This week on Rookie Pirate Radio, Jon Negroni (me) and Travis Hymas discuss the anime and manga Boruto, especially now that its follow-up manga Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is already a couple chapters into its run. Originally a spinoff sequel series aimed at younger fans of Naruto, Boruto has a notorious reputation for being an inconsistent mess among some of the fandom and an overhyped underdog by others. We're here to give our own takes, and it's not so one-sided. So fire up your Rasengans, because we're about to Talk no Jutsu the Boruto discourse.

Netflix's One Piece live action series is only a little over a month away — set your log post to August 31, even though that's not how log poses work. But to tie us over, we finally have a full trailer to dissect and overanalyze, with cameos and bounty poster easter eggs galore. For a special bonus episode of Rookie Pirate Radio, Jon Negroni (me) and Travis Hymas discuss the trailer's many revelations and how it appears to consolidate the East Blue Saga into just eight hour-long episodes. Hour long? Arlong? Coincidence? Yes. Anyway, we also dive into the special effects, fight scenes, Oda's letter to the community, and a whole lot more.

This week on Rookie Pirate Radio, special guests Allyson Johnson and Kayla Lupoli join us to discuss Hell's Paradise, a new Shonen anime produced by MAPPA and based on the hit manga (Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku). Kayla has been reviewing weekly episodes of Hell's Paradise and also read the entire manga, so we have a great roundtable discussing what we like, dislike, and want to see more of as the season progresses. The anime (which is three episodes in at the time of this recording) is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll. And we end this week's show with a few anime recommendations for Galaxy Next Door, Oshi no Ko, Skip and Loafer, and more.
