Life doesn't come with a manual.

In a nutshell, the premise of the podcast is borrowing the life experiences of some notable people from various fields so that our children can learn from them in the future.

Each episode features a conversation with someone who has achieved big things in their own chose field.

Our hope is that your children and ours can listen to these legends of our lifetime when they're growing up, in order to get insightful life lessons they can apply in their own

This was a truly inspirational chat with Selena, and you can tell just how much it means to her to help improve the lives of others.

Dr Gilles is Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Programme at New York University Rory Meyer College of Nursing. She is also volunteer Associate Professor for State University of Haiti.

Dr Gilles has been a volunteer Nurse Practitioner for seven medical missions to Haiti, Ghana and Nigeria and her work has impacted over eight thousand disadvantaged patients.

We spoke of many things, including :

  • Not worrying as ultimately things work out
  • The need to let go of perfection, learning by mistakes
  • Positions are temporary, rank and titles are limited but, the way you treat people will always be remembered
  • The importance of helping and impacting the lives of others
  • Paving the way for others, like those that have paved the way for us
  • Pulling others up as you climb and the importance of representation
  • Life takes you places, but you end up where you are supposed to be

Olympic Gold Medallist and World Champion Rower, Dr Kieran West MBE, sat down for a chat with us and gave us his life lessons and insights. I genuinely believe Kieran should get his lessons on paper and publish a book - truly incredible advice on life, but also his advice on what it takes to win an Olympic Gold Medal can be used in your day to day life.

Kieran was the first person from Cambridge University to win the Olympics whilst still a student. He won the Boat Race three times and was elected President of the Cambridge University Boat Club for one of those years.

On this episode of Previously Learnt, I was honoured and humbled to be joined by Julian Burton OAM. In 2002, whilst on an end of season Australian Rules Football tour in Bali, Julian suffered life threatening third degree burns from the Bali Bombings terrorist attacks.

Following on his long treatment and recovery, Julian was inspired to give back and founded the Julian Burton Burns Trust, where the trust raised of A$20m.

This chat was incredibly inspirational and full of life lessons, including :

  • Life is full of choices and every choice has a consequence. Your choice is your biggest asset
