverberg, popular Christian author of the “Rabbi Jesus” book series, shares the story of why she left her career as a college biology professor to write about the Jewish context of Jesus full time.

Today I would like to introduce you to a mother in the faith. She has been a believer for over 66 years and she talks to us about leadership, lessons learned and what she would tell herself if she could talk to the 50 year old Betty today.

She is a mother, a grandmother, a cancer survivor, and author, but the title she is most proud of is –Christian. For Dr. Betty Ruth Price, affectionately known as “Dr. Betty” by the Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC) community, everything in her life is rooted in faith.
A devout believer since childhood, Dr. Betty, who was born in a small town in Mississippi and raised in Los Angeles, co-founded the 8,000-member CCC with her late husband, Apostle Frederick K.C. Price. Today, the iconic church is shepherded by their son, Dr. Frederick K. Price.
At 89, she is a graceful and timeless woman whose passion to teach the Word of God and share her testimony, has taken her around the world. Yet, no matter where she is, she turns to the Bible daily and extends her faith to God’s people through community service. Gratitude and godliness come naturally to the elegant former First Lady.
Dr. Betty is the mother of four, grandmother of 10, and great-grandmother of seven expresses a profound affinity for the most vulnerable among us – children and the homeless.

You may have to consider the following statement said by one parent...'I may have caused the problem, ignored the problem, cooperated with the problem, and helped to perpetuate the problem.' I hope I raise children that feel the way I do. If they know the difference between right and wrong? Then do the right thing I say!
Final thought:
‘One thing that I learned in life is that the basis for my disappointments is not what I found in others, but what I expected! I have learned to delight myself in the Lord and allow HIM to give me the desires of my heart.’
He never disappointments [“Delight yourself also in the LORD and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”] Ps. 37:4

a. Judgment--When he is NOT given space to grow in his judgment. This shows him that you don't trust his judgment. He doesn't want to look incompetent. Yes, men must step up in this area for the good of their family. If this behavior from a woman is demonstrated she must ask herself: Where did I learn my disrespectful behavior from?? Parent, social media, music, etc., Have I recognized, taken responsibility, repented, renounced, restored or replaced my attitude for healing and wholeness to God and my spouse?
b. Abilities....respect how we lead our families, NOT constantly reminding us of past mishaps. We are not YOUR children. Learn how to communicate with grace and kindness (Proverbs 31:26)
c. Proper communication....when there is disrespect a man will shut down in this area. He will either dry up or blow up, withdraw and put-up walls of defense. Never
disrespect him in public or in front of the children and family. You must have rules, boundaries, respect and wise biblical discernment in your relationship. Never
saying words like, 'I did it without your behind', 'Be a man and show me what a real man is like', or 'You got to work for this, this is my body'
Finally,
d. A wife must learn to 'adapt' to her OWN husband's journey of the marriage and the legacy that will be left to their off spring (Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord)

b. With grace and mercy of his flaws, not accepting disrespect from him. Establishing healthy boundaries between both of you

Introduction: Years ago, a 17-year-old boy graduating from high school did one of three things: he got a job, joined the Army, or went to college. If he went to college, then once he got out (by graduating or otherwise) he got a job or joined the military. The point is that at 18, ready or not, a boy was expected to be an adult man.
Today, male adulthood has been postponed. Adolescence now extends through college. It is common to see late-twenties, early-thirties men dress, act, and talk like teenagers. Sadly, instead of embracing their roles as grown adult men, they live as overgrown, self-indulgent, self-centered children. Their masculinity is postponed, and their adulthood is deferred
Importance: To demolish this mindset and conditioning we believe that change occurs over a lifetime by intentionally coming along side men who are willing to be trained, mentored, and encouraged to live biblically. At the age of 15, Kofi was accepted into the University of Akron School of Music’s Jazz Program, making him the youngest African-American pianist to ever be accepted into a collegiate-level jazz program at the institution. In the 36 years of his professional life that followed, Mr. Scott provided executive leadership in a plethora of business scenarios. Without the Gospel, I am only projecting behavioral modification. Changes of the heart must trump mere change of behavior. So, the goodness of God through the gospel must trump all other thinking in me and in every area of my life.
As a father or a mentor of someone I must learn to think from a biblical perspective for my life? How? By studying and searching for Kingdom principles with help of the Holy Spirit within as HE confirms the Word as it speaks to us. It is God’s desire that his living Word impacts every area of your life to show off his glory and the proof of a living savior called Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit is waiting to help guide us but He will never do the work of walking out the gospel in our lives through us, that is only done by living daily by Faith and not by the circumstances around us. According to John 14: 16…Jesus told his disciples before he left this earth…’I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever’

I have learned the hard way many times that it is not within my power to place the divine teachings of HIS wisdom, grace, mercy and salvation directly into someone's heart. All that I can do is place them on the surface of the heart and demonstrate the principle of the Kingdom that Jesus my redeemer taught so that when the heart breaks they will drop in because of HIS love for mankind.

Years ago, a 17-year-old boy graduating from high school would do one of three things: get a job, join the Army, or go to college. If he would go to college, then once he got out (by graduating or otherwise), he would get a job or join the military. The point is that at 18, ready or not, a boy was expected to be an adult man. Today, male adulthood has been postponed. Adolescence now extends through college. It is common to see late-twenties, early-thirties men dress, act, and talk like teenagers. Sadly, instead of embracing their roles as grown adult men, they live as overgrown, self-indulgent, self-centered children. Their masculinity is postponed, and their adulthood is deferred. This book gives positive and practical biblical principles on how one can grow with the help of fathers and mentors in their lives. Sometimes mentoring occurs when we least expect it. Today I will share with you a conversation that have impacted my life.
Although my father and I never grew up in the same home together I knew who he was throughout my life. He showed me love the best way he knew how and after 30+ years of distance and silence from one another we met. I was introduced to my two brothers from his current marriage after divorcing my mother when he was young. I introduced him to my wife and his only grandchildren and his wife told us both, 'there is no way that anyone can deny that you are NOT his son. You talk alike, think alike and you even have the same books in your library and did not even know it.
