My name is Anna Grutzner and my intention is to discuss, embody and share my learnings in psychology and wellness, before I re-commence part-time fourth year Psychology study in 2023. This is a platform to refresh my own knowledge, to stimulate conversation, inspiration and connection. I welcome you on this journey of learning, unlearning and re-learning what it means to be well.
In this episode of In-joy, I dive into the power of social media algorithms and how they shape our daily lives. I share my personal experience of stepping away from social media and how focusing on personal growth and self-care shifted my perspective and freed up time to learn and do what I love. I also discuss the challenges posed by social media algorithms, particularly for those dealing with eating disorders, where mixed messaging about what we should and shouldn’t put into our bodies can be overwhelming. We’ll explore how to use resonance as a filter for discerning what’s true for you in a world overflowing with information. I also offer practical tips for hacking your news feed to ensure you’re consuming content that uplifts and inspires you, rather than dragging you down. In this episode of ‘In-Joy’, I explore the delicate balance between yin and yang, or feminine and masculine energy. Discover what it means to embody balanced yang qualities like being grounded, proactive, and energised, as well as balanced yin traits such as being calm, intuitive, and restful. I'll discuss the challenges of having too much yang energy, which can lead to burnout and incessant busyness, and too much yin energy, which can result in passivity and lethargy.Tune in to learn practical tips for engaging your yang energy when you need more structure and action, such as setting goals, building a morning routine and spending time outdoors. Additionally, I'll share ways to cultivate your yin energy for those times when you need to slow down and rejuvenate, including meditation, deep breathing, and taking time for self-reflection.Whether you're looking to boost your productivity or find a peaceful balance, this episode offers insights and actionable steps to help you harmonise your energies and live a more balanced life.
Manifestation is a powerful tool for transforming your life, in ways that are still unknown to us. Whether it's aligning with your dream career, fulfilling relationships, financial abundance, or a sense of inner peace, manifestation is believed to help you transform your desires into reality.
This mini episode breaks down the process of manifesting - from visualising your goals to affirming them in the present tense, expressing gratitude and embodying your 'manifested self', in order to become that version of you.
Drawing on insights from renowned thought leaders like Joe Dispenza, Roxie Nafousi and Abraham Hicks, I delve into the principles of manifestation, and the importance of living as if your desires are already fulfilled. I also offer my personal stories of success and frustration, providing practical and relatable tips on harnessing this powerful practice and getting out of your own way.
If you're curious about manifesting your dreams into reality, or if you're sceptical but open-minded, this episode may be for you. I hope you enjoy!

This episodes explores 3 essential ingredients to a good life: self-care, habits, routines and emotional regulation in your work.
Self-Care: Your Foundation
Self-care forms the essential foundation for a balanced and fulfilling life, to enable greater balance, inner peace, and joy in your everyday moments. I discuss my discovery of self-care during eating disorder recovery and what this looks like for me now.
Routines: Your Commitments
I talk on the importance of developing positive, lasting habits that pave the way to your version of success. Everyday practices that super-charge your 'autopilot', giving you a strong foundation to fall back on when life gets busy and demanding.
Career: Emotional Regulation at Work
Many people blame their jobs for their stress however there are two-sides of the coin. Sometimes us 'Type A's' are our own worst enemy, adding unnecessary pressure and stress through perfectionism, achievement and hyper-productivity.

This episode is about listening to your body. Listening even if it makes you uncomfortable, even if it makes you absent, even if it means sleeping for a whole week, even if that relationship ends, or that job, or those comforts you think you can’t live without. The only thing you can’t live without you is you, so we can learn to listen and trust in our body to heal.

Why do I feel like crap before my period, when 2 weeks before, I was happy and fabulous? Why do I have aches in my torso/back and why are my hands/feet so cold? Why am I so emotional some days, then confident and relaxed on others? These are the questions many women find themselves asking, depending on the time of the month.Recapping a workshop I attended, this episode explores the menstrual cycle from an eastern and western perspective, to better understand how and why women feel differently throughout their 28 day hormonal cycle. Unlike our male friends whose hormones follow a 24-hour cycle (like the sun), we are not supposed to be the same each day. Rather, we move with the moon over 28 days. The good news is, every part of the wave-like cycle serves a purpose when we learn how to synch up!Excuse my pronunciation on almost every medical term I come across and please DM me with your questions, thoughts and experiences ✨ @in_joy_podcast

I speak to the lost years of COVID19 and how this impacted those in their late 20s / early 30s, as well as the insecurity of making decisions differently to those around you.
I explore developmental psychology and the lessons we learn from infancy through childhood and adolescence into adulthood. What happens when miss those lessons? How do we move forward?

Today I dial in from London to Byron Bay to meet with the incredible Shani Timms - the soulful entrepreneur, business owner, podcaster, graphic designer and creator of many things.
"Design" is a key theme showing up in Shani's life, in many different forms. Today we dive into her discovery of Human Design - a system that articulates our energetic makeup, unique gifts and purpose.
Shani shares her experiences bringing Human Design into her life and business as a ⅗ Emotional Projector - finding success (her alignment theme) by waiting for the right invitations (her strategy) and making decisions from a neutral place (her emotional authority).
Human Design is something I am so interested in and passionate about. It is incredibly comprehensive so I hope this conversation provides an entry point for anyone interested in learning more. Enjoy!

I am so excited to introduce you to my very first In-Joy guest, Dad, or more formally, Dr Richard Grutzner.
With a doctor-nurse duo for parents, my earliest memories of psycho-education start here. As such, this feels like the perfect place to kick off my interview series.
Dad shares his keys to success, along with 'a day the life' of an anaesthetist, patient psychological profiles, industry stressors, mental health insights and naturally, a few below-average dad jokes to keep spirits high.
He shares his experiences working in a multi-disciplinary team treating depressed patients with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), which is both somber and eye opening.
He shares insights into his early career in medicine, working days straight without sleep or a break.
In this way, we explore two sides of the same coin - the psychological experiences of a doctor, as well as the patient.

Taking a slightly different approach this week, focusing on material from my first week back to school! Recording myself and listening back is an old learning trick of mine, so I’m opening part of that journey to anyone interested in psychology research, theory or study.
I explore evidence-based theories, including Goal Setting by Locke & Latham: my 15-minute take following hours deep in academic journals. She’s a bit dry, but hang in there for some personal anecdotes and modern takes sprinkled throughout.
We will cover:
What is goal setting? Why is it important? What are the different types of goals? How can we achieve them?

We will cover, in no particular order:
What is perfectionism? What are the different types? What are the mental health outcomes? How can we practice imperfection and vulnerability? What are the benefits in doing this?
I both hate and love this episode. You can hear the discomfort in my voice. I hope this makes you feel safe to explore discomfort in your world.

A conversation on the psychology of attachment.
What is attachment style? What are the 3 types? How do they show up in infants relative to their caregivers, and how to they impact our adult relationships later on in life? What can I look out for in assessing the attachment style of myself, or another? How do the attachment styles relate to one another in terms of compatibility, and what are some common traps and cycles? How can we resolve these, and work toward secure attachments and relationships?
I will do my best to answer all these questions and more!

Today, I explore the seven key attitudes of mindfulness: non-judging, patience, beginners mind, trust, non-striving, acceptance and letting go.
I understand the logic of mindfulness but have always struggled with the implementation and embodiment. For this episode, I channel my inner therapist, to identify how these attitudes are, or are not showing up in my life.
My process in this podcast journey (so far) is to learn and share the topic simultaneously. Then I go back into my day-to-day and the real learning begins. Since recording, I have so many more examples and changes I want to make, but in practice of non-striving, accepting and letting go, I’m sharing this shambles with you now. I hope you in-joy.Access the Seven Key Attitudes of Mindfulness and link to headspace 5-minute meditation:
