Hi friends, welcome to episode three of teach me missiology, where I seek to learn and understand the methods and practices used to communicate and declare God's glory to the nations.
Begging on March 22 through April 21, our Muslim neighbors will celebrate the annual month of fasting called Ramadan. Now, being relatively new to the world of missions, I wanted to know what this month entailed and how I could love and care for my Muslim neighbor as a Christian.
On this episode, I'm talking with my friend Dr. David Garrison today on the podcast.
For over 30 years, David has been a missionary pioneer in understanding church planting among unreached peoples. He is the author of several books, including The Nonresidential Missionary (1990), Church Planting Movements (2004), and A Wind in the House of Islam (2014).
David walks me through how Ramadan began, the traditions involved during the month, and how Christians can use this time to show their Muslim neighbors the love of Christ.

In 1960, about 1 in 20 U.S. residents were foreign-born. Today, around -fifth of those living in the United States speak a language at home other than English. Many Americans attend churches that send missionaries around the world to tell others about Jesus. However, these same Christians who applaud overseas mission work do not even know the names of their foreign-born neighbors. Along the same lines, many churches have developed strategies and programs to reach out to people in their communities. Yet, many of these efforts ignore immigrant families. On this episode I chat with Dr. Stu Cocanougher, pastor and author of the book, "Reaching the World Across the Street."
