Star Wars. Every Week. Forever.: Recent Episodes

Star Wars. Every Week. Forever.

Chris, J. and Ben aren‘t entirely sure why they‘re doing this. Is it out of love for Star Wars, or is it out of hate for Star Wars? Do they want to kill a sacred cow within their hearts? Or are they just incredibly dumb individuals with opinions™©®? They‘re not sure.

One thing is for certain. They‘re doing this. One mainline Star Wars movie a week until the galaxy collapses in on itself. What has begun cannot be undone. Watch them as they slowly go crazy, lose all logical points of view, fail to create a coherent format for a podcast, and, eventually, slowly wither and die. This is, after all, a podcast about mortality as much as it is about a dumb space movie.

Come on, gang, get up and work out like a Jedi with Ben!  Join the gang as they follow Ben on the journey of the strangest novelization yet as they introduce a new fresh canonical segment, talk about awkwardly falling garbage, Darth Vader's cooking habits, Ben's new Star Wars Truther gimmick, and rocks.

To Ben's credit, he did his absolute best to provide the content we all need from the original trilogy rewrites of the original novels.  Much of that content still makes it into this episode, and it is both wacky and fascinating.  All of that being said... this episode will instead be remembered for something quite different.  A fact that sparks a conspiracy of epic, unlikely, and hilarious proportions.  A question that will haunt the dreams of the cast forevermore.  Join us, as we discover just who Porkins is exactly.

As Ben continues on with the work that is the longest of his novelizations, one glimmer of hope helps him through this difficult week:  Watching one of these movies in the same room as another member of the crew for the first time ever.  Join Josh, Ben, and Chris as they get angry about unhelpful subtitles, break down over a bit they THOUGHT they all shared and understood, finger guns, Pirate Palps, and similarities between Disney-related properties and Star Wars plots whose seeds were laid far before the acquisition.

Already feeling the effects of the project before him, Ben has now experienced the strange phenomena of RA Salvatore (author of many Forgotten Realms novels and also the guy who dropped a moon on Chewie) writing the high 'romance' and 'mystery' that is Attack Of The Clones.  Join him as he tells the tale of the Lars Homestead's strange, daytime television racism, droid oppression, capitalism, and hired cameo's of people we want to sing to us.  We apologize ahead of time if you are a fan of Salvatore.

As the gang rings in the fourth rotation, Ben begins an uphill climb of a project in reading all of the Star Wars movie novelizations throughout the rotation.  Join him as he tells the tale, the gang discusses Liam Neeson's strange habits, aliens, fanta, and Josh mourns the loss of his twenties by ringing in the thirties with recording a Star Wars podcast.

As we round out the third rotation of the podcast, it is proven that the fired has not gone out.  Join the gang as they iron out miscommunications in characters JJ cast in Star Wars AND Lost, talk about the very strange backstories of new characters, add in all of the necessary George Lucas Special Edition edits in the form of force ghosts, expose Palpatine's many many weaknesses and then devolve (as they always do) into the sweet embrace of the bits.

In a watch that was surprisingly good for 2/3rds of the gang, tune in as the gang rapid-fires bits, repeatedly messes up DJ's name, talk about Snoke and Kylo Ren's relationship in-canon, discuss alternate timelines, present foley changes to the film and talk about the long and sorted history of Admiral Ackbar while Chris curls into a ball in the corner.

In perhaps the beginning of the greatest valley of the project yet, the gang attempts to keep their spirits up and fail over and over again.  Tune into their misery as Ben gets more mad than he's ever been on the podcast, Josh tries earnestly to fill the void with bits, new and old and doomed, Chris expresses his love for the movie and his distaste for bits, and finally, the gang gets really obsessed with balls.

A tale of two different tones in a podcast!  Join the gang in the final episode of the 3rd rotation trilogy arc, The Redemption Of Accountant Vader, and then watch old salt begin to stew.  Listen to the gang as they discuss the gap between the two releases of the radio dramas, the final encounter within the Death Star and it's formatting within an audio-only journey, return to notes from the previous movie, and then put an end once-and-for-all to the Ewok Ethic Conundrum.

The middle episode of the Redemption Of Accountant Vader arc see's Chris go on a very precarious branch in order to defend a controversial standpoint, Ben vehemently disagree, and Josh live in two different timelines of feelings in regards to it.  Join the gang as they go on a rant at the top of the show, talk about War Crimes, discuss the perspective of those that had to deal with Han and Leia's arguments, return to the dining hall, discuss strange voice acting choices and strange new scenes, and pose the season finale of Downtime Darth.

As the dawn of the third rotation of the original trilogy begins, so to does rise the Accountant Vader saga!  Join Ben and Chris as they depart into the unknown territory that is the Star Wars Radio Drama (as recomposed and restored by youtuber Nige L), and experience their discussions of uncomfortably expanded scenes, unusual voice acting decisions, expand upon newly forming podcast-related traditions, watch Ben finally break the gang in regards to podracing and once again birth a new reoccurring segment.

The best Star Wars movie?  Based on how much the gang enjoyed this watch, apparently!  Join the gang as they discuss the wonderful wonders that is camp, discuss Palpatine's need for laser eye surgery, talk a long time about Star Wars funeral services, get really metaphysical about what the podcast is as a lifeform, and then spend a long time analyzing a couple of frames of the movie that they see as incomplete.  Strap in, the exhaustion has truly begun to set into their tattered little repetitive brains.

As one of the worst watches of the podcast so far comes and goes, join the gang as they join their weekly group therapy.  Bare witness to talk of changing actors, more Disney+ pitches, discuss the legitimacy of Qui-Gon's morality, talk even MORE about midi-chlorians, and present an entirely new segment.

The problem with a forever podcast?  Star Wars does not care about what is going on in your life.  Ring in the new year with the gang on a somber note as they start the third rotation, talk about dated CGI, people attempting to murder a small child multiple times, Guy Dooku, get really obsessed with obviously not-canon midi-chlorian counts, and ponder if the universe is humoring Qui-Gon Jinn on a grand, conspiratorial scale.

In the words of Josh, 'I'M FREE!'

As the second rotation rounds out with the end of 2020, join the gang as they once again express their frustration with this movie, talk a bit about other possible versions of it, their fear of a Snyder-esque cut, the age limit of murders using the Skywalker lightsaber, and Josh's personal White Whale that ended the special features watches that nearly broke him, The Skywalker Legacy documentary.

Behold, a new tradition!  Join Chris as he drags Ben and Josh into watching the Holiday Special every Christmas forever!  Experience the disturbingly unnatural and deeply problematic forgotten piece of Star Wars history, and fall down the rabbit hole of it's insanity, including but not limited to;  Jefferson Starship and their plutonium mics, doll Mark Hamill, Han Solo's strange offensive animated face, how much better Bea Arthur is than this trash creation, and eventually begin to lose their sanity as they are sucked into the dream eating eldritch horror face of Lumpy.

Still working out how to embrace the ridiculous within the span of the newer movies, join Chris, Ben, and Josh as they talk more reasonably about the plot of The Last Jedi.  In more even-toned discussion, the gang speaks on Holdo's plan and Poe's position within it, the rushing of the movies production, terrible deleted scenes, Carrie Fisher being a badass on set, general in-universe takes on the Jedi, the Sith, and the Force, and most importantly, Kylo Ren's age.

Heading into the home stretch of the second rotation, the gang goes on a deep dive regarding the non-main cast and background characters of the saga.  Join Josh, Ben, and Chris as they argue about Ilum as Starkiller Base for an uncomfortable amount of time, talk about the crazy origin and history of Maz Kanata, request an answer for WHAT HAPPENED TO HOOGENZ, accidentally present a Trinto Duaba Disney+ series, and pitch a new episode of Downtime Darth.

Delirium!  A force continually interrupting semi-competent conversations on this podcast.  Tune in as Chris, Ben and Josh discuss introductory viewing order, the incestuous complicity of Ben Kenobi, write some fanfiction, start to notice they're repeating themselves, devolve into the Ewok/Religion debate from last rotation, come close to asserting Ben as a God, and then DESPERATELY try and fail to find the offramp for the podcast.

This episode is absolutely unhinged.  Join Josh, Ben, and Chris as they pitch a duel identity naming system for Yoda, double down on the format of the podcast and beg the audience not to watch along with them, and pitch a Disney+ show involving Darth Vader.

As we enter the Original Trilogy, the groups ability to stay on topic entirely devolves into nothingness.  Join the gang as they discuss the 2007 Rose Bowl Parade, beg people to tell them if Steve is okay, possible Darth Bane castings, the upcoming High Republic spinoffs, rumors that Boba Fett murdered the Skywalker family, and then eventually discussions about the deleted scenes and special features documentary.

It's a week of revelations, conspiracies and heated arguments.  Join Josh, Ben, and Chris as they explore the mindset of the Lars family, uncover those actually behind the brilliance of Order 66, attempt to uncover just how deep Ewan's lightsaber loyalty lies, and finally, listen as Josh is (rightfully) harassed about considering skipping an entirely unrelated, inane, and unneeded special feature.

At the time of recording, a released GQ Article starring John Boyega really began a slippery slope of analysis that would follow Chris, Ben and Josh through the rest of the first rotation sequel watches.  Join the gang as they talk about how very much they love these characters, the weird position of knowing comparing and contrasting old and new canon and similarities and dissimilarities, overdoses of nostalgia, baited marketing, and their collective adoration of the FinnPoe ship.

Now with the weight of the knowledge that people are actually listening to our dumb asses officially settled on our shoulders, Josh, Chris and Ben as they push forward.  Listen as Josh desperately tries to talk about the ethics of presenting the Ewoks with a religious symbol they created with little agreement, Yoda's lack of learning anything from a twenty-two year exile, Ben Kenobi Cheers and perhaps most especially the ramifications of the Saga being the 'Chosen One' Anakin.  Then, listen to them talk a lot about the sequels, for a really long and unnecessary amount of time.

With no directional sails to guide them on their journey, Chris, Ben and Josh attempt to make sense of the fact that droids feel pain, request that someone check Mark Hamill for post-concussion syndrome, and the truly incredible toxic masculinity of Han Solo.  In the final episode they film before the podcast goes live, listen as they wonder if their work will ever actually be seen by the world at large.

Three weeks into the first rotation and any semblance of a proper format is out the window.  Gawk in confusion as Josh, Ben, and Chris only occasionally talk about the movie in complaints about the character and story arc of General Grievous, then go on side tangents about other properties within the franchise that are now almost certainly non-canon.
