Our guest is the son to the official watch maker to the Imperial Court of Emperor Haile Selassie the first of Ethiopia. A direct descendant of King Solomon and Queen Makeda, if that name doesn't ring a bell, you may know her as the Queen of Sheeba.
Vartkess Knadjian, seems to be naturally attached to history. Vartkess is the CEO of one of if not the oldest diamond company in existence. He has been with Backes and Strauss since 1976 and since then, he is responsible for redirecting this diamond company to become a major player in the international diamond industry.
Backes and Strauss was formed in 1789. Just to give you an idea of how far back they go. In the United States, George Washington was elected as the First President of the United States. Also, the French Revolution began with the fall of Bastille.

Following an Oxford University degree in Italian literature, John departed his native England for Milan in 1999 to pursue his true calling. His work as a consultant and lawyer to well known Italian luxury brands led to a specialism and flair for fine diamonds, culminating in the creation of JF Diamonds, a truly unique and bespoke Italian fine diamond jeweler and loose diamond dealer.
