Happy New Year (is it too late to say that?)! Lisa and I are back in the studio to kickoff season 3 and 2024. We talk new year's resolutions and goals for the year (I love a resolution!), lotta tennis, pants-less Gordon Ramsey and my new-found hobby, wood engraving (who knew??). I also share my perspective about Christmas and how I just want the magic back! I know, I know - these are definitely privilege problems but can we just make it less stressy and more fun? If I learned anything from Bad Moms Christmas, it's up to moms to make the change happen. :) (Adding this to my 2024 resolutions list). Thanks for listening!

In this episode, I sit down with royalty from one of my favorite local, so-awful-at-times-you-have-to-watch Facebook groups - Tulsa Restaurant Reviews. And while Jared Gleaton isn't affiliated with TRR in any way, he uses the channel to share his reviews of Tulsa's fine dining restaurants. These reviews are LEGIT, friends. We dive into where his fancy taste in food (and cologne) comes from - among other topics - and he analyzes my fear of sharing my opinion on FB groups... This school psychologist by day, foodie by night, made some good points, but I think I'll still abstain... But you shouldn't! Comment and let me know what you think!! Thanks for listening.

Natasha Ball - of TashaDoesTulsa fame - joins me on the show for a spectacularly random and enjoyable conversation. We talk about how TashaDoesTulsa made her an early Tulsa influencer, even if she doesn't love the label, and how the blog came to be (and would she bring it back?). We beam chatting about the glory days of Twitter in the early 2000s when we built hyper-local, supportive and fun groups of strangers and friends in 140 characters (ah, the good old days). In the midst of me maybe probably having a mid-life crisis and unexpectedly bringing up premenopause, we also cover ducks, indigo dying, librarians and BBQ sauce. It's quite a ride... Oh, and Braum's: We love you, but we have questions. Thanks for listening!

Pigs flew the day I convinced professional photographer and Tulsa geography snob Shane Bevel to leave the comfort of his midtown cocoon to join me out south for the podcast. This episode has no shortage of sarcasm aimed at anything south of 31st Street but I think Shane's love for being in the heart of the city is well balanced with his love for being literally out in the middle of nowhere. We talk about his Tulsa Public School board photo project, for which he's received a lot of love - and a little hate - and what he thinks happens next. All this and more in today's episode. Thanks for listening.

NOTES:
1. A trigger warning that we discuss a recent suicide awareness walk I attended and talk about mental health.
2. There's a LOT that went unsaid about the TPS school board and its issues the past year or more. In pretty typical fashion, I forget I'm being recorded and am just having a conversation with Shane. The downside of that is missing context. Rather than attempt to drag Shane back to south Tulsa to re-record... Visit TulsaWorld.com or do some googling to understand more about the local situation Shane discusses and the state situation I mention which was less about the board specifically (although obviously very connected) and more about the state superintendent threatening to take over the school.

Charles Elmore joins me on this episode of the show to talk about the Oklahoma film industry, growing up in the country outside Claremore (we went to high school together) and so much more. As a cinematographer/camera operator/industry advocate, Charles has some fascinating experience working behind the videocamera the past 20 years in Oklahoma, including shooting for Reservation Dogs and a number of other shows, films and commercials. We swap stories from the 90s about videotaping our lives in high school and he sort of settles a bet between my husband and I about an actor we love who may or may not spend time on scooters in downtown Tulsa... Thanks for listening!

Tina Lampe joins me in the studio, along with her sister and my bestie, Lisa Johannsson. We get a glimpse into the Frein girls' upbringing and how if they weren't hanging out on the roof of the house, Tina was sneaking out of it. Also, with her re-upped passport in hand, Tina tells the story of her and her husband's first adventure outside the U.S. and their future plans to hit the beach. (If you listen closely, you can hear my anxiety as we talk about being on open water. ) And, we swap stories from our recent trips to NYC: Lisa shares some great advice from a teacher in her youth that helped her navigate the subway and I tell the heroic story of Lilly and I battling a hoard of street rats (basically). Thanks for listening!

AHQ two timer, Adam Paluka joins me again in season two to share an update on his bestie, Britney. We also try out names for the podcast's book club, hear about his exciting new-ish relationship and discuss buff-yays (not, buff-nahs). Sorry in advance for the sound at the end while Adam "reads" the Britney tarot cards and apparently forgets he's on a podcast and mics are an important thing... Bonus: check out the show on YouTube to enjoy watching Ruby take over Adam's personal space on the couch. Thanks for listening!

Friend since 2nd grade - and my hairstylist - Ashlee Davis joins the show and I finally have my Oprah moment by making a guest cry. And in the first minute of the show. Yay? We chat about the ups and downs of sharing one's feelings on the internet and that thing we do when people come to our house and we say we're sorry for living in it. Speaking of which, we try to answer the question "why do we apologize for being human?" and talk ourselves into circles about what it means to act our age. The best part is we get the ball rolling for her future - and sure to be wildly successful - girl gang.

Jeromee Scott joins the show to chat about what it's like being an assistant news director for the News on 6 Morning Show and how it is - and definitely isn't - like The Morning Show (Apple’s version). We find out we have a lot in common including starting our own podcasts, and engaging in more serious endeavors like being local mascots. We also discover he enjoyed that experience quite a bit more than I did... Join us as we chat Ninja Turtle art, pre-teen tattoos and more!

And we're back! After a short summer break, Andrea Has Questions is back for season two. Lisa Johannsson joins me as we look back on the first season and talk about goals for the second. I share the top episodes and some of my favorite moments, and we reminisce about all the ideas we came up with live on the show and never followed through on. We also share some Tulsa stuff we've been up to, including a good amount of comedy. As always, I try to remember things and retell stories - doing all without proper fact checking. Join us as we kick off season two!

What a fun time I had chatting with Tulsa Press Club Executive Director Becki DeVore! Hear what's happening at the Club these days and what's coming soon (CFS buddies - say your prayers!). With no shortage of hidden talents, Becki shares with me some of them, including what she's working on in her garage now and where you'll find her late Sunday nights. Another inspiring conversation for me - Becki has me thinking our podcast party idea can work and that I may actually have enough friends with talents to fill a living room variety show.

If you're in Tulsa, you know it's just about Tulsa Tough time. Cyclist Lacey Taylor joins me to talk about one of the biggest weekends in the city, including the beautiful chaos that is Cry Baby Hill. Hear how she conquered her fears and jumped into the sport last year. I have to say, this recurring theme on the show of people taking risks, trying new things and finding passions they didn't know they had is one of my favorites. That, and turtles. And my future living room variety show (still taking apps if you want to participate!). We tackle it all in this episode. And you won't want to miss her #1 hack for making it "on the hill" if you plan to load up your cooler - and your pockets - on Sunday.

Lisa Johannsson is back for another edition of our casual Happy Hour show. We talk about her latest (and pretty amazing) travels and how to manifest my newest idea: a living room variety show at my house. We added having a turtle and Nate Bargatze on the show to our vision boards, and discussed the pain of having to make a phone call... to anyone... about anything. Also, I want to apologize in advance to all the dentists and dentist lovers out there for my rant about really really disliking dentists... It's not personal.

In this episode I have a lot of questions for someone whose full time job is to ask all the questions... Leah Wietholter, forensic accountant, escape room creator and future fisher of trout from a kayak, joins me to talk about all her many ventures and the motivations behind them. We chat about her impending move to SLC, how to build an escape room and all its props, and her mission to live an interesting life. This episode left me feeling inspired to try new things, and to ask my favorite comedian to be on the show when he's in town this fall. More to come on that!

This is a special Mother's Day episode for those of us whose mothers have passed away. It's not as dark as it sounds... I have conversations with several friends who tell me about their amazing moms, what they learned from them, and what they miss. Adam Paluka and Natalie Haggard join me in studio, followed by virtual chats with Ruth Sparrow and Jacquie Donovan. Let's normalize talking more about our loved ones after they leave the earth, m'kay?  And, if you've got her, hug your mom for all of us. XO

This week's episode is about girthy burritos, small towns, big drunken dreams, and so much more. Jennifer Gress (former Tulsan/current Texan/wine lounge owner) and Kristin Ware (frequent AHQ guest) join me to reminisce about Goldie's pickle bar and the dire lunch offerings near the BOK Tower 15 years ago. We hear all about how Gress decided to take her love for a nice glass of wine and turn it into owning a wine bar in a small town in Texas - now featuring the biggest patio in town, thank you very much. Watch/listen as we collectively go back into the cobwebs of our minds to try to remember the names of several Tulsa Italian restaurants... we were only wrong about one of them still being open (RIP: Mary's Trattoria). PS: If you're on the road between Houston and Austin, stop in Brenham and grab a glass at Floyd's Wine Lounge, floydslounge.net. Tell them Andrea sent you!

Kristin Ware joins the show with her BFF4EVERLLYAS, Sara Plummer, who she has gatekeeped (gatekept?) from me way too long. Gatekeep pickleball courts, Kristin, not fun people. We talk about our jealousy of our friends' other friends, Sara and Kristin's opposite food weirdsies, and provel cheese (IYKYK) among other STL quirks. I try out a new opening line for the show ... and it bombs spectacularly. So, take a listen and let me know what my opening line should be, and more importantly, if you agree that Sara's mom needs to be a guest on the show.

Investigative journalist, wine connoisseur and national TV darling (she will love that last description) Cary Aspinwall joins the show this week. We talk about Cary's work with the Marshall Project bringing to light issues with the criminal justice system, her quest to make IBS more fun, and how she and I invented the virtual happy hour - before it was pandemic cool. It's a pretty well rounded conversation, I'd say. Ruby (my dog) even sits in for this episode, and I think, learns a lot herself.

Join me and my Andy Richter - or better, my Chanel West Coast - Lisa Johannsson and the fabulous Joy McGill in the studio for happy hour. Find out how these two can be so sophisticated in some ways... and so country in other ways (I relate to that second part). We chat about being type A (just face it, Lisa) and get Joy's tips for being effortlessly fabulous.  And if you know me at all, you probably won't be surprised about how I'm doing on my latest self-improvement challenge but you may be surprised about what I did to the doughnuts... It's happy hour!

In this episode, I talk to Ms. Tulsa herself, Morgan Phillips. Former editor of TulsaPeople magazine and director of marketing and experience at Downtown Tulsa Partnership, Morgan has well earned the title. We talk about all things downtown Tulsa, she tries to guess my enneagram number and I get insight into her celebrity crush (Taylor, I have a spot for you on AHQ - give me a ring!).

No happy hour plans? Join us! It's another edition of Lisa and I having our typical happy hour chat - but on video because we like the way our voices sound on the mics. We talk upcoming travel, gym mishaps, and the do's and don'ts of managing an backyard poop bucket (we're classy, folks). Find out why Lisa starts and ends this episode in tears, and get a sneak peek of the new AHQ studio - nearing completion!

This episode is proof I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom. My daughter Lilly (Lillian, for when she's a grandmother) joins me to talk about how she went from being a theatre major to pre-law, her love of that one Springsteen song and the lengths she'll go to proving she's right. We also reminisce on one of my first talk show host experiences, foreshadowing where I am today, and agree on our favorite McNellie's.

It’s happy hour time for Lisa and I… Don’t have happy hour plans? You can sit with us! Join us for a new weekly-ish AHQ “Happy Hour” series and listen in while you enjoy a fancy beverage, stall on your drive home from work or do chores around the house. In this episode, we talk traveling to foreign countries and very small towns, how to get @yachtmama going on TikTok, Lisa's memories of Saturday morning teen TV and the next chapter of the AHQ journey.

Long-time friend and sorta second-time AHQ guest, Kristin Ware joins me to talk about how we met as interns many years ago over lots of paper, her love of a hard-to-pronounce - and now easier-to-get in Oklahoma - beer, our collective love of improv (to watch not to do!), and her insistence that she has a (fake) bunko group (bunko isn't real). I try to show interest in said fake activity, while also sharing some valuable lessons I have learned on the mic the past month.

My friend and renaissance man, Josh Butts stopped by in this episode to share some breaking news about his family's upcoming adventure to a new land. Hint: He may run into Sheriff Longmire. We also talk about man's other great adventure - the snip snap - as well as being a running "ringer" in the military, twitching quickly or slowly, and much more. Let's just say I left this conversation with more questions than I started out with...

Where do YOU take visitors to Tulsa? For my sister-in-law Natalie, she showed her cousin Molly (AKA “A1isTasty” on Yahoo) a heck of a time in just 24 hours. Imagine one magical day of hitting the pizza buffet for toppings, the Walmart beauty counter for eyelashes, and then getting botox at a downtown Hampton Inn. You won't want to miss learning about these - and other - special opportunities you can share with your guests next time they're in the big city.
