In this episode, I share three valuable lessons I've learned as a solo entrepreneur over the past decade. The first lesson is that authenticity is paramount when it comes to building trust and credibility. It's crucial to be genuine and transparent in our business practices, avoiding false advertising and misleading customers. By staying true to ourselves and our values, we establish a strong foundation for long-term success.
The second lesson I discuss is the importance of showing up. Reliability plays a significant role in building a reputable brand. When we make commitments, it's vital to follow through and be present. By consistently delivering on our promises, we earn the trust and respect of our clients and customers.
Lastly, I emphasize the significance of referrals in growing a business. Building strong relationships with clients, partners, and trusted sources can lead to valuable referrals. Word-of-mouth recommendations are incredibly powerful and often more effective than any marketing campaign. By focusing on creating a positive experience for our clients and customers, we increase the likelihood of receiving referrals that can help expand our business.
Moving forward, I'm committed to improving the content I provide. I plan to release new videos every week, and you can also listen to the Building Small Business podcast, where each video will be available as an episode. I appreciate your support and look forward to continuing our journey together as we strive to do meaningful work. Remember to tune in every Monday morning for fresh video content. Thank you for joining me today, and I'll see you again next week.
During the speech, the speaker focuses on discussing the top five common mistakes that most people commit while starting their small business and particularly as a solo entrepreneur. The first and foremost mistake that the speaker highlights is the failure to identify the target audience. To avoid this mistake, the speaker suggests researching and defining the audience using various methods. The speaker then moves on to discuss the second mistake, which is neglecting to build a solid business plan. It is essential to have a detailed business plan that outlines objectives, strategies, and goals, as it can help avoid future problems.
The speaker also emphasized the third mistake, which is ignoring the importance of financial management. Having a financial management system in place can help the business stay on track and make informed decisions. The fourth mistake that the speaker discusses is underestimating the power of marketing. A business may have a great product or service, but without effective marketing, it may not reach its full potential. The speaker suggests utilizing different marketing strategies that would best fit the business's needs.
The fifth mistake that the speaker mentions is trying to do everything alone. The speaker suggests outsourcing tasks that are outside of the business owner's expertise. It is essential to identify personal strengths and weaknesses to identify where it is better to outsource.
To avoid these mistakes and achieve success, the speaker provides several pieces of advice. Joining networking groups and mentorship programs can help connect with other businesses and subcontractors to outsource work and learn from their experiences. The speaker also highlights the importance of seeking help whenever necessary.
Finally, the speaker invites the audience to join the Building Small Biz group, which consists of weekly videos on building small businesses. In conclusion, the speaker emphasizes that avoiding these five common mistakes can help entrepreneurs in creating a solid foundation for their small business and increasing their chances of success.
In this podcast, we discuss the importance of having a well-crafted business plan, even for solo entrepreneurs. The host compares a business plan to a roadmap, outlining the necessary steps required for success. Defining the vision, conducting market research, setting goals, designing a business model, and creating a marketing plan are significant components of crafting a business plan that the speaker emphasizes.
We talk about setting SMART goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound to stay focused and achieve milestones. A well-designed business model ensures the sustainability and profitability of a business, while a marketing plan drives brand awareness and customer acquisition. It's essential to identify the most effective marketing channels and prioritize efforts on what drives the biggest results.
Moreover, we discuss the essential components of a sound business plan, including vision, market research, goals, business model, marketing plan, team and operations, financial projections, and risk evaluation. The speaker emphasizes creating a compelling brand story that differentiates from competitors and tailoring messaging to resonate with a target audience.
Additionally, we discuss the importance of financial projections and risk evaluation for creating a realistic budget and mitigating potential risks. The speaker invites the audience to share what they struggle with the most in their business plan.
In conclusion, having a well-crafted business plan is essential for any entrepreneur, regardless of the size of their business. By outlining the necessary steps, including setting SMART goals, designing a solid business model, and creating an effective marketing plan, an entrepreneur can stay focused and achieve their desired milestones.
In their speech, the speaker shares about their experience at Sales Camp and how it helped them discover their identity in Christ. They discuss the various exercises they did to achieve this, including coming up with their personal "I am" statements. The speaker emphasizes the importance of creating these statements and encourages listeners to do the same.
The speaker believes that repeating these affirmations daily is crucial to truly believing them. They suggest writing down the "I am" statements and reciting them every day until they become a part of one's belief system. Doing so can help individuals become more confident and secure in their identity in Christ.
Additionally, the speaker suggests changing the typical response to "How are you?" The speaker suggests replacing the standard "I'm fine" response with "I'm unbelievable." The idea behind this is to strive for a positive and empowering attitude towards ourselves, no matter the circumstances. This simple change in response can eventually lead to a shift in mindset and increased positivity in daily life.
Overall, the speaker encourages individuals to take control of their identity in Christ and to actively work towards building a positive self-image. By doing so, individuals can experience newfound confidence and strength in all areas of their lives.
In this podcast, we discuss the topic of building a service-based business as a solo entrepreneur. The process of starting a business can be easy and straightforward, as it can begin with something as simple as buying $100 worth of necessary tools to start a landscaping or window cleaning business.
Building a strong reputation and doing good work should be the primary focus of any solo entrepreneur. The aim is to ensure that your service is regarded as top-notch, which is crucial to growing and sustaining the business in the long run.
Furthermore, recording the process of building the business can be beneficial, as it can be used to create marketing content that can be shared on social media platforms. This can not only increase exposure to potential clients but also contribute to building a loyal following on social media.
In conclusion, starting a solo service-based business can be done without significant complexities. By concentrating on creating a good reputation and doing great work, coupled with leveraging social media marketing, solo entrepreneurs can jumpstart their brand and flourish in their respective niche.
You can't always choose or change your circumstances, but you CAN choose and change your attitude, and attitude affects how we remember the experience.

In "Think and Grow Rich," Napoleon Hill discusses the concept of the "Six Basic Fears" that often hold individuals back from achieving their goals and reaching success. Here are the six basic fears outlined in the book:
These six basic fears, according to Hill, are deeply ingrained in human nature and can be major obstacles on the path to success and personal growth. However, he emphasizes that by understanding and confronting these fears, individuals can overcome them and unlock their full potential. The book provides guidance on developing courage, self-confidence, and a positive mindset to conquer these fears and move forward towards achieving one's goals.…
Take away the dross from silver, And it will go to the silversmith for jewelry. Take away the wicked from before the king, And his throne will be established in righteousness.
Proverbs 25:4-5 NKJV
The people you associate with have a massive influence on your success. Make sure those you hang out with are pushing you in the direction you want to go.
As long as you're focus on what you're moving away from you're likely to experience fear, resentment, anger, and even depression.
As soon as you get a clear picture of what you're moving to, you will get a wave of confidence, boldness, and enthusiasm that can move you forward…
There's a saying, "if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life".
This is not entirely true, and may border on completely false.
The truth of the matter is, if you do what you're specially designed to be able to do, your work will be fulfilling and rewarding.

1. We live today in a golden age with abundant opportunities2. Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal3. 95% of people forfeit success for conformity
“All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.” – Earl Nightingale
4. Instead of competing, all we have to do is create5. People who set goals succeed because they know where they’re going6. They both work hard7. We become what we think about.8. Believe and succeed
“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.” – Earl Nightingale
9. Everything worthwhile in life came to us free10. We must be willing to pay the price11. Ideas are worthless unless we act on them
This is where creating the outcomes you want in life ultimately begins....with the information you consume.
Be consciously intentional about what you allow to enter your mind; it affects what you think, say, and do. Which controls your outcomes, and your future.
You literally have the power to shape your future with the thoughts you think. And you have the capability to CHOOSE the thoughts you think.
What this means for you is that you can CHOOSE THE FUTURE YOU WANT.
Choose your thoughts wisely.

Proverbs 27:17 said it first and best: Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
We NEED people around us who push us to become more of who God made us to be. People who can bring out our natural gifts and skills.
A good friend will:
Those things and more are the results of a strong community of diverse friends.
I created an online community for men that's doing those things and more. We're small, but growing. We're pushing each other to be the best that we can possibly be, so we can create the greatest possible impact with our lives.
I'd love for you to join us.
All successful people have a goal. No one can get anywhere unless he knows where he wants to go and what he wants to be or do. ~ Norman Vincent Peale

Some people seem to always speak with a hidden meaning behind their actual words. These same people tend to look for hidden meanings in everything you say.
Listen in for how to deal with that.
You are more than the sum of your possessions and relationships.
Even if you lose it all, you are still a human being who God made and loves very much.
Allow God to give you the definition of who/what you are.
1 Start SmallOne of the best ways to sharpen your social sills is by starting small in your day-to-day life. Small talk is a great way to sharpen your social skills, and it doesn't take much extra effort. The next time a neighbor says good morning, be willing to engage in a short chat.
2 Ask Open-Ended QuestionsOpen-ended questions are a great way to enhance your social interactions. Instead of asking questions that end with a quick "yes" or "no", ask questions that require more thoughtful answers. This will help keep people engaged and you won't feel like you have to carry the conversation on your own.
3 Seek Like-Minded PeopleIf you struggle in social situations, why not try to make things easier for yourself? Try to find like-minded people that share similar interests as you. You will naturally feel more at ease when you are talking about the things you already love.
4 Develop Your Active Listening SkillsSocial skills are just as much about listening as they are about speaking. You should ensure that you are a good active listener. Active listening means making eye contact, using other non-verbal cues and otherwise seeming interested in the person speaking to you.
5 Become a Better StorytellerBeing able to tell a great story is one of the best ways to sharpen your social skills. No matter how awkward or anxious you might feel, if you can tell a story that gets everyone on the edge of their seat or busting a gut you will be remembered. A great way to practice storytelling is actually by writing them.
6 Learn to Read Body LanguageYou don't have to be a master of body language yourself, but you should learn the basics. When you know what to look out for, you will know how people are responding to you. You will know when to stop talking, as well as when to continue. You will know if people are engaged, or annoyed.
7 Plan a Few Good Conversation StartersIf you struggle in social situations, make sure you have a couple good conversation starters or stories in your back pocket. To begin with, this will make you more confident in your social interaction. It will also ensure you have something to say when the conversation dwindles.
8 Shut Down The DistractionsThis is going to be hard to hear for some people, but you should probably turn your phone off. It's impossible to have meaningful social interactions if you are constantly checking your phone. If you can't bring yourself to turn your phone off, at least keep it in your pocket.
9 You Get What You GiveLike most things in life, when it comes to social interactions, you get back what you put in. If you want people to be interested in you, then show interest in them. If you want people to be kind, then show them kindness first. Social interactions are most pleasant when they are reciprocal.
Stop telling yourself you're not "motivated" to go do the thing.
Change it to, I'm not "DISCIPLINED" to go do it.
Values are the principles and beliefs that guide our behavior and decision-making. They serve as a moral compass that helps us determine what is right and wrong, and they shape the way we interact with the world around us. Some common values include honesty, responsibility, compassion, respect, and integrity.
Having a strong sense of personal values is important because it helps us stay true to ourselves and our beliefs, even when faced with challenges or difficult decisions. It gives us the courage to stand up for what we believe in and make choices that align with our values, rather than succumbing to external pressures.
Values also play a crucial role in forming our relationships and communities. When we share similar values with others, we are able to connect on a deeper level and build strong, meaningful relationships. On a larger scale, shared values help to create a sense of unity and community, leading to a more harmonious and inclusive society.
Ultimately, our values are an essential part of who we are and shape the person we become. By taking the time to reflect on our values and make conscious choices that align with them, we can live a fulfilling and meaningful life, both for ourselves and for others.
The average CEO reads more 1 book/week.
While you and I might not be CEOs, we can still benefit from this principle; great leaders are always learning and implementing.
What books are you reading?
From the book, Atomic Habits.
From How to Own Your Own Mind, by Napoleon Hill:
An educated man is one who has so developed his mind through a combination of knowledge and expression of knowledge that he can reshape any set of circumstance to meet the requirements of his desires.
Unless a man becomes action conscious he will never become an organized thinker
He may think from morning until night but unless he puts his thoughts into action he will be nothing more than a daydreamer.
He may theorize but he will never learn to perform any sort of practical service.
