This week on the Plants and Cats Podcast I chat yet again about burnout and why my recent burnout was just the wake up call that I needed.

I’ve had to make some really tough calls as a business owner lately and let go of some projects that were really near and dear to my heart. In doing so though, I’ve opened myself up to allowing the space that I’ve needed to really dig into writing my memoir and plan out some fun creative projects for this year.

Tune in to today’s episode if you’re feeling stuck and need some reassurance that you CAN change your mind on things in order to realign your life to better suit yourself and your needs.

This week on the podcast I talked about the burnout I've been experiencing the last few months and what I've been doing to try to combat that while at the same time working towards unmasking my autistic traits so that I can start living my life more as my authentic self.

If you or someone you love is wondering whether or not they may be on the autism spectrum, a great resource to start off with is the Embrace Autism website, here: https://embrace-autism.com/autism-tests/

This week on the podcast I talked about why you are the only thing holding yourself back from going after the things you want. Fear gets in the way of the things that you want, and often presents us with all kinds of excuses. I kept hearing how brave I was to make this big move to BC and relocate my life and here's a spoiler for y'all: I'm just as scared shitless as the rest of you! I also talked about how being out here has given me a different perspective on the things I want to be doing and touched on some of the things that I might be changing regarding my focus on my career.

This week I not only talked a bit about my current favourite obsession, MUSHROOMS, but also my recent experience with microdosing psilocybin and the effects it had on my mental health and general outlook on life.

At the top of the show I talked about our dream vacation to Florida and all the Disney parks and all the other things we did on our whirlwind of a trip so skip ahead about 20 minutes if you want to get right into today's topic.

This week I talked about why self-care isn't just taking a bubble bath, and the importance of making sure we are taking time for ourselves EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'll give you some ideas on ways that you can incorporate more self-care into your life, and how it doesn't have to take up as much time or be as hard as you think.

This week I talked about why doing an audit of who you follow online is so important and how following the wrong people can be harmful to our self-esteem and what we can do to combat that.

This week I talked about the book I'm currently writing, the topics that will be covered in the book, and the discovery I made about myself last summer that spurred the idea that I needed to finally start writing all of this down.

Honestly I was a little scared to talk openly about this but I'm so happy to finally get this off my chest and share it all with you here.

Thank you as always for your support, it means the world to me that y'all feel like this is a safe space to share things and it feels so good to be able to share my own things, too. 💓

Today's topic is about why we need to stop apologizing for our appearances - and why doing this can be harmful on our self-esteem. At the top of the show I give y'all a little life and move update, and talk about some things that have come to the app recently and are on the horizon, plus an exciting tease about what's coming to the shop next! Today's podcast is all about boudoir or empowerment sessions and why they should be a gift to YOURSELF before they are ever a gift to someone else. I give some very unfortunate examples of why I believe this, and also talk a little bit about the reasons why I think sometimes partners react poorly to the gift of boudoir photos.

This week on the Plants and Cats Podcast I chat about burnout and why my renovation to Storm' Cat House was just the afternoon I needed. Often as women and non binary folks, ESPECIALLY small business owners, we fall into a trap of working too much, too hard, too long. We don't spend enough time focused on ourselves, on our own self care. It sometimes can feel like we're socialised to constantly put others before ourselves. By doing this, it's so easy to slip into a state of feeling burned out. When you enter a state of burnout it can feel like the opposite of being super stressed out, where you might feel like you're drowning in responsibilities. When you're burned out, it can feel like a sense of being all "dried up"; like you have nothing left to give. So, for today's episode we talk all about burnout and the importance of taking time for yourself, AWAY from your business, your responsibilities, and everything else. As always, be sure to stay to the end for this week's tarot card! At the end of every episode I always draw a card for the listeners and today is no exception. The message from this week's card is one that I'm sure that we can all relate to. Every week I also post a photo of the card for everyone over in The Babes Club app. If you'd like to see it, download the app at www.thebabes.club/app/

Ep 5: Jackalopes

On today’s episode of Plants and Cats, I talk about my favourite North American mythological creature, jackalopes!

Tune in to today’s show to find out a little bit about the history of this creature that I thought was real until not that long ago. The disappointment that I experienced with that revelation shook me to the core and it turns out I wasn't the only one! This episode was spurred by a stitch to a tiktok video that I made recently. There were quite a few people that left comments on that video stating that they too didn't know that jackalopes weren't real until they saw my video. If you are that person and I am currently bursting your bubble, I AM SO SORRY.

As always, be sure to stay to the end for this week's tarot card! At the end of every episode I always draw a card for the listeners and today is no exception. Ep 4: Shakshuka On today’s episode of Plants and Cats, I talk about my favourite North African and Middle Eastern dish, Shakshuka! Shakshuka is a heavenly combination of tomatoes, onions, bell pepper, feta, and eggs. It’s quickly become a staple in our house, much to my husband Shawn’s dismay. Tune in to today’s show to find out how to make this delicious meal for yourself or your family and hear more about why Shawn regrets ever introducing this meal to me.

EDITORS NOTE Shawn loves shakshuka, introduced Erika to it and makes it for her all the time. He just is tired of eating it every single week. If you ate your favourite food every week you might get sick of it too!
