As therapists we are good at treating patients but may find the business side of having a clinic more tricky. As a chiropractor and clinic director I have built my chiropractic clinic from scratch to a busy thriving clinic and opened a multi disciplinary clinic now home to 15 therapist's clinics. In this podcast I will honestly discuss my successes and failures and all aspects of building a practice from marketing, patient communication, the 'business side' of having a clinic and not forgetting how to balance clinic life with home life. To help you build the practice of your dreams.
In this final episode of season one of The Practice Builders Podcast I go through the top 5 actions to take to make your clinic run better.
I know from talking to many clinic owners that running a clinic can be stressful and overwhleming. By putting these 5 actions into place it will reduce your stress levels and give you more time for the fun things in life.
Best of all there is a free downloadable resource to help you put each one into action.

When I first opened my multidisciplinary clinic Total Health West Berkshire I found it really stressful.
So much to do and not a enough time to do it. I knew that running my clinic like that was not sustainable.
Not if I wanted to enjoy my clinic and have time for a fun and fulfilling life outside of clinic.
I am pleased to say that I no longer find running Total Health that stressful.
Mostly due to these 3 things that I have made part of my life as a clinic owner.
By putting them into practice my life is much less stressful and I have time for my life outside of clinic.

In this podcast I introduce the 3 essential elements every clinic needs to use to grow their clinic.
The idea behind this concept is that they should be relatively easy to put into place in your clinic leading to less overwhelm and more patients.
These elements are mostly low cost and time efficient but when used regularly can really help to grow your clinic. Listen in to hear what the three elements are and how you can start to use them to grow your clinic and attract patients into your practice.

Newsletters can increase patient referrals.
How I hear you ask? Well when was the last time you contacted a patient who had not been into your clinic for treatment? Me? Every fortnight, with a newsletter. Why? Because it helps to remind them that I exist and educates them about other conditions I treat. So I am on their mind if they or a friend or family member needs treatment. Newsletters are often an under used resource by therapists and clinic owners. In this podcast I will discuss the benefits, why and how to send newsletters and tackle some of the roadblocks that stop people from sending them.

Taking time out of clinic. It is something I have struggled with - do you too?
We often think of taking time out of clinic in terms of holiday and weeks in the sun. But it also means taking time out in your clinic day to eat, drink and refresh ourselves. I know many of us have see patients back to back despite being hungry and thirsty. But is this good for ourselves, our patients, our clinic? Although we may be delivering safe, competent treatment are we delivering our best treatments?
If we don't take time out of clinic then it is easy to become tired, burnt out and ill. I share my personal experiences of being forced to be out of clinic due to illness rather than holiday. In this podcast I share how I have balanced the pressure of fitting patients into a busy schedule and the financial side of being out of clinic with being healthy and happy and having a practice I enjoy being in.
If you have any comments or advice you'd like to share then please do by popping into Facebook group The Practice Builders Community.

Decisions about your clinic. Not the ones about patients treatment plans but the decisions that affect your clinic. Whether they are little niggly day to day ones that drive you crackers. Or the big ones that keep you up at night. Sometimes we need help or a process to help us make them. In this episode I go through the process I use to make decisions about my clinic using two examples that have happened in the last couple of weeks.
After listening you should feel more confident in your decision making process.

In the England the road map out of the Covid restrictions has been announced and for close contact therapists the important date is April 12th. If everything is going well this is when you will be able to return to clinic. For all of us whether you are open or closed the lifting of restrictions will mean the start or the return to normal life (whatever that is!) and patients returning to clinic for treatment. I truly believe that our clinics will be busy and in this episode I outline the three best ways to get your clinic ready for the lifting of the restrictions.

Creating an easy marketing strategy for therapists is not often as simple as it sounds. The majority of us are very good at the therapy we do but not some much at marketing.
What I want to share with you is how I decide on the marketing for my business, how I plan it and how I try to avoid being overwhelmed by the whole thing. It is a simple strategy, but a good place to start.
