This recording and the show notes were originally posted at my previous site and show, AWOP Radio.

As of this posting, in November 2013, Tret is currently touring the country and sharing songs from the album.

Tret Fure joins me to talk about her career in Indie Music. Tret is a Singer/Songwriter, Musician, Professional Sound Engineer, President of Local 1000 North American Traveling Musician’s Union, Author, Clothes Designer, Author, Teacher, Artist and voice talent.

From her Bio at Tret Fure.com Tret Fure’s career spans 4 decades. She began her professional work at the age of 16, singing in coffee houses and campuses in the Midwest, moving to Berkeley where, after performing weekly on the campus of UC Berkeley where she attended college, she discovered that music really was her life. At 19, she moved to LA to pursue a songwriting and musical career. Within a year she was performing as guitarist and vocalist for Spencer Davis, touring with him and penning the single for his album “Mousetrap”. She went on to record her own album in 1973 on MCA/UNI Records, with the late Lowell George of Little Feat as her producer. With the success of that release, she opened for such bands as Yes, Poco, and the J Geils Band.

Read more about her and connect with her via her social network links at Tret Fure.com

Show Links: Her new album is called A Piece of the Sky and you can pick it up on her website or at itunes.

Welcome the very first Indie Media Weekly podcast!

Maurice Macarone Bradford of The DOP Inc Records.com joins me to play some tracks from his new release Propaganda 2 and talk to me about the message behind the music.

As a thank you to all their friends and supporters, Mac and the contributors to the album, Deena Maddox, Hitman, Strat and Loon-E are making Propaganda 2 available free through the first week of November 2013, so get over there quick and pick up your digital download.

Hit some of these links to hear more about Huey P. Newton and Fred Hampton and hear more of the words that inspired much of Propaganda 2.
