The newly formed Federation of International Hemp Organizations (FIHO) has named a director general after elections that established the organization’s first board of directors.
FIHO appointed Fredéric Vallier, who served as Secretary General of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions for 12 years, as its first-ever director general. Vallier has a background in government relations, sustainability and industry. He will report to the newly elected board of directors.

Two hemp companies are pushing back against the seizure of a legal shipment of hemp products from Paraguay to Costa Rica, reflecting growing pains as countries across Latin America implement hemp laws and regulations.
Paraguayan producer Healthy Grains SA dispatched a shipment including chocolates and gummies, vapes, pet food, and hemp cigarettes with CBD to Costa Rica Hemp SA on Oct. 15. Costa Rica’s Drug Control Police stopped the shipment, placing the receiving company under suspicion of drug trafficking, and are still holding the products, according to the Latin American Industrial Hemp Association (LAIHA), which has intervened in the matter.

The bombs haven’t stopped Kovalenkov, who has launched “Hemp. Ukraine. Recover.”, a non-profit fund aimed at providing sustainable hemp housing solutions and psychological help for citizens and veterans affected by the war.

A U.S.-based hemp trade group dormant for more than two decades is being reborn to advance “hemp’s first billion-dollar segment” – seed-based food, organizers announced this week.
The Hemp Food Association (HFA) said the hemp seed’s potential to meet pressing challenges in the food supply, for environmental renewal and to spawn new businesses make this the right time to raise the profile of the sector, noting it does not suffer from problems of hemp extract and fiber producers where progress remains slow.
