Take a mini vacation from the to-do list, bills, and work. The perfect Amount of Whimsy was designed as a vitamin of sorts. It’s a short and sweet boost of Vitamin Play, Vitamin Joy, and Vitamin Wonder.
What does one do when they are at the cross roads between a cute lil flirt and the rest of their day? I don't know about y'all, but I turn into a nervous flubbering mess (Ha!) Let's get into the vulnerability of being a fierce, single, black woman in NYC, who loves Jesus, and is a brilliantly great catch. Woop woop! Let's get it.
“Since we are now joined to Christ, we have been given the treasures of redemption by his blood—the total cancellation of our sins—all because of the cascading riches of his grace.” Ephesians 1:7 TPT
This year we will be exploring the treasures of redemption (Ephesians 1:7) that we have as joint heirs with Christ. The Petite Retreat has gone by many names including the "Dream Planning Party'' by Horacio Printing and the "Golden Sisterhood Party." In the evolution of this quality time, it has become a respite from our day to day. Taking the complication out of retreating and rejuvenating. What does it look like to retreat in the middle of our busy city for a portion of our day. How do we make any space we gather in Jesus' name sacred and holy ground? Let's explore together.
I was watching a Christmas movie and the main character was explaining the meaning of Christmas to someone. She said nothing about Jesus. I was baffled! Let's get into it.
It is an honor to welcome the brilliant and beautiful Zaiyah River to the Perfect Amount of Whimsy! She has a new book "The Moon Loves Glitter" available on Amazon books. You can find her on Instagram @ZaiyahRiver_TheAuthor. If you need some joy and confirmation that the next generation is stepping up to the plate in beautiful ways, do yourself a favor and tune in!
My home state, the place where I've been loved the biggest and some of my most cherished memories. Remember that as we see all of the news and coverage of Florida, many of us have family, friends, and loved ones who live in the state. While working to see change, we, as believers in Christ, are called to speak life and hope into those who call Florida home. The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. The Earth. The whole thing. We are praying for God's Kingdom to come and his will being done on Earth as in Heaven.
I decided not to include intro music in this episode. Sometime's our whimsy has to cut straight to the chase.
This is a miracle. If you are looking to take a big risk or if God is calling you to take a humongous step of faith this episode is for you, boosky. I've had the immense honor of making New York home over the last ten years. I am not the same woman I was 10 years ago. I am wiser, funnier, kinder, grittier, and all of the positive "ers" because of this risk.
Forgiveness. We have all needed it and have been tempted to withhold it. Have you ever thought "what's the big deal?" How does displaying forgiveness impact our joy? As Jesus followers are called to forgive everyone... for everything? Chiiiiiile... let's get into it.
Tune in to hear a little on our hostess' testimony on finding Jesus as a teenager. Whether you have been walking with Jesus for decades, day's, or never we are sure there are some laughs and incite that can inspire the best parts of you to come out and shine. Enjoy ;-D
The birthday blues have infiltrated Jazmine's love of celebrating over the last few years. This year God showed out in the joy and celebration departments. Healthy joy looks like carving out space to heed Holy Spirit's promptings. This year was a game changer.
What does it look like to forget the past as we fasten our hearts to the future? Join us as we chat and pray about what this means and can look like for us. Philippians 3:13 Says "I don't depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead."
Join us at the kitchen table for a conversation about my grandparents journey through 54 years of love and marriage. We laughed, as we always do, and I got to learn a few nuggets I hadn't heard them share before. Observing their love behind closed doors has taught me that love, the ups and downs of it all doesn't have to be as down as I've seen many people endure... including myself, chile. Their transparency is healing. Grab a seat and join us for a heart to heart.
My grandmother also mentions her heart for people who have and are enduring abusive relationships. If you or someone you know is, you can contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or text START to 88788. <3
Happy Valentines Day and Black History Month! ISSA LIVE EPISODE! Join your Whimsical friend, Jazmine, and her besties as they talk about the beautiful and genuine friendships.

What is your relationship with time? You know the age old proverb "Ain't nobody got time for that." Is it really true? Is it that you don't have the time or you don't WANT to have the time?
Gratitude and some dream exploration! Inspired by the Queen Mama O, Ms. Oprah Winfrey we are talking about what happens when you have a dream, it is deferred, and you begin to no longer want. Do we have to hold on to a dream if it was once a thing? Can we give ourselves permission to change our minds?
PAOW Turns one today (January 1,2023)!!!! There is so much to be grateful for. Thank you for investing time into our little corner of the world. 🤍
Hey! It has been longer than anticipated and we wanted to come on and check in with you. You'll hear a little with how our host, Jazmine, is doing and a little on what to expect as we close out 2022. xo
"Well hello there!" Tabitha Brown is a beacon of light and the Joy of the Lord. Jazmine had the honor of meeting her for her "Cooking From the Spirit" Book signing and it was pure delight. You'll want to add Auntie Tab to your list of inspiring humans, if you haven't already! Come one in the room and give it a good listen.
Jon Batiste exudes our kind joy! Inspired by Jon Batiste's American Symphony that premiered on September 23, 2022 at Carnegie Hall, we explore his musical genius and the cultural gift he is to us all. If you want to add more to your catalog of whimsy, tune in.
Our joyful friend Jazmine shares how God has been inspiring her (again) to continue walking in the fullness of who she is. You may also hear a funny story about an expensive steak that cost her more than her groceries.
How do you know when you're in a good place? Is it when you can go a month without a migraine or when you find yourself smiling at the simple beauties of life? Join us as we talk about checking in with ourselves and dive into some of Maya Angelou's wisdom on Joy.
On this episode we talk about my 9 year anniversary of living NYC. All of it's quirks and qualms. The beautiful and the ugly. The ease and the struggle. Whimsy isn't for those with a perfect life (or a perfect seeming life), it's for those of us that experience the ebbs and flows of joy and grief, triumph and tragedy.
Happy Juneteenth 2022! We are exploring an article published by the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Our hostess may or may not shed some tears out of an abundance of Juneteenth joy! Enjoy!

Jazmine transitions from her 33rd circle around the sun into her 34th with a reflection of some what this past year has had to offer. Practicing mindfulness did not look like what she imagined, but the results are beautiful. If you need some inspiration and push to celebrate yourself, this will be a treat. =)
The point of Perfect Amount of Whimsy is to spark and share my joy with you. My mommy has graced us with her presence and she showers joy, fullness, and unconditional love like Niagra Falls. No Lie. In honor of her, I have carved out space for her to share her wisdom and experience as a mother. I hope that you're inspired and that this Mothers Day Treat will bless you.
Our host makes a confession and we have a feeling you will be able to relate. If you are on a journey (or know someone who is journeying th) through navigating the myth of perfection, this is for you. We hope this little dose of joy gives you the boost you need today (or tonight).
Jazmine challenges listeners to find happiness in the little things in order to enjoy our hearts desires when they do arrive.
Happiest of Black History Months, Y'all! In this episode we talk about the value of owning our seasons and moments of joy out loud.
