HIS POINT/HER POINT: OUR FUTURE is a podcast hosted by friends with very different perspectives but with like objectives...to improve the current state of our communities and have real conversations related to issues men and women face in life. Our hosts seek to impart, empower, and improve the lives of its listeners. All topics are relevant to our community some come with laughter and some with tears. All in all, you will find our hosts speak the raw truth on matters that many coat in an effort to find a common ground amongst the sexes.

The “traditional” family structure has become the minority in our communities and around the world. An increasing number of families are now considered “non-traditional” because they are made up of single parent families, blended families, and grand parent families. Many of the single parent families are becoming step-families or blended families. Although faced with challenges, many families embrace the challenges to nurture lasting relationships. Unfortunately, many end in divorce.

The arrival of the first slave ship to America in 1619. Their arrival
inaugurated a barbaric system of Chattel slavery that would last for the next 250 years. The 1619 project is to remember how our ancestors arrived in America and not let America erase the atrocity that the black race suffered upon their captivity.

WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?
DOMESTIC / INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE
Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of coercive and / or violent behavior used in an intimate relationship to establish and maintain control over a partner. It includes emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, or the threat of physical or sexual abuse.
VICTIMS
In this country, a woman is more likely to be assaulted, injured, raped, or killed by an intimate partner than by any other type of assailant. More than 50% of men who batter women also abuse their children. Abusive husbands and lovers harass 74% of employed battered women at work, either in person or over the telephone.
As our culture changes, the dynamic of the family has changed. Single mothers dominate the
population in raising young men of color. How does this dynamic effect how young men of color
develop into their adult male role or does it have any effect? Can Single mothers equip our young men
of color with the tools to be men?
