In this episode I am joined by Heather Rose and we discuss growing up with narcissistic parents. As children of narcissistic parents we have picked up our own narcissistic tendencies that we have become aware of. We learn from our parents, whether it is good or bad. Sometimes we focus so hard on what we don't like and don't want to become, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Heather discusses what it is like growing up and learning these behaviors to then become aware and break the generational cycles, so that she doesn't continue to pass them along to her children. Creating awareness around our own behaviors is challenging and Heather does a great job at explaining how she has done this in the past and continues to do it.

In this episode Dr Joan Chan joins me to discuss her experience with restoring trust with herself after growing up with religious trauma from being brought up in an Evangelical Christian Church. She was taught that it was of upmost importance for her to be a good Christian so that she would end up going to Heaven with the rest of her family. At the age of 3 she asked Jesus into heart, which lead her to feel accepted and part of the family. Throughout her childhood she found herself continuing to do things in order to make sure she got into heaven. Once she went to University she realized that there were many other ways of thinking and being that still allowed for someone to be a "good" person. This is when her relationship with herself and religion changed. She had learned to distrust herself because of her experiences. Restoring trust within in herself has allowed her to move forward with her life and now coach other people in the medical profession to build trust with themselves and humanize the medical experience.

In this episode I am joined by my dear friend and fellow life coach, Demelza Lawless. Demelza got diagnosed with ovarian cancer when she was just 28 years old. She was planning on starting a family with her husband when she got the news. Due to the aggressiveness of the cancer, she started treatment within the couple of weeks. While she went through the treatment process with a positive mindset, the hardest part for her was learning that she would not be able to carry a baby full term after these treatments. So not only was she dealing with the fact that she was diagnosed with cancer, but she was also mourning the loss of being able to start a family the conventional way she had always planned. She discusses how she grieved, processed, and continues to process this loss. While she has had the opportunity to have two biological children, her journey looked a little different than she would have imagined. While this is a major part of her life and story she has come to the conclusion that she is a cancer survivor last, that there is so much more to her life and story than this experience, it truly is inspiring,

In this episode I discuss coping vs processing. Coping is something most people spend their life doing. Coping gives you slight relief in the moment but doesn't get to the root cause of the problem. When we cope we prolong the process of healing. In order to truly heal and move forward it is imperative to process. Processing doesn't give you immediate relief, in fact it is more uncomfortable. Choosing to be uncomfortable in the moment by processing will give you relief in the future. This is called delayed gratification. Learning how to process anything that arises will allow you to move through it and move forward. In a society where we want a quick fix and have been programmed to treat symptoms, we have to teach ourselves how to feel uncomfortable, take our time, and treat the root cause. Learning how to process is the key to navigating the adversity life is bound to bring you.

In this episode I discuss my experience being 90 days completely sober. 90 days sober from smoking marijuana and 2644 sober from alcohol consumption has changed my life. I was someone who smoked marijuana for the past 7 years, during that time I was sober from alcohol. I have so many reasons as to why I smoked pot and the benefits I believed it provided me. After being 90 days completely sober I realized how most of the benefits were complete bullshit and I was just utilizing it to still cope with life. 90 days later I realized how much I have grown and how much more I prefer being sober than not. Deciding to make a change and lean into every emotion that has come up has made sobriety easy. Being sober is easy when you aren't trying to cope or escape. The real work is processing rather than coping, but worth every ounce of energy, When you treat the root cause the symptoms go away. That is what I have done, treat the root cause. Listen to the episode to hear my full experience.

You are not your past. You do not have to continue to recreate your past over and over again, yet so many people do. I was one of those people that found myself constantly recreating my past. I carried the evidence from my past into my present and my future. This was a cycle that left me in what seemed like the same circumstances over and over again with a slight variation. In this episode I discuss how you can stop recreating your past and start creating a future that you desire and reflects the person you want to become. You are only your past if you so choose to be. I know it may not seem like a choice, but it is and I discuss how you can stop allowing you past to dictate your future.

As we approach Mother's Day and my 33rd birthday, a lot of emotion has come up for me. This year is the 9 year anniversary of my mom's passing. As I started reflecting on the time since my mom has passed, I started to feel the sadness and magnitude of my mom not being here in the physical realm. While I have processed so much grief around my mom's passing, sometimes it pops up to surprise me again. In this episode I discuss how that grief shows up and what I do to process it in these moments almost 9 years later. Of course, I still get sad and miss her. Of course, I wonder what she would think about the person I have become. Of course, I still find myself having full body sobs from time to time. Learning to accept and welcome whatever emotion comes up has really allowed me to process the moments of grief as they arise. Accepting that I will feel both sadness and gratitude at the same time has made the process a whole lot easier. In this episode I discuss what my grief looks like almost 9 years later and what I do to allow myself to heal through these moments. Grief looks different for everyone, but acceptance of whatever comes up is the key to allow yourself to heal no matter how long it has been since you have experienced a loss.

If you are processing and healing from grief, I would like to invite you to click the link below and book your free mini session. You can join my H.E.A.L.I.N.G. program and learn how to process and heal in your own unique way, supporting yourself through everything that comes up with my guidance.

In this week's episode I discuss how to fully embrace the human experience. Life is 50% good and 50% bad. Most people spend their whole lives resisting the "bad" or "negative" aspects of life, which then take away from experience the "good" or "positive" aspects of life. We are taught that feeling bad isn't good and that we should do everything we can to feel better. Doing this creates so much unnecessary suffering. Learning how to embrace and feel both the positive and negative aspects of the human experience allows us to fully live. Learn how to embrace both positive and negative emotions without resistance.

In this episode I discuss how to make room for what is meant for you. What is meant for you is your truest and deepest desires. When we know what our truest and deepest desires are, we can work towards fulfilling them. Most people have an idea of what they want in this lifetime, but don't believe that it is out there for them, so they settle for less. The truth is that whatever you truly want is out there and waiting for you, it is just a matter of belief and taking the actions necessary to get there. In order to create space for what is meant for you, you have to be willing to give up what isn't. This is where people stay stuck and unfulfilled because they don't believe what they truly want is it out there for them. You can create your dreams, but have to believe and be willing to give up anything out of alignment.

In this episode I discuss the impact of your inner dialogue and how to start intentionally change it to support you and the person you want to become. Your inner dialogue dictates everything that you do and how you show up in the world. Most of us form our inner dialogue based on what others think about us or what the world around us tells us we should be. We think other's thoughts and opinions about us are just truths and I am here to tell you  that they aren't. A lot of people have a negative self dialogue and feel shitty because of it. This inner dialogue does not have to be fixed, you can decide to intentionally change it to help you create different results than you are currently creating.

In this episode I discuss my 10 day liver, kidney, and gut detox. I had no idea what I was in for when I started this detox. I knew there was going to be symptoms that arise, but could have never guessed the amount and the intensity of the symptoms. As the detox ramped up on days 5-7 the symptoms got worse and I relied on the support from others. I am not one to look for support in my most vulnerable states, I am usually the one who supports others when they are feeling vulnerable. This time I used my strength to lean in on the support from others despite the fear of being rejected. I share with you how impactful it was for me to really rely on the love and support from three amazing people in my life. This detox was far more healing than I could have ever imagined. I was doing this detox to heal my physical body and I healed trauma and stories that I had been telling myself for most of my life. Leaning into this support was so healing.

In this episode I discuss breaking a life long sugar habit/addiction. I have been consuming large amounts of sugar most of my life. I would consume it if I was happy, sad, stressed, anxious, depressed, it didn't matter I could find a reason to binge on sugar. When I was feeling negative emotions, I would binge even more. Consuming sugar gave me an immediate dopamine hit. The problem with the immediate dopamine hit is that I would later suffer the consequences. This time around I have done something different. I have not used absolutes or restrictions. I have replaced that with focusing on what I do want. This has not only made the process doable, but has made it not a problem at all.

In this episode I discuss how the fear of rejection is not only normal, but our brains way of keeping us "safe." Although our brain is trying to keep us safe, the fear of rejection ultimately leads us to reject our truest selves, which is very unsafe. When we reject ourselves, we experience depression, anxiety, shame, we create feelings of unworthiness, and ultimately burnout. Learning how to fully accept ourselves and not look for others acceptance will allow us to start living the life that we were always meant to.

In this episode I discuss how I had been lying to myself about wanting marriage and children. I have spent the past few years trying to convince myself that I didn't want to get married and have children, all out of fear that I wouldn't be able to find love, conceive, and not royally screw up a child. This fear had my brain trying to find all of the evidence as to why I just didn't want it. The reality is that these are some of my deepest desires and the fear of not having them was painful. Getting honest with myself allowed me to see that I truly want to share my life with a husband and child. This has been an emotional, but freeing process.

In this episode I take a deeper dive into the concept that we are not responsible for other people's feelings, nor are other people responsible for our feelings. The belief that we are responsible for how other people feel has been programmed into us at a very young age. This dictates the way we show up in the world, a lot of the time trying to be what other people want you to be. This robs you of you creating the life that you want and are supposed to live. Trust me, it took some time to adopt this belief, but it has drastically changed my life and my client's lives.

We are all born with a deep knowing within us that is our natural compass, it warns us when there is danger, it urges us to take leaps of faith and it contains all of the knowledge you have ever needed to know. We spend most of our time on this Earth ignoring our intuition, in fact rejecting it. We believe everything and everyone outside of us has the answers. This left me feeling depressed, anxious, and confused. Building a deeper relationship with my intuition, allowing myself to live the life I am meant to has guided me to coach others and help them do the same. Igniting your intuition and letting it be your guide can be the difference from living a programmed life and the life you were always meant to live.

You think you are burnt out or on the road to burn out because you are doing too much.  In this episode I discuss the real reason you are burnt out and how to start recovering from burnout. Burnout affects far too many people as we live in a society that programs us to believe that we have to live in certain ways to be "successful" or create the lives we want. The reality is that most people are living so far from the lives they want to be living, that they wind up feeling exhausted, unmotivated and dreading their days. This doesn't have to be your reality. It used to be mine until I started  doing more of what I want to be doing.

In this episode I discuss one particular trauma that I suffered in silence for 18 years before telling anyone. I want to give a trigger warning as this episode contains information about sexual abuse and healing from it. I share how suffering in silence impacted me and how I was able to process and heal. As a strong woman, I thought it was noble and the best thing to suffer in silence by myself, but what I didn't know is that I was just keeping myself from healing. Suffering in silence only keeps us suffering. Processing and healing from trauma is what I like to call freedom.

To the strong women suffering in silence, I see you, I feel for you, I was you.  In this episode I discuss how being a strong woman suffering in silence lead me to burnout. Because I was the "strong friend/family member/coworker" I kept my suffering inside a poured all of the energy that I had left into everyone else. I became a person who worked 12 hour days, 60 hour weeks, and continued to say yes to everyone and everything that came way, until I couldn't anymore. I became completely burnt out and my body started suffering physically. It was then that I knew I could no longer live the way I was living. Being the strong woman who suffered in silence was slowly but surely taking my life. Do you find yourself being a person who always says "yes," whether you want to do something or not? In this episode I discuss when saying yes is doing more harm than good. Saying yes all of the time is either due to trauma or the programming we have received, We believe that if we say "no" we are going to make someone else feel some sort of negative emotion. The problem with this is that we completely discount ourselves in the whole making someone feel a negative emotion, which is in fact the only person we can truly make feel any way. Learning to say no when you don't want to do something allows you to honor yourself as well as make those "yes" moments really meaningful. Learning to honor ourselves allows us to honor others for who they truly are.

Happy New Year! As we enter the new year and have new intentions and goals that we want to achieve, it is imperative to question your current beliefs. When we experience trauma, we form beliefs based on those traumas. We also form beliefs based on what messages we receive from our families, our peers, social media, and any other media for that fact. A lot of these beliefs are adopted without consciously choosing to take them on. When we are looking to heal or create something new in our life it is likely that our current beliefs are not useful in doing so or we would already be there. Taking inventory of what you currently believe will allow you to consciously change your beliefs to that which serve you.

Connection is one of the biggest parts of the human experience. When we experience trauma that creates disconnection in our lives we start to put up walls. In fear of facing more disconnection, we keep ourselves from connecting deeply, which just creates that which we fear, disconnection. When we put up these walls and only let people see in from the outside we rob ourselves of the full human experience. Most people just want to be seen ad accepted for who they are and the only way to do this is to connect with someone, to show them all of the parts of you that you hide from the rest of the world. Connecting deeply with yourself will allow you to connect deeply with others and will show you a different side of life. The beauty about first connecting deeply with yourself is that you will know how to take care of yourself if you do find yourself in a situation where disconnection is the result. You will know how to use that disconnection from someone else to connect with yourself on a deeper level.

Heal your trauma through deep connection with yourself through my 12 week program.

We live in a world where most people are looking for outside acceptance, yet aren't willing to fully accept themselves. Looking for acceptance outside of yourself is just like looking for love, validation, and your worth outside of yourself, its useless. No amount of outside acceptance will fill the gap of you not accepting yourself. When we full accept ourselves, the "good" and the "bad" we no longer need others to accept us. Once we no longer need others to accept us, the right people will accept us for who we are and that is just an added bonus. The real gift here is allowing yourself to show up exactly how you are, honoring everything about you. The even cooler part is that if you don't like something about yourself, once you accept it, you can decide to change it. This change will come from your desire to change, not the desire for others to accept you,  Self-acceptance will change your life and the way you show up in the world.

People pleasing is the biggest suck of your energy and your authenticity. We are not put on this Earth to please others. We are here to live our lives and create the life we dream of. Many of us take on the people pleasing title as a trauma response and carry it around with us the rest of our lives. When we people please as a way to connect with others, we ultimately disconnect from ourselves, which then leads to disconnection from others. People pleasing isn't serving you like you may think. It's time to break that people pleasing cycle and start living in accordance with what you really want.

In this episode I briefly discuss some of the traumas that I have experienced in my life and how I have healed them. I walk you through my 7-step process that allowed me to truly take my healing into my own hands and continues to allow me to heal as trauma responses and triggers reveal themselves. We do not do inner child work and try to go back and tend to the past version of you. We focus on you right now, what you need at this time, and what the future version of you needs. This allows you to heal without retraumatizing yourself. If you have done the therapy and understand why you are fucked up, but don't know how to move forward, this is for you!

This episode is about creating change in your life. Creating change in your life can be scary and intimidating if you haven't done it in a long time. As we get older we tend to become more reluctant to change and choose the comfort of what is familiar. No one great will tell you they became great from staying comfortable and only doing what id familiar. If you are sick of your current results and the way you are living, I was too! This is the perfect time to put one foot in front of the other and take the leap. The only thing that is keeping you from creating change is your fear, We all have fear, it's just about choosing to move with your fear, rather than letting it stop you in your tracks.  Change and discomfort is the key to your success!

This episode is all about boundaries; what they are, what they aren't, and what happens when you don't have them or honor them. Boundaries are key when navigating this life and I would say is part of our basic needs as humans if our food and shelter needs are met. Knowing and establishing what our boundaries are will allow us to implement them and follow through with them. Boundaries are not meant to be used as a tool against someone else, but a tool used to protect and honor ourselves. To start implementing boundaries, we must start with ourselves. We have to have boundaries for ourselves that we honor before we can expect others to honor our boundaries. If you aren't willing to honor your own boundaries, why would someone else? Boundaries may be tough to implement, but not as tough as it is to live with yourself without them!

There is one question that has helped me change my life and the way that I experience life. "What am i making this mean?" This question will allow you to gain insight and awareness into your thoughts around any particular circumstance. Once you create the awareness, you can then decide if it is serving you or if you would like to change it. Getting curious with yourself without judgement allows you to create the awareness necessary without beating yourself up. We have around 60,000 thoughts per day and most of those are unconscious but are still shaping our beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. When we start consciously observing our thoughts we can start to create conscious thoughts that serve us and the life we desire. Asking good quality questions will allow you to create good quality answers that truly create awareness and are empowering. Once we realize how much power and control we actually do have over ourselves and our lives, we can create the life we desire.

P.S. I have some word fumbles including in the intro and I am going to leave them. I am a human and I am not perfect, I make mistakes, AND THAT IS OKAY! It doesn't feel right or aligned for me to try to present a perfectly packaged message, because that is not me. I am here to spread the messages true to my soul and show up as authentically as I possibly can. This is part of the relationship I have created with myself and I am so grateful for it!

This first episode is about searching for love, your worth, and your value outside of yourself. Most of us spend the majority of our lives looking for a partner, family, or friends to make us feel loved. We look towards others to confirm our value and our worth. When we seek these three things outside of ourselves, it is always coming from a place of scarcity and is being left in the hands of other people. Feeling loved, valued, and worthy are all feelings that we generate within ourselves and cannot be felt because someone else love us, values us, and sees our worth. There are plenty of times when people have said "I love you" and I didn't feel it or believe. There were plenty of times other people saw my value and my worth when I didn't.
This is why it is so important to understand that none of these things lie outside of yourself and are always generated from within. You get to determine what you think and ultimately feel about yourself. You get to believe that you are of value, you can choose to believe you are worthy, and you get to show yourself as much love as you need to fill up your cup. The secret is that your thoughts create your feelings and you get to choose what you think. This is amazing news because you can generate any beliefs and feelings you desire, why not make them intentional? You are worthy, you are valuable, and you are so deserving of love right here, right now.
