9 signs of Imbalance:
1- they try but can't genuinely celebrate your wins or milestone: either share the observation when not emotional, or selectively share/limit your good news.
2 - they are not good friends to others: look to their other relationships , there may be patterns that reveal a more general issue.
3- they are competitive or constantly comparing themselves to you: usually they have a hard time accepting your unique talents and or abilities because they do not know what theirs are. Either bring it up casually with the intention of understanding and not accusing, or choose to limit what you share.
4- they show you off in public but are not there for you in private: you are the "trophy friend". This one is easy, share less. Not all friends are meant to be best friends, its okay to be someones trophy friend, if you have others who can do the heavy lifting.
5 - they are there for you in private, but hide your friendship : they do not talk about you in public or associate with you online. This one is harder. Attempt a conversation, and be open to what is said, then decide how to proceed. If you have asked for their support in public/online, and have not received it, that is also an answer.
6 - you are always giving more than what you receive: share what you need more of or share less or stop sharing.
7 -- they only reach out when they need something: you are the "therapist friend" or the "babysitter friend". Share the observation and/or stop responding.
8 -- they ask you to open up, but only share superficial things with you: they are not emotionally available and/or feed off of your struggle. OR they ask you to open and then have no substantive response to the deep things you have shared. "oh that sucks", " thats cool" , " thats great". Limit what you share, and redirect to someone who can reciprocate depth.
9 -- they belittle the new/big things you are trying to do: "that's so cute" "aw look at you!" Meanwhile you just published a book, ran a marathon or had a baby. They may be just that sarcastic friend or they may need to be asked why their godam problem is!

What good will all this dancing do for anyone? Oh, it’s nothing; it will never do any good. It’s as precious as a hundred hours of prayer.
We have no idea why our bodies are jumping Up and down, nor why our throats are full of sound. All our years of everything have come to nothing.

I have no idea what to call this rebirth and yet I’m here to name it to feed the new flame
with wood from the old. Language is a flute, a lily, a chair overbalancing,
a church we teeter on the threshold of. There are places where
they harvest water from the air– drink fog from a glass then overnight hang the rag back on the bayonet.
Does a thing which is reborn need to have died? All those cities still live
in my mirrors, they rise and fall again with the sun’s rounds, the way the planet
carves its own seismic trench in the solar system. The spring charges
and recharges its river system while on the columns of our lives press unimaginable stresses.

Step by Step
Step 1
Kapalabhati consists of alternating short, explosive exhales and slightly longer, passive inhales. Exhales are generated by powerful contractions of the lower belly (between the pubis and navel), which push air out of the lungs. Inhales are responses to the release of this contraction, which sucks air back into the lungs.
Step 2
Focus on your lower belly. Many beginners aren’t able to isolate and contract this area. If needed, cup one hand lightly in the other and press them gently against your lower belly.
Step 3
Now quickly contract (or pump your fisted hands against) your lower belly, pushing a burst of air out of your lungs. Then quickly release the contraction (or your hands), so the belly “rebounds” to suck air into your lungs. Pace yourself slowly at first. Repeat eight to 10 times at about one exhale-inhale cycle every second or two.
Step 4
As you become more adept at contracting/releasing your lower belly, you can increase your pace to about two exhale-inhale cycles every second. Imagine the exhale sweeping out or “brightening” the inner lining of your skull.
Step 5
Do 25 to 30 cycles at first. Gradually increase the number of cycles you do each practice to 100 or more.

Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len was a therapist at the Hawaii State Hospital.

The staff including the doctors quit or called in sick on a regular basis. It was a high-stress environment with many staff terrified of the patients and we can say, it was just as bad for the patients as many of them were shackled or heavily sedated.
As Dr. Hew Len would review a patient’s file he would practice Ho’opono Pono repeating the key mantras over and over again and directing them not at the patients as you might have expected, but at himself as at the centre of Ho’opono Pono lies the belief that we all have a responsibility for the reality we experience.
So, Dr. Hew Len believed that to heal these patients he would first have to heal himself and as he did so, incredibly, even patients he had never seen began to heal. Patients came off their medication, stopped being violent and some were even released.
People began enjoying coming to work there and absenteeism and staff turnover stopped. Dr. Hew Len’s story then began to circulate and as people began to practice this amazing, profound yet simple technique they began to see incredible changes take place in their lives as blockages to success, to happiness and wellbeing just seemed to disappear.

if you too haven't written in a long long time, perhaps is because you haven't bee confronted with a strong enough image.
i dont mean on the screen, i mean in real life.
the other day as i was walking throug the park i saw a section of it had been ropped off, yellow tape situation, and lots of bikyclceists an dpoeple standing around. i walked over, even htough i didnt have to.
but i think i too was a hungry for such an image.
"its a homeless guy, i think hes dead --- one of the college students old me after i asked whats going on.
i walked closer to and saw a body covered with a blanket, only his arm showing, white and lifeless.
a homeless man is dead. i wondered if it was the one i had goten a bagel and a coffee a few months back. he looked so tired.
ive lived in a few cities with bad homelessness, and even vilunteered at a homless shelter as their city paper writer in philadelphia.
but i have never seen it has never been as bad as it is today, in this small southern, historic town.
so thats the background info, nothing you ddidnt really know already.
now comes the reflection part.
honeless men make me very uncomfroable. i feel like they can sense this and that makes me even more paranoid.
and it not the men that make me uncmforable, its the homeless part.
my greek aunt likes to tease me, my fragility as she sees it, in needing 8 hrs of sleep and clean spring water,
but my body is my everything, and i guard against physical calamity, at all costs
meals are planeed the night before,
and bedtime is around 930 because in my cicrdain rhtyhm i trust.
but if put me on the street, and give me a few nights under neon light, bugs and the stencnh of trash stemaing from the concerte,
watch out, that is the day a a monster would be born.
perhaps, i mean i really dont know. id defnitelt steal, i know for a fact.
i guess what im saying is that i fear humans who have endured inhuman conditions.
my discomfort though as real as it is me to me, is only one part of the equation.
yeserday at yoga i heard about the concept of ahimsa, its
: the Hindu and Buddhist doctrine of refraining from harming any living being.
and one of the ways to understand non violence is by living quote in harmony with onesself and with those around you.
so if there is one area of life on in the body that is requiing too much attention or energy, in order to being in more harmony, how can we ask the rest of the body or life to come in and carry some of that weight?
so that the butrden or pain can we be spread out and more easily processed? when i walk around the town i live in, and notice the amount of people walking in dirty clothes and looking like they have nothing to lose, i dont feel harmony.
i have leanred to walk away from the pain that i witness in the collective the human body , but that doesnt mean that i can walk away as waisly from the conseuences of witnessing it.
i get now why rich people live far far away from all of us. with private security, only around other rich people.
its to avoid walking by the park and seeing a dead man under a blanket. because even though its been days, the dead man is still with me.
i used to write inspiration blogs but its not 2015 anymore and i am not the same person i used to be, always hunting for the silver lining.
its 2022 and the person i am now is trying to be part of a world that cant take any more pain, without needing to give anyone 5 practical steps to make sure it all goes away.
because as opposed to 2015, the is no avoiding the pain anymore. perhaps the harmony is knwoing that no single one organ or muscle will come in and save the day. we are all the man under the blanket. we are part of a colelctive human body that has given up, and there is no need to fight that. when i mean given up, i dont mean the will to live entorely, i mean the will to live as we did before.
i donnt know how that man died. i dont know if it was painful or what. but i cant help but also feel some sort of relied for him. they say the only way out is through. saying that creates a loosening in my body, a knowing that i dont have to struggle to change or improve anything, just endure.
