Amy and Catherine welcome back Carli King, LMFT and discuss narrative therapy! Wondering what that is and why we’re even chatting about it?? Narrative therapy is all about... you guessed it! Stories!! Since we talk about people’s stories all the time on WYW, we wanted to zoom out and give a bigger picture as to why these stories are important, what they’re really telling us, how to rewrite those stories (can you!!???) and more! Plus, Carli gives us an inside look into her work as a narrative therapist and how her narratives have played out in her own life!

Amy and Catherine discuss FUN! The two discuss how they incorporate fun into their lives, why they don’t particularly feel like fun at the moment, society’s view of what fun is compared to what fun really is to others, why we think fun has to be indulgent or make us feel guilty, and more! They end with committing to taking a “fun inventory” to find the micro moments in life when it’s happening.

Amy and Catherine discuss their relationship to movement and exercise. Fair warning, the two co-hosts have a very positive relationship with working out and it might come off as annoying!! BUT, they didn’t always have this relationship and A and C both share how their relationship with working out has evolved over time, what workouts they are currently doing, and tips for people who are curious about making movement and exercise a part of their own life (or if they’re struggling with being consistent and committed!).

Amy and Catherine welcome Sophia Mullins. Sophia paints a picture of a driven girl in pursuit of a finance career turned successful Wall Street-working woman struggling with autoimmunity and burnout. Sophia’s challenges became a turning point for her to focus on her health and well-being, and from there @wallstreetwellness was born. Sophia created a community where she shows her audience how she lives an authentic life of gratitude, health, spirituality, and personal development. The three dig into the difficulty of living with balance instead of an all-or-nothing mentality, being self-care efficient, using “relaxed productivity” at work and more, all through Sophia’s wellness journey.

Amy and Catherine discuss the difference between passion and purpose. As therapists, they often encounter both in session with clients - how do I find my purpose? I’m not passionate about anything, is that a problem? Are passions something that happen naturally or can they morph and develop over time? And they of course, answer the question: how is having a passion and/or purpose connected to your overall wellness?

Catherine’s waffles! (Changes made: "I just do 2 eggs instead of one egg white and 1/2 scoop of chocolate protein and 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein! The recipe says to blend it all in a blender but I just blend up the oats to make oat flour, whisk together all the dry ingredients and then add the wet. The batter is a little thin, so I also add 1/2 cup of almond flour, too!")

Amy and Catherine are joined by Jessica Desai, LCSW this week (00:01:40). Jess is a therapist at Revive with a background in palliative care. She is a total grief expert and thankfully loves to talk about this touchy and often uncomfortable topic that all of us experience in life. Jess dives into the different ways of grieving, how to support those who are grieving (“what do I even say to someone!?”), and all types of loss (death, break-ups, life transitions, abilities, and more). She also answers a very important question: “Do we ever really get over a loss?” Find out!
This week’s Reactivity TV (01:00:58) has a bit of a twist to it. Not only does it take place at the end of the episode instead of the beginning, but it also includes Jess! There were so many relatable and applicable aspects of the film to grief and loss that Amy and Catherine wanted Jess’s expertise around it! The three of them share their therapist perspectives of the 2006 film, “The Holiday”! You may be an annual viewer of this movie, but have you thought about it like this before!?
