Integration. Redesigned. unpacks ideas, trends, and topics that directly impact developers and tech professionals who are managing resources, costs, executive demands, security and risk, customer experience and an ever-evolving landscape of new solution providers. The podcast is presented by Digibee, an eiPaaS solution that bridges the gap between current systems and new technologies and helps connect data and platforms that have never been connected before, regardless of underlying silos or legacy infrastructure.
In this episode of Integration Redesigned, host Cait Porte welcomes back Matt Durham, Head of Strategy at Digibee, to discuss how Digibee empowers MuleSoft users to overcome key limitations. They delve into three main topics:
Legacy Software and Integration Updates:
Cait compares consumer technology's automatic updates to legacy integration software's challenges. Matt explains that legacy software upgrades require complex processes, including stopping runtimes, testing, and more. Cloud technologies like DigiBee manage the integration stack, eliminating these upgrade pains.
Impact of Legacy Integration on Workloads:
The discussion focuses on the 2023 State of Enterprise Integration Report's data that shows 60% of backlog projects require integration support. Matt emphasizes that legacy integration vendors have resource constraints due to their certified developer model. DigiBee stands out by providing a user-friendly solution that doesn't require extensive certifications.
Pricing and Innovation:
The episode ends with a discussion on pricing models. Matt contrasts legacy integration's costly and complex pricing with Digibee's consumption-based model. He highlights that legacy vendors protect high margins through perpetual licenses and maintenance fees, which can hinder innovation. Matt suggests that businesses should consider the vendor's investment in technology for driving growth and innovation.
Cait and Matt stress the importance of innovative technologies that align with a company's growth goals. They conclude by highlighting the significance of choosing solutions that prioritize innovation and help businesses evolve successfully.

In this episode of the podcast "Integration Redesigned," host Cait Porte interviews Duncan McFadden from Lowe's. Duncan is responsible for enterprise platform support for ServiceNow at Lowe's. The conversation revolves around Lowe's integration solution with Digibee and how it has improved their shipping logistics.
Lowe’s SWAP-IT program at their Technology Service Center aims to reduce operating expenses while maintaining service levels by properly exchanging IT equipment out in their stores. Digibee has contributed to its success by updating tracking numbers, statuses, and reducing charge fees for Lowe's. Duncan shares that initially, Lowe's was facing issues with shipping integrations, with random errors occurring and no proper logging system in place. Through a chance encounter with individuals from Digibee, they began working together to find a solution.
The old integration system Lowe's used was SOAP-based and built in 2017, which caused inconsistencies in tracking and delivery statuses. By partnering with Digibee and implementing a modern shipping integration solution, Lowe's has seen improvements in error monitoring, logging, and email notifications. While there is still a small percentage of issues remaining, overall, the integration has resulted in better performance and reduced manual efforts.
Duncan mentions that the implementation of Digibee's solution has allowed Lowe's to automate the receiving process, eliminating the need for manual input and saving valuable time. By redirecting resources to more crucial tasks, Lowe's has been able to increase productivity and reduce costs significantly. The platform also provides enhanced visibility through detailed logging, allowing Duncan and another individual to monitor and address any issues effectively.
The conversation concludes with Duncan expressing his intention to utilize Digibee for future projects, particularly in inventory and asset management. Given the size and scope of Lowe's operations, inventory and asset management are crucial aspects that impact both consumers and the business itself. By leveraging Digibee's ease of use and capabilities, Lowe's aims to streamline these processes and ensure efficient store layouts, trucking operations, and consumer availability of products.
