Welcome to City Point Church. City Point was planted by Pastor Chris Mancl in Stevens Point, Wisconsin in 2017. We are dedicated to Creating Committed Followers of Jesus One Person at a Time. Here you can listen to the weekly weekend messages from City Point Church.
We can experience the presence of God anywhere at any time. We can find these moments by slowing down the hustle of life, focusing our attention on Christ and offering up praise for who He is and what he has done.
The arrival of Jesus is a promise of the Lord, a threat to our own kingdom and calls for a response. When he arrives, Jesus arrives as a King.
The story of Joseph’s reunion with his brothers and his request that the do no quarrel about their past teaches us three things. Learn from you past, listen to your present and look to your future. Hope always lies in God’s future, not in you past.
The sins of Josephs brothers catch up with them, and they realize that what they did to Joseph all those years ago still carries consequences. Pastor Chris reminds us that the fear of the Lord is our opportunity to see the sin in our lives. The voice of the Lord is our warning against the consequences of sin and the conviction of the Lord is our moment to accept repentance of the sin in our lives.
Tom Barg shares with us the mission of Chi Alpha and what God is doing in the lives of young people here in Stevens Point and across Wisconsin. Tom challenges us to remain intentional about how every conversation can lead to Jesus.
We are to be faithful to the Lord in every place because the Lord is faithful to us in every Place. The Lord was with Joseph in slavery, in temptation and in prison. The Lord was faithful with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love.
Pursuing God’s dream for your life will lead you through unexpected moments. Joseph was obedient to his father and betrayed by his brothers. He was sold into to slavery but ultimately, like us, he was bought for a purpose.
Pastor Gayland shares a personal story of loss and God’s sovereignty. Peter and Paul give us a life changing example of prayer in chapter two of the book of Acts. A prayer that can still offer us comfort and direction to us today.
Pastor Chris encourages us to resist the ever-present temptations the Bible warns us of and pursue the blessing of God. It is important to self evaluate, reflect on God’s word and persevere in prayer.
Self examination combined with honest confession positions us to receive and accept grace. We take regular and moral inventory and accept our responsibility for sin. We ask God for repentance and confess our sin to a trusted person. We accept forgiveness.
My first step to freedom is found in my confession. When I realize that I am not God, and admit that I cannot control my tendency to do the wrong thing on my own. Pastor Chris reminds us of the power of confessing our sins one to another.
God cares more about out attitude towards giving than about the amount given. Paul called the church to excel in the grace of giving, and to match their eager desire with their means. We are still called to give what we have determined in our heart, and with joy.
The resurrection of Jesus proves that he can resurrect my life. Pastor Chris speaks about the three questions asked by his followers after Jesus runs again. Who will roll the stone away? Why do you look for the living among the dead. What possibly could have happened? He is risen.
The twelve greatest words were spoken by Jesus on the cross. On the cross Jesus expressed care for others, expressed love for the lost, and expressed grace to sinners. During his suffering Jesus expressed his heart for people.
We are all Accountable to God for how we choose to respond to Jesus. Jesus wept when he saw that some would witness and testify of him and would would reject him shortly after and some would fail to believe who he was. Some of us though, still choose to witness and testify through faith in response to who Christ is.
Pastor Gayland walks through Luke chapter 22 with us. Highlighting the choice that Judas made, and that each of us make when we know who Jesus is. Will we follow Jesus or ally ourselves with evil.
Pastor Chris unpacks Jesus’ words in Luke, chapter 21. We are to watch out, stand firm, stand up, be careful, watch and pray, because no one knows when Jesus is coming back, We do know that Jesus is coming back. Am I ready for Jesus to return? What responsibility do I have until then, and how can I prepare for that moment.
Josh Nelson elaborates on the story of Daniel and the lions that he faced. Each of us face lions in our lives, promoting fear, isolation and discouragement. But we serve the Lion of Judah and the lamb of God. In difficult times we reach for Jesus, reach with faith, reach out to community and the encouragement it brings.
Pastor Dan Leads us through Jesus message about the Roman coin. We are caught between two worlds, but Christ has called us to resist the bait of the world, obey authority and give our allegiance to the eternal kingdom of Christ.
Pastor Gayland reminds us of the five beliefs we can draw from the Parable of the Vineyard in Luke 20. If we believe these things how do our lives reflect them?
Pastor Gayland Reads out of Luke 20, encouraging us to consider the evidence of who Jesus is. Seekers can prayer a simple prayer, “God, if you’re there, and you really exist, show yourself to me.”
The advent of Christ brings Joy. Joy is found in the good news that Jesus is come. We experience joy when we see, hear and experience fellowship with Christ.
Pastor Gayland reminds of a God who loved us enough to be born on earth with us, and the magi from afar who fell in love with a baby they didn’t know. They travelled to worship him and honor him with royal gifts.
Pastor Gayland walks us through the story of Jesus throwing the Booths of Anise out of his temple (Luke 19, Mark 11, John 2). Because of the political, economical and ethical complications of the temple, Jesus spoke out against a corrupt religious authority, bringing his people back to the simplicity of the Shema (Deuteronomy 6-9:). Jesus is still calling us to make God number one, with unadulterated prayer, teaching of the bible and worship. Waiting for us to courageously kick out anything else that has become to important.
Pastor Gayland remind us to practically live out who God created us to be. He created us to enjoy his grace and extend his glory.
We live with authentic character when we are honest with God from our hearts about who we are created to be. Authentic character grows in us when we practice honest confession, perseverance through suffering and transformational grace.
Followers of Jesus follow the holy spirit’s leading in every area of their lives. Embracing transformation, the leading of the spirit and the empowerment of the holy spirit.
Pastor Chris encourages us to follow Jesus’ example and be selfless. We follow the example of Jesus by humbling ourselves and serving others.
The kingdom of God is something that is present and coming to all people through Jesus. The return of Jesus will be a day of Judgement, separation and justice. Every day until then is an act of mercy, and a day of salvation.
Pastor Chris reminds us to approach God as our father. To ask dad for what we need and knock on his door freely and often.
The heart of the gospel is God reconciling the sinner to himself through His son Jesus.
The heart of the gospel is God reconciling the sinner to himself through His son Jesus.
Pastor Chris unpacks Luke chapter 13 and how Jesus describes the kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God grows upward, outward and through us, so that we my enter the narrow door that Jesus provides.
Pastor Chris reminds us that Jesus is greater than our storms. Marks account of Jesus calming the storm on Galilee instructs us how to to recognize that life is full of storms, and storms can bring fear. Thank God Jesus brings calm in the midst of the storms.
Your engagement in spiritual conversation can become the catalyst for the miracle someone has been praying for.
Pastor Chris gives us an overview of Jesus calling his disciples and how he called them to join his dream team. Dream teams are inspired by vision, have a common purpose, capitalize on the gifts of everyone, and work together.
Pastor Chris brings it back to why we do what we do. Not just what we do as a church, or how our church does that, but why. Why? Because people need Jesus! The greatest need in every person is to have a saving, life giving, relationship with Jesus.
This morning we discuss the topic of hearing the voice of God during our 21 days of prayer and fasting.
Pastor Chris speaks about fasting, and how it deepens our hunger for God. Our hunger for God makes a way for God to work in our lives.
Pastor Chris tells the story of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary demonstrates a humble, available, and responsive heart to the call of God.
Pastor Chris retells the story of Joseph. Joseph displayed compassionate righteousness, sensitivity to the voice of the Lord, and he obeyed God no matter water. Obedience to God comes from a deep, abiding love for God.
Pastor Chris continues through Luke, and reminds us that discipleship requires a commitment to real growth in our lives.
Jesus has an uncomfortable encounter with the Pharisees about authentic versus inauthentic faith. The only way to stand spiritually clean before God is through authentic faith Jesus Christ.
Pastor Chris reminds us of the time Jesus changed the subject, and brought up a introspective topic. We are meant to be a house of God. An empty house is doomed to destruction, but a response to the gospel invites a resident into the house. True fulfillment in our lives comes as we follow Jesus, hear his word and obey him.
This morning we look at Luke 11 where Jesus is accused of casting out demons by the power of demons.
