The Sovereignty of God and The Kingdom of God?
'The sovereignty of God' and 'The Kingdom of God' are terms that each refer to the rule of God in completely different ways. The sovereignty of God refers to God's general and overall rule over all creation in heaven and earth, fallen and holy, good and evil; the kingdon of God in contrast is reference to the experience of the perfect order of God as it is in heaven.
The sovereignity of God does not 'come' and has no begining on earth. In contrast, John the Baptist annouses the arrival of the kingdom of God on earth when he begins to baptise at the Jordan. This primary insight is important in laying the foundation of the discussion in this sermon.
