A podcast that talks about positiveness in life, and to offer hope for people who have anxiety, anger, relationship issues, sadness, a wide range of mental issues that plague society.
Chef and restaurateur Mark Ellman of Maui sadly passed away, the first rock star chef in Lahaina, Maui. He and wife Judy set up iconic restaurants and recently sold off their remaining 3, as Mark was about to live a retired life full of traveling and being with family and close friends. He died at 67, and not able to experience the life of retirement. Mark inspired many future food service professionals, and was a very disarming person. He was a spiritual brother to myself, and a friend and mentor to many. I will miss Mark for his humbleness as a human being, and a friend that checked up on me when I actually needed it most. After losing my mother in 09, my brother Chef Harold two years later. Mark was one of the first to offer his condolences when Chef Harold died. Mark was a very unique and special person. As he rests in peace, it is our job now, those whose lives he transformed, to carry on with the "Aloha" he preached.
Daily Prayer for those suffering from depression, anxiety, and who might be suicidal. If anyone is suicidal, please get help immediately, if it is an emergency call
9 1 1. If someone has been severely depressed, call 9 8 8, which is the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
The final episode of season 3, talking about happiness, and to eliminate all the negatives in our minds to be at peace. Happiness is an attitude, in the mind, we hold on to thoughts of negativity when we should rid of the negativity, however mentally we can always keep our unhappiness in us and that leads to a pitiful life. When we are not in the moment, in the NOW, we relive our anger at others, or our sadness in mourning from the past, be it recent or years prior. We relive, replay, review horrible experiences for what? Meditation can rid of all the unworthy thoughts, prayers of thanksgiving can rid of those thoughts as well. The teachings of "Being in the moment." is vital towards a peaceful existence. Even simple prayers to give all of your unwanted thoughts, sins, or otherwise to God, and you shall be restored, ancient times had the answers we can all learn. Wisdom brings us peace through understanding that all things are merely of a temporary nature, such as our lives, and death makes life real. The understanding of death should wake anyone up to the fact that hanging on to anything negative can destroy a life, your life, to be a happy person. No one wants the company of a wretch, a saddened human being that brings no joy to a gathering. No one wants a repeater of gloom, anger, or any ambiguous mood to any gathering. You can say that unhappiness for some is a mental hiccup, especially when one repeats the same negative experience when it has been years ago of its happening. The old saying, "Life's too short to be hanging on to unhappiness," is true. Let go of the things that you consider unhappiness because you can.
Discussing the homeless situation in Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, and Nevada. Also the overdoses that has occurred over the past few years. The horrors of meth, opioids, and mixtures that becomes "Speed-balling" The drug crisis seemingly has not end in sight, as major cities and small towns of America face this deadly epidemic, one that is fueled by rising addictions, and the drug lord's thirst for more profits. Ceasing illicit drug running is not in the cards at this present time.
Offering hope and faith, for those in distress, and to be thankful for what we have. Reading from the Book of Proverbs 12. Learning about wisdom, and applying wisdom to our lives. As a believer in Christ, I subscribe to treating people for who they are, and I refuse to be the judge and jury, but to be at peace with people. In today's world we are missing the humanistic elements that is vital for communities to thrive. As for families, we need hope, faith, love and peace more so than ever before.
This episode I talk about teen pregnancies with parents of four different teenage mothers. And the one common denominator is for each teen mom to work hard and finish school, and to learn to provide for their child on their own if need be. All four of the parents reacted in a polarizing manner once the facts were revealed to them, all four parents agreed to help care for their grandchild, with a stipulation that they weren't going to be a hundred percent care provider, and that will be the responsibilities of the mothers. The game plane for all four future moms were to be trained in real life situations with experience of their parents, however it was reiterated that the final decision makers were to be the future mothers.
With irresponsible teen mothers in the community, their children become untamed, irresponsible themselves, possibly entering a life of crime. The percentages of children without direction from a parent or guardian that become malefactors is elevated as experienced in many areas of drug use, and in low income regions of every state in America.
Talking about the mental health situation in Hawaii, the depression caused by inflated home and property prices, and the general cost of living. Stresses from various sources, and the epidemic of drug use and overdoses on opioids, as well as crimes, Hawaii's so-called paradise most often is for those living the high life with no financial worries, as the working class is focused on making ends meet.
Talking about culture in business, as well as personal life. The substance of being humanistic towards others with compassion is rewarding, building relationships that can profit, and move beyond any monetary gain, building important relationships that if cultivated correctly can have great benefits in the future that can be of assistance to human kind. The Hawaiian culture is the model, a standard that is set high, to be one in a group, to help one in need, to not over take in any fashion towards other people, or the land's resources. Understanding is what is needed in the world today. To realize that our minds need to be focused, it needs to remain in good health.
In season 3, episode 34 I get an impression of what Hawaiians at heart are cooking up for Super Bowl 57, and from emails there is an immense menu happening in homes from Hawaii to the North West, and Las Vegas, sharing foods from the cultures of America, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Philippines, Samoa, Hawaii, and other parts of the world. Having a fun time talking about foods and Hawaii's people. Then to the seriousness in dealing with difficult people, from bosses at work to nasty and unreasonable neighbors, and how kindness can possibly bridge opposition. And as always discussing mental health such as depression, and suicide prevention.
Talking about the Super Bowl and betting. How gambling addiction can cause financial ruin within families, stress, depression, anger and other emotions that is detrimental. Loss of wages, and homes can lead to suicide. Teens are also participating in various forms of gambling, parents must be aware of this, as this behavior amongst the young can lead to adult gambling and more perilous outcomes.
From Maui Hawaii, talking about happiness, and life. Discussing living in the moment, and respect for others. And our human nature to protect ourselves and family against possible threats from others. In Hawaii, the culture remains, understanding of the natural resources and how to live in harmony with each other. A podcast that is for the people in Hawaii, of Hawaii all over the world at heart. Transplants from the islands that are rooted elsewhere in the world, as well as visitors to Hawaii that love the islands and the culture, this is to bring them to familiarity via words, and video. Just talking about life of family or ohana, and the need for those with mental health issues to get the help that they deserve. This episode is to help each of us realize what we can be, and that is to be better at life, to find peace and happiness.
In this podcast I talk about us being in the moment, and not thinking about the past near or far, as well as having no thoughts of the future of any length. And to seek what will help us transpire adversity, and negativity, to a peaceful state of mind. I say I short and to the point prayer, using my faith in Christ, I offer listeners to seek and continue to seek a method in which each individual may partake in to save their sanity and to be at an ultimate place of relaxation in their daily lives. This podcast also focuses on depression, and suicide prevention. I hope that anyone who is listening that needs mental health help do seek it, it may save your life.
This podcast talks about addictions of a diverse nature, from mild to severe degrees of drugs and alcohol addictions, to gambling, sexual and other manifestations. A personal account of receiving pain killers such as Demerol in the emergency room, the version of IV that was implemented for my severe pain of gout in both ankles, the experience was no doubt above elation, a sensation at the time was alien to me, it was like a magic potion, the pain suddenly subsided as if I were in another realm of paradise. That experience alone has qualified myself to project that addiction to opioids is a serious matter. I understand 100% how this potion, this pain killer can become something so insatiable to someone that the need for it beyond any severe pain is understandable. Addictions happen because of whatever the content one consumes, it is merely for a so-called high, an escape from reality. Once addictions produces a fictitious lifestyle, their truth, their existence become negligent, producing a slow to rapid decent into obscurity, and even death caused by different serious factors, and worst of all suicide. Addictions of any kind that is negative in one's life needs to be addressed at a juncture well ahead of disaster.
Talking mental health, and reading emails that are humorous from listeners of podcast. The first is about a smart phone shop. The second is about a line cook. The third is about an intelligent janitor, and the last one is about a hard rocking drumming grandma. Sometimes we need to check on the lighter side of life.
In this podcast, I talk about faith in God to heal mental issues. Not everyone subscribes to faith based healing, however there are countless individuals that have found healing in the Scriptures in the Holy Bible. In this episode, I delve in the verses of Proverbs 17, all 28 verses are read. As a Christian myself, I do not force my personal beliefs on to others, and I do respect all people of different beliefs, or non-beliefs. I also state, that if anyone is being tended to for their mental health issues, to continue to follow the professionals instructions on their road to recovery, and that I myself is not trained to offer any advice. So if you are attending any type of prescribed counseling, or taking medication from an expert in medicine, and psychology, please stay the course, ask questions, and state how you are honestly feeling. I hope that anyone suffering from mental illness will get better with proper professional care. Please follow the podcast so I can build a healing tribe that is positive, and can share stories about life for others to hear. When people feel alone, that is the worse feeling one can experience. My podcast is to bridge everyone with mental issues, to seek help from other caring people, as well as professionals in the medical and psychological field.
Talking PTSD, and stories from former Vietnam Veterans that turned to faith in God instead of anti-depressants.
Talking about depression, the 5 Ds of depression, and getting to know one's own self, and to be honest about what is troubling you as a person. To take control of your mind, and prevent other people from dictating your life.
Talking Danica Patrick's Pretty Intense Podcast, and the year 1995 and the Atlanta Braves World Series Championship, and the Houston Rockets NBA Championship, to pro tennis in women's and men's divisions. To the entertainment industries top music on the charts, and the top box office movie Batman Forever. A look at Brave's Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Glavine, and the two big men that ruled the NBA, Hakeem The Dream Olajuwon and Shaquille O'Neal as their battle for NBA Supremacy in 95 with the vacant Air Jordan playing minor league ball, what was billed as two heavy weights inside the paint was memorable for Olajuwon, and for O'Neal unsatisfactory at best. 1995 was a year to be remembered, Bill Clinton sat in office, as the American economy remained ceaseless. 1995 in retrospect was a turning point in sports to some degree. And some icons from that year have gone to another dimension after death. New lives were born in 95, no doubt are the difference makers here in the new 2023. I hope you enjoy the podcast. Download the Spotify App for the video as well.
Podcast talking humanity during Monday Night Football as Buffalo Bill's safety Damar Hamlin was resuscitated, and as of this podcast remains in a Cincinnati hospital in critical condition. The game was postponed rightfully so, as people displayed the utmost in humanity as prayers poured in from all over the world. Also a take on depression and single motherhood. 2 stories from two single mothers as they dealt with raising a child on their own, and their survival in the high cost world of parenting.
The first podcast of 2023, Happy New Year to the listeners and viewers, hope all is well. Today's podcast is a little bit of Danica Patrick, Kwame Brown, Jim Everett vs. Jim Rome, and the top horse racing jockeys. The sports edition is every Sunday, produced to lighten up the attitudes, as the weekday podcasts will be a little more on the serious side of life, and mental health. Danica Patrick was one of the most famous automobile racers in history because she was a woman in a male dominated sport. And a look back at vain talent in the NBA, Kwame Brown, a 7 footer that was a first rounder of the Wizzards, only to have an anemic career 6 points average per game, seemingly a player that was in possession of zero peripheral vision of anything greater than what he put into his career. And a rewind on the Jim Rome interview of Jim Everett back in 1994, when Jim Rome questioned Jim's toughness at quarterback referring to Everett as Chris, as in Chris Evert the female tennis star. Everett attacked Rome on air. And a look at the top jockeys of horse racing. Sports has become entertainment, like it or not, money is made by unique athletes that do well on their stage of performance, or outside their chosen arenas, the media both standard and the new social, is always seeking a story, it defines the human psyche on what people want to feed their minds with.
Podcast talking about suicide prevention, and depression caused by many factors in our stressful world around us. Christmas 2022, recollecting on sports icons of years gone by, such as the Detroit Pistons Bad Boys era. One of my favorite cast of characters led by Isaiah Thomas, along with Bill Laimbeer, Rick Mahorn, Dennis Rodman, Vinny The Microwave Johnson, Joe Dumars and John Salley. This team played ferocious defense like non other. Then a take on WWE superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin, to Olympic Gold medalist boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, who had an iconic professional boxing career as well. As a legitimate legally tagged (senior citizen), this podcaster qualifies for some senior specials, going back to the past is quite a treat, reliving those special sporting events, those stand out athletes who were in their young prime. And now most of them are flying by in their sixties, and seventies. Time is swiftly moving and history in sports is being made everyday it seems. My Sunday podcasts about sports has brought me a lot of fun for nearly a hour an episode, I may rethink my mission. However mental health is as important to myself, to help others seek help when needed. I hope people find my podcast and I hope it can help people forget their problems for a few minutes.
This podcast episode discusses some financial issues, asking questions to let one ponder their financial IQ. And read a DM from a parent of a young lady that developed physically at the age of 13, and was sexually harassed and bullied on social media at a very young age, that continued into her high school years. Now the young lady is in college much matured, and understanding of the realities in this debased world. She seeks psychological counseling when needed, this story amplifies that if one encounters troubling issues, and do not run from it, they will be stronger for it, and possibly be the light and inspiration for others that are or will face the same realities that this young woman faced and will continue to face in the future. If anyone is in depression please talk or call 9 8 8, the suicide prevention and crisis line.
Marriage and bad finances can add stress that can result in utter chaos in a relationship, anger, anxiety, depression, and become causes for addictions such as alcoholism, illicit drugs, pornography and other sexual vices. Learning how to communicate in a relationship can be the most exhausting when resolving important issues such as finances that go awry. Also my take on being geared to face airline travel emergencies, such as an airliner disaster, case in point the Hawaiian Airlines turbulence. On December 18, 2022 a flight from Phoenix to Honolulu experienced severe turbulence that caused dozens of injuries that sent the injured to local hospitals for treatments. And my stance on getting the mental health assistance one may need if thinking of suicide.
Talking about a chance meeting with Dustin May, starting pitcher of the LA Dodgers as he and his woman vacationed on Maui, got a selfie and autograph from one of my favorite Dodger from my favorite baseball team. And how celebrities that visit Maui handle selfies and autograph requests. And discussing CTE and the affects on mental health, from suicides from a few NFL players such as legend Junior Seau of the San Diego Chargers.
Talking about people with various issues that are weighing heavily on their minds during the holiday season. From real estate shares upon the death of a parent, to a child convicted of murder because of drugs, to a woman that felt being made fun of at a party because of being overweight. The podcast on finding peace of mind continues.
Discussing Baker Mayfield's game winning 98 yard drive that beat the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football, as a new member of the Los Angeles Rams, when he had had two days to learn the playbook, it was an incredible mental tough performance. I also talk about the head coaches of the Baldwin High School varsity and junior varsity teams, as both coaches began to charge students for private lessons ranging from 75-1500 dollars. And a rewind to the Super Bowl number 20, the Chicago Bears beat the New England Patriots, however in that game, Walter Payton the best running back in the league for the Bears did not score a touchdown. It was injustice when Walter did not get the chance, but the gimmick, a 300 pound plus defensive lineman went behind center and got a touchdown as a running back. It was entertaining, but for many a football purist, Walter Payton's no touchdown was a disservice to the man and legend.
Talking about finding peace in life, I talk personally that I am a Christian but do not preach to anyone, and that my belief in Christ is a personal journey that helps me in times of stress, and personal mental issues. I talk about other people with personal issues, and give listeners an idea on how to find peace in their surroundings that won't cost any money, just some time alone to think positive thoughts.
Why did the Buffalo Bills of the 1990s go to four Super Bowls, and had never tasted at least one championship victory? A team led by head coach Marv Levy, and quarterback Jim Kelly, and talented cast of offensive and defensive players, a team that had the best regular season records, never could beat the opposition of the NFC. The Buffalo Bills in the eyes of football fans were the winning losers, was this a good or bad moniker? How would you feel being the butt end of jokes amongst peers, in the media, on talk shows. The Bills were a great team that just could not put a W in their games called the Super Bowl.

Discussing the demise of two sports icons in their respective sports leagues. Jose Conseco who played for the Oakland As in the 80s and 90s, in his prime rose to prominence in pro baseball, winning awards, and 2 world series championships, only to spiral downwards with the law. Likewise with Michael Vick, a promising quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL, his bouts with the law, and associating with dubious people, and his financing of a dog fighting ring, sent him into the darkness. The questions we always ask, "How can such talented individuals making millions of dollars participate in questionable, and illegal proceedings that sends them into prison, and bankruptcy?" This episode illustrates both retired professional athlete's sketchy participation in nefarious actions.

And we discuss greed, and how greed has made it difficult for people, as greedy investors have purchased lands, and apartment buildings, and raised the rents preventing everyday people from paying for their housing and shelter. To confidence, what Marcus Mariota, quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons had to work on to get his back, when he was drafted with the Tennessee Titans, and ultimately benched. It took 3 years of hard work and soul searching, and a chance to play for the Atlanta Falcons. He helped win a game against the San Francisco 49ers, throwing for 2 touchdowns and running for 1. He stated that as a pro athlete, confidence is a weapon, once it is gone, there's not much you can do, no matter how talented you are. You just have to grind it out through hard work.

Discussing mental health help, and touching on physicians who work a stressful job, that commit suicide. Our health care professionals have mental problems just like everyone else who are merely human beings. Stressors such as malpractice, and other lawsuits become magnified in some cases, and may cause financial setbacks that leads to depression, which causes the thought process of committing suicide. If not suicide, doctors are at times incapable of performing their jobs on patients at the highest trained level of excellence and professionalism, leaving patients vulnerable to inadequate health care.

Talking about the life of Taylor Hawkins, the fallen drummer/vocalist from the Foo Fighters. He passed away earlier in 2022. On September 03, 2022 in London, England at Wembley Stadium in front of a massive crowd, Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters finally performed once again. Their world tour was canceled due to the untimely death of Hawkins. The concert in England was a tribute to Hawkins with Hawkin's rock icons performing. Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of Eddie Van Halen (who died two years earlier) joined Grohl on stage and played a couple of Van Halen's songs. Wolf blew away the crowd, no doubt he learned to play like his dad Eddie. For him it was a tribute to his late father as well as his good friend Taylor Hawkins. Members from the Police, Queen, Metallica, and many more performed. This concert will live on as one of the greatest rock concerts of all time, because it had so much meaning, where friends paid the ultimate tribute to a fallen fellow musician.
