I am a nurse, coach, and writer. My passion is to listen to and amplify meaningful stories that connect, inspire, and encourage those entrusted to care for vulnerable patients and their families.
As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child; and so it takes a village of compassionate and engaged healthcare teams to ensure patients are safe and comfortable.
Podcast episodes include interviews with the often unseen and forgotten 'essential workers', who are the heart and soul of every healthcare organization.
In this episode, I interviewed an old friend and colleague Rosebel. She and I worked together in the NICU many years ago, and now she has discovered her new passion and niche as a NICU Lactation Consultant.
You will love listening to Rosebel's journey and what inspired her to get out of her comfort zone to learn a whole new specialty while continuing to integrate her expertise as a NICU nurse.
Discussing breastfeeding and breastmilk may sound strange and perhaps a bit too obsessive... until you learn the science and benefits, especially to premature babies. It's a WOW!

In this episode, I interviewed my good friend Jaime; we met at a hospital where I worked as a consultant/coach, and we had an instant connection.
Jaime is a passionate story teller and his enthusiasm is contagious. When you first meet him, you can't help but smile and feel as though the load you were carrying somehow magically disappeared after a brief interaction with him.
He is way more than someone who just collects your blood, he is a healer and a comforter for children and their parents.
I can't wait for you to listen to our fun and inspiring discussion. And as a special treat, I want to share Jaime's youtube channel with his AMAZING video clips, showcasing his unusual phlebotomy techniques and more importantly- deeply connecting with his precious little patients.

In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Beth and learning all about a virtually unknown specialty- driving rehabilitation specialist. She has a really interesting story of how she eventually ended up in healthcare; and how her love of connecting with people in a meaningful way transitioned from teaching English to becoming an Occupational Therapist.
You will love listening to her story about how it literally took a village of skilled and passionate healthcare providers to help a young father reach his lofty goal of driving again after a traumatic brain injury.

In my very first micro podcast episode, I share my story about an unpleasant encounter with a few "negative Nancy" co-workers, at a new per diem job. And instead of committing a character assassination... choosing to take a few steps back to assess if my colleagues were actually showing signs of burnout.
This was an opportunity for the coach to coach thyself! :)

In this episode, I interview my friend Stephanie. From the first time we met, I was so impressed with her confidence, kindness, intelligence and composure.
In her role as a Nurse Manager on a busy cardiac unit, she shares her story about her proudest moments with her team during the pandemic.
Most people don't realize the amount of responsibility and pressure that is inherent in this very important and demanding role- one of the hardest jobs in healthcare!
Nurse managers are bombarded from all sides: patients, families, administration, staff and interdisciplinary colleagues. They are also responsible for all of the clinical quality metrics, employee engagement and patient experience outcomes. It is truly never ending.
Thank you to all of the hardworking and underappreciated nurse managers!!

In this episode, I interviewed my good friend Maria. She discussed her journey into healthcare with a fulfilling 40 year career in one organization. She held various roles in different departments and eventually found her niche as an interpreter. In my opinion, I think she is one of the most empathic and compassionate interpreters that I have ever met.
Wait until you hear her unique stories from the frontline and how being an interpreter isn't just about translating English into Spanish. There is an art to interpreting the sentiment of the speaker while taking into account the cultural nuances using colloquial phrases and accurately describing medical terminology.
Maria is one of those special people that you feel honored to know because of her genuine kindness, sincerity and desire to consistently deliver high quality care while working seamlessly with the interdisciplinary team.
