In today’s episode, Sheridan and Juliette are digging deep into what is possible the wedding of the decade!

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant come from two of the wealthiest families in India, and in July, they held one of the biggest wedding festivities we’ve probably ever seen!

The celebration started back in March, where they held their huge, 3-day pre-wedding weekend and hastakshar. Rihanna took the stage for a private performance, with a star-studded guest list.

The celebration continued in May with a 4-day Mediterranean cruise with 1200 of their nearest and dearest, including performances by Katy Perry, Backstreet Boys and Pitbull.

The wedding itself spanned over a couple of weeks, sharing several traditional ceremonies with their family and friends.

The wedding saw performances by Justin Bieber, guests such as Kim and Khloe Kardashian and John Cena and close to 1 billion flowers. The Ambani wedding truly had it all!

In today’s episode, Sheridan and Juliette sit down and talk ALL about the crazy histories behind some of the most popular wedding traditions.

We hope you love a history lesson cause that's what this episode is all about!!

We travel back to Ancient Egypt to learn about the history of wedding rings, how this tradition was adopted by the Ancient Greeks and in turn, the Ancient Romans. We talk about what their rings were made of and how they transformed into what we see today.

We all know that most people wear white on their wedding day, but this has not always been the way! We'll talk about the rise of Queen Victoria and how she was basically the first-ever #influencer... lol!

We also talk about how much arranged marriages have painted the way we do weddings today, including not seeing the couple on the wedding day and wearing a veil! As well as how bouquets were originally not at all done for aesthetics and instead were used to mask the wearers odour...

This is also your reminder that you do NOT need to do any wedding tradition if you don't want to. Your wedding day is all about you and your partner, so do whatever it is that makes the two of you happiest.

In this episode, Sheridan and Juliette are giving you a step by step rundown of everything you need to do in the week of your wedding!

Planning a wedding can be extremely stressful for everyone involved, and unfortunately, for most of us, that stress doesn't magically disappear right before the wedding.

In fact, it's often this final week of wedding planning that ends up being the most stressful of all because suddenly, the end is actually in sight, and you can feel like there's still a multitude of things to be done.

One of the most important things to do during your wedding week is to try to RELAX! We know it might be hard, but in this episode, we'll give you some of our best tips for doing just that.

Prioritising yourself and your relationship during this week will do wonders for how you show up on your actual wedding day. So make sure that you have scheduled some exclusive self-care time. Even if this is just being able to switch off while you get your hair done or a massage, your body and mindset will thank you for it!

In this episode, Sheridan and Juliette are diving all the way into wedding venues!

Kicking off the episode with an important update for Melbourne-based couples, Sheridan shares the unfortunate news of Riverstone Estate's closure in the Yarra Valley. If you've been affected by the loss of this beautiful venue, we’re sending you all our love and highly recommend joining the Facebook group Melbourne Brides for extra support and any venue recommendations.

Choosing your wedding venue, one of the first tasks on your wedding planning to-do list, can feel incredibly daunting. Especially because it will majorly impact how your wedding day is going to look and feel, but we are here to help make the process a little easier!

We are giving you a list of the most important things to think about, look for and ask when you start touring wedding venues.

As we often say, the key part of wedding planning is honouring you and your partner and making sure both of you feel happy, comfortable, and excited about your upcoming wedding! The same goes for choosing your wedding venue. Trust us when we say that you will just 'know' when you've found the perfect venue.

In this episode, Sheridan and Juliette are talking all about burnout in the wedding planning process.

Weddings and wedding planning can be so often glamourised, and it’s so easy to forget just how exhausting wedding planning can be! With so many moving parts and details to manage, it's essential to find a balance in the planning process to avoid the dreaded burnout.

We talk you through our biggest planning tips from start to finish: how to decide what’s most important to you, have a clear planning strategy, and stay organised!

We know wedding planning can be overwhelming, so make sure to take breaks, eat well, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep.

We cannot stress enough the importance of celebrating the small wins. It's easy to get caught up in a constant cycle of 'what's next on the list' but make sure you take time to revel in the feeling of getting the big things done! One of our favourite ways to do this is by having a dinner date every month on the date of your wedding, a countdown, if you will! Spend time with your partner, and don't ever forget that your wedding experience as a whole should be romantic!

At the end of the day, always remember that it's your wedding, and should reflect you and your partner, no one else!

In today’s episode, Sheridan and Juliette guide you through some of the most common and BIGGEST Wedding Day Regrets!

Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event (well, usually!), so getting it right is essential. With so much pressure surrounding the big day, we're here to help alleviate some of that stress! Here are some of the most common wedding day regrets to help you avoid making the same mistakes!

We talk about the importance of hiring professionals, as opposed to someone who's just 'handy with a camera,' and how this can make a huge impact on the memories you have of your big day. Plus, we give you some big tips and mindset shifts when it comes to deciding how much to spend on your vendors.

Your wedding day is not just a one-day event, it's also the start of your marriage with your partner, so schedule quality time with them into your timeline, whether it's having a first look, skipping cocktail hour to spend time together, or glueing your hands together all night (lol) make sure you don't look back feeling sad that you barely spoke!

The moral of the story is this: if you're on the fence about whether or not to do something, just do it! There's no going back, and the chances are high that if you don't do it, you'll be wishing you did.

So… what even is Cocktail Hour?? Let’s talk about it!!

Cocktail hour is what we call the time between your wedding ceremony and your reception. Generally, this is when you and your partner will go and get your portraits done, and your guests will enjoy a drink, a chat, and some appetisers - but there’s a little more to it than that!

For you and your partner:

Your wedding day is a super intense celebration, and if you’ve spent the whole morning getting ready, the day is just go-go-go with not much time for recovery! So… your cocktail hour is perfect to take a moment to relax and embrace the feeling of being newly married! You’ll likely still have a lot to do with your photographer and videographer, but we recommend organising your timeline to include at least 10-15 minutes of just YOU time.

Of course, there’s the option to join your cocktail hour, you just need to think about when you’re going to get your portraits taken and how you can still incorporate some time alone.

This is where the first look comes in! If you don’t mind seeing each other before the ceremony, there is the option to do a first look and take your portraits before the ceremony. This allows you to join cocktail hour, chat with your guests, and enjoy a drink and some food before the more structured reception begins!

For your guests:

If you are feeling worried about what your guests are going to do during cocktail hour, don’t fret! All you need to do is make sure your guests have something to do, something to eat and drink, and something to watch!

I promise it’s simple! Your guests are likely going to want to catch up with each other, so already there’s something for them to do. If you throw in some lawn games, leave your guest book out, and even have a photo booth set up, you're done! Make sure you have enough food and beverages, no one wants hangry guests at their wedding!

Something to watch is the trickier one during your cocktail hour, but it’s not as important as the last two points, the easiest way to do this is if you have a live band, your guests will naturally gravitate towards them, but if you don’t just make sure you have some music playing throughout!

In this episode, Sheridan and Juliette provide a concise guide to wedding planning, counting you down from your engagement to 6 months before the wedding!

Remember that every wedding planning timeline will look a little different, so take this all with a grain of salt!

We may sound like a broken record, but the very first thing you need to do is set your budget! Think big picture about what you want your wedding to look like, and be realistic about how much money you really want to spend. This will mean hashing out your non-negotiables and thinking about what you’d be happy to pass up if it doesn’t align with your budget.

Throughout this first half of your wedding planning process, you’ll also want to lock in all of your big wedding vendors, think venue, celebrant, photographer, videographer, band/DJ, florist, and hair and makeup artists!

Now is also the time to get wedding dress shopping!! Wedding dresses can have a manufacturing timeline of up to 8-10 months, so make sure you allow more than enough time to account for any alterations as well.

Send out your save the dates, and start the process of planning and booking your honeymoon! The earlier you get the big things out of the way, the easier and breezier it will be in the months just before your wedding day.

Check out Part 2 here for our 6-month countdown to your wedding!

In today’s episode, Sheridan and Juliette guide you through the art of crafting the perfect wedding vows.

A lot of pressure is put on making your vows super special, which can often become overwhelming. But at the end of the day, writing your vows should be the easy part of wedding planning!

Did you know that you don’t actually have to write personalised vows??

You can also say them privately before or after the ceremony!

We recommend briefly discussing your vows with your partner to help remove some of that pressure. Go through the kind of things you want to say, the vibe you want your vows to be and if you have anything that you definitely DON’T want them saying!

We give you our easy 4-step formula for writing your vows, and top it off with a bunch of tips to make sure you can execute them perfectly on the day.

Start writing your vows early, and allow yourself the time to simmer on what you’ve written, it’s super normal that your first draft won’t be final. So give yourself the grace to change them as much as you need.

And once you’re done, practice, practice, practice!

Say them aloud multiple times, this will help to ensure you don’t stumble over as many words and gives you the opportunity to take out any potential tongue twisters!

At the end of the day, if you don’t say them perfectly during the ceremony - it’s not the end of the world! Let the tears fall if you feel them coming, and embrace the feeling of speaking your feelings to your partner.

In today's episode, Sheridan and Juliette share their top tips for planning the ULTIMATE honeymoon.

We know that planning a holiday while in the midst of wedding planning is less than ideal, so here is our comprehensive guide to streamline your honeymoon planning process!!

It may seem like a shock, but we highly recommend starting to consider your honeymoon when you start budgeting for your wedding. This will allow you to plan your budget around ALL of your plans and ensure that you won’t fall short by planning your honeymoon only a few months out.

The next thing you need to consider is what kind of honeymoon you and your partner actually want! This is going to effect your budget, as well as the timing of your honeymoon and potentially your wedding.

For example, if you are wanting to head to Europe for a beautiful summer vacation, but your wedding is in October in Australia, the timelines don’t quite match up. So you may need to adjust your expectations, take your honeymoon at a different time or head somewhere else!

We highly recommend that all newly married couples take at least a few days after the wedding before heading off on their honeymoon. This will give you time to get all of your affairs in order, ensure you have your passports (if required) ready, and gives you time to recover after the craziness of your wedding day!

To save money, start looking at flights and accommodation early and look into potentially going to see a travel agent! They will be able to do all of the heavy lifting (much like a wedding planner), so you can enjoy more of the fun stuff and plan the honeymoon of your dreams.

In this week's episode, Sheridan and Juliette give you their best tips for planning a sustainable wedding that is not only everything you’ve ever dreamed of but is kind to the environment, too.

At Cullen Jewellery, sustainability lies at the core of our values. We specialise in lab grown diamonds, certified as carbon-neutral by Clear Neutral. Our gemstones are exclusively lab grown, eliminating the need for mining. Additionally, we exclusively utilise recycled gold and proudly collaborate with One Tree Planted, ensuring the planting of one tree for every ring sold.

We give you all of our best tips, from choosing your perfect wedding venue to how to save the environment when buying your invitations and stationary; we even give you some ideas on what wedding favours your guests will not only love but will actually use (or enjoy).

We also remind you that you do not have to buy everything brand new for your wedding day! Buying things second-hand will be a more sustainable approach and save you money in the long run! If you can’t find the perfect decor second-hand, buy things that can be reused in your home after the wedding, or plan to sell them to the next bride!

A little bit goes a long way to hosting a more sustainable wedding!
