It was debilitating and caused her to experience depression. That was until she made a conscious decision to ‘just be happy’. She asked herself, what did she want to do when she got thin and then she did those things! Her personal journey has compelled her to help others to ‘just be happy’ though her Dietless Living coaching programs. ZoomService SaaS Helps them deliver their service eg. Adding functionality into other people’s softwareConnecting with a neighbour over dinner one night, sparked Stewart to pursue a second career where he now helps funded founders create software that solves people’s needs rather than creating technology for technology's sake. Most developers start out with a great idea and get stuck in the detail of making the software functional, beautiful and integrated rather than solving a real need for the real world. Molly Beck is the founder and CEO of private podcasting platform Messy.fm, and author of the book Reach Out, The Simple Strategy You Need to Know to Expand Your Network and Increase Your Influence. She is also a blogger, speaker and co-creator of Reach Out Party with Carly Valancy.Molly’s philosophy of ‘Connections Move The World Forward’ has never been more fitting in this current global climate. It has certainly moved her forward!I first heard about Molly’s book Reach Out through an invitation to a Reach Out Party from Carly Valancy. We had Carly on an earlier episode and heard how her reach out to Molly via an Instagram direct message created the start of the Reach Out Party movement. Molly’s book started with an idea followed by massive action. She was looking for investors for her then startup, Messy.fm, a private podcasting platform that allows corporate organisations to communicate differently within their business. So she scheduled a daily task in her calendar each weekday morning to contact someone that could help, either an investor directly or for an introduction to someone that could refer her to a chosen investor. This then became a blog, a Forbes article, and eventually a book, sharing her journey of how she did it. These daily reach outs also lead to career opportunities, business partnerships and of course the growth and success of Messy.fm. Molly also shares with us her take on the power of podcasting and how audio is the happy balance between text and video. People don’t like to, want to or have time to read text and with video, people either don’t want to or are hesitant to create them.Take a listen to the podcast where we discuss:The power of podcasting for internal communicationsThe power of reaching out to everyoneAnd some tips from Molly:Start your own showReach out to everyday - make it a habitIt is who you know in business, so grow your who (network)I love Molly’s book, Reach Out. It speaks to everything I do myself and help others do, which is to make connections, create collaboration opportunities and make a bigger impact on the world! At the Business Connections Podcast we are all about sharing stories that demonstrate the power of connection. We thank Molly Beck for being generous with her time and sharing her wisdom with us all.
