Lynn Manning - (April 30, 1955 - August 3, 2015) Los Angeles Greatest Playwright who created 19 plays about Los Angeles. He was an American Paralympian, playwright, poet and actor known for his autobiographical work that explores the complexities of life as a blind African-American man.
Lynn Manning's life was turned upside down when he was left blind after being shot in the face in a Hollywood bar in 1978, when he was 23 years old. He made a name for himself as a playwright and actor and is best known for his semi-autobiographical work Weights*, which premiered in Los Angeles in 2001. The play won three NAACP Theatre Awards including Best Actor for Manning.
Let us remember this creative giant as we celebrate his birthday on April 30th.

Channing Von Taylor, born July 11, 1985 and better known by the stage name Von-T, is an American rapper, DJ, singer and songwriter. In January 2019, after premiering the music video for his song "Turn Off The Lights", he became a viral internet meme accumulating over a million views on World Star Hip-Hop due to his many different styles, wearing his custom helmet, and Army discrimination and military background. In 2019, his single titled "ENUFF" feat. Ikkor, became his most successful single to date and is still rapidly spreading across the internet. Von-T produce’s traditional rap music and videos, but also creates colorful animated EDM music & videos and 80’s “retro" Synthwave music. He has the foresight to see that he can successfully be an artist that can effectively blend all genres of music together and to collaborate with all artists to unite the world of music as one.

Louise Thompson Patterson (September 9, 1901 – August 27, 1999) was an American social activist and college professor. Thompson was acquainted with many of the leading literary figures during the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s, spending most of her life involved in civil rights. Thompson Patterson is also known as one of the first black women to be enrolled at the University of California at Berkeley.
William Lorenzo Patterson (August 27, 1891 – March 5, 1980) was an African-American leader in the Communist Party USA and head of the International Labor Defense, a group that offered legal representation to communists, trade unionists, and African Americans in cases involving issues of political or racial persecution.
Langston Hughes (February 1, 1901[1] – May 22, 1967) was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and columnist from Joplin, Missouri. One of the earliest innovators of the literary art form called jazz poetry, Hughes is best known as a leader of the Harlem Renaissance. He famously wrote about the period that "the Negro was in vogue", which was later paraphrased as "when Harlem was in vogue."
