A collection of lore and legends that we discuss while tackling those mounds of laundry that we have all been hiding like skeletons in the closet.
Harry Houdini is best known as the greatest magician and escape artist of all time. But after the death of his mother, Harry began his search into what happens when we die and how to contact the dead. As part of his search, he made a promise to contact the people he trusted most with a secret code to let them know that there is more to life after we die. The question was not whether it could be done, it was if Houdini actually accomplished this impossible task.
There are rumors swirling about an Heiress who would go on to visit a medium upon her husband's death only to be told that she must use her fortune to build a house for spirits and if she were to stop building, this is when she would die. This is the legend of Sarah Winchester, Heiress to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and the home she constructed, The Winchester Mystery House.
Many of great and exciting things came from the 1893 Chicago World's fair.....it also held some not-so-great and unexciting things, like a Murder Castle and an (alleged) serial killer. Some speculate that H. H. Holmes built the "castle" to lure unsuspecting Fair goers to their deaths in order to sell their skeletons to medical schools, others would say that he built it so he could collect insurance money, and some believe it to be nothing but an elaborate tale in order to sell newspapers. Either way, Holmes left quite the legacy and possibly a couple of spirits as well.
What happens when you mix spirits with...well, spirits? You get Beer, Beasts, & Battleships. This is our first sub-cast episode for Lore, Legends, and Laundry, hosted by Sean. On this Halloween Special, We will be getting to the bottom of the legend behind Pabst and their Blue Ribbon, the spirits that haunt the brewery, and also getting to the bottom of our own spirits....if you know what I mean.
