Hi, this thing is back!!! Sharing some thoughts on how my life has changed as I continue to grieve the loss of my sibling, Mariela.
For Mayel, my sibling.
In this episode, I talk about my journey with ADHD diagnosis and treatment, navigating academia and the cultural knowledge gap, and how structural injustice informs my grief. I am in the final year of my graduate program for social work and have only recently acknowledged that I had been struggling throughout my education. I look back with gratitude and grace to my parents for all they have done while wishing that all of us had equitable access to the same academic and mental health supports that others have had.
Thoughts on some of the things to consider when talking about race. Historical context, power dynamics, subjective experiences, avoiding the reproduction of structural violence/neglect, and emotional regulation. !!!!
Slowly accepting that I'm in a new context this semester. Also general thoughts about my relationship with learning through my education, high hopes for incoming students I'll be working with. Fixed vs. growth mindset. Plus, talking about the importance for students to confront Academia's restrictive, exclusive nature. ESPECIALLY if their identities face structural violence/neglect.
SQUEEZING out just a few thoughts to get back into this! On being a TA this year, the uncertainty, the responsibility, and the excitement!
One of many on ethics at different levels of interactions. An ongoing journey influenced by my personal and professional interactions, my identity and how it is perceived by others, and my dynamic aspirations for a more just world.
Some thoughts on how the world feels eerily similar to a sci-fi novel, musing on my individual impact on climate change and the relative power industry tycoons have, and the development of ethics and interpersonal knowledge throughout my work with young people.
