Full disclaimer - surprisingly, I am not a habit expert. However, I’m a learning expert, and that means I’ve designed programs to address large-scale behavior change in organizations. So I will be sharing my practical experience, which involves no expertise in neuroscience.
And I’ll list a few of the resources, namely books, that I believe offer great habit-building hacks.
So let’s get started!

Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist. And today we’re going to talk about Bible translations because while the aim of all Bibles is to give us the word of God, the process of translation leaves us with a variety to choose from.
As a feminist, Bible translations is an interesting topic, because the topic of gender comes up frequently among translators.
And that leaves us with the question of what’s the best Bible translation?
There are a lot of factors and this does get confusing. So that’s what we’re here to discuss.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably heard someone boast about how early they get up and do all the things before the sun rises.
Because of my kids, I’m in a season of my life where that’s actually happening every day.
But I have no intention of rising quite so early when life changes.
Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist. And as someone whose personal time always feels like it belongs to someone else, I’m a bit sensitive about this topic.
I know what it feels like when it seems everyone else wants a piece of you.
You might respond by trying to do all the things in order to gain someone’s approval or you might want to rebel against all the rules.
I’ve done both.
But let’s dig deeper into this topic, because it is important.
Let’s take away all the rules and the shrouds or musts and see why early morning devotions might be right rather than just assume that it is.
God doesn’t only want our obedience - he invites all that we are - mind, body, and spirit - to seek him.

How should you read the Bible? And this is really more about your attitude when you go to read it.
Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist. And as someone who feels committed to allowing people to worship God of their own volition, I have a hard time talking about this topic.
And that’s because how you approach God, how you approach Bible reading can change based on your level of maturity, faith, and experience.
God isn’t about one-size-fits-most solutions.
He has unique relationships with every single person - including you.

Yes, there is more than one way to read the Bible. In fact, I’m going to show you seven ways to deepen your daily Bible reading.
Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist. And I love reading the Bible!!
Can I be honest and tell you that I don’t find it easy to stick with one way of reading the Bible.
And that’s okay. Because I’m at an age where I can easily look back and see how different my needs were at different times in my life.
Bible reading approaches can change. Even the tools can change! But the habit of turning to the Bible frequently doesn’t need to.

What should we read in the Bible?
The Bible isn’t just a book, it’s a library. And that means it’s not as easy as picking up a book like this David Weber book here.
By the way, I love David Weber's books. And when I sit down to read them, there’s no question about where to start.
Can you imagine the look on his face if I told him that I just bopped around in his books until I found the passages I liked?

Why is the Bible so confusing?
That’s the question we’re here to discuss.
Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist talking about a God that loves works with men and women equally. A totally radical concept, right?
I was raised with the Bible, so there’s this sense of me that wonders how anyone can have trouble reading the Bible.
But if I’m honest, there are times when I read something and just go right past it. It didn’t make sense and so I didn’t pay attention.
For example, here’s a passage from Jeremiah in the King James version, “Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.”
What does that even mean?
Join me as we talk about that and even more in this episode! ♥️

Why is Bible reading so important?
That’s the question we’re here to discuss.
Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist talking about a Christianity that’s free from patriarchy!
I might surprise you with what I’m going to say here. But you don’t need to read your Bible to be a Christian. That’s right. You heard it here. But before you switch this off or run to your pastor to tell on me, let me explain.
The reason I believe you don’t need to read your Bible to be a Christian is that people have been following Jesus for 2000 years.
And what do you think the chances are that everyone who lived as a Christian read the Bible?
Pretty low, right?
So you don’t need to read your Bible, but it is beneficial.
And I have five reasons we should read our Bibles regularly. Join me in this episode!

Is the Bible repressive?
I can’t answer this with a simple yes or no without risking a misunderstanding.
Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist.
And it’s probably no surprise that I believe the Bible offers unparalleled freedom. However, I also understand that from a different perspective, some may view it as repressive, oppressive, or even suppressive.
In this series, we’re exploring how to read the Bible because if it is a source of freedom, then it is worth digging into.
And If you’re curious about what it means to love God without needing to fit yourself into a hierarchy, then be sure to subscribe for more content.

Is the Bible still relevant today? Or is it too full of superstition and misogyny to offer insight into our lives?
That’s what we’re here to discuss.
Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist. And I believe the Bible still matters today.
It still applies to the situations and circumstances we face just as it has in every century and decade before us.
In this series, we’re exploring how to read the Bible because if it contains as much wisdom as many believe, then learning how to extract that and implement it in our lives will make a massive difference in how we live.

Can I trust the Bible? Is the Word of God really something a modern feminist can trust?
That’s what I’m here to discuss with you.
Kate here, and I’m the Reluctant Christian Feminist. And I have a confession to make. I love the Bible.
This is the first in a series where we talk about how to read the Bible.
And I wanted to start by answering the question, can we trust the Bible?
Because if we can’t, it doesn’t even make sense to read, right?
