Hello! Thank you for joining me. My name is Alan. I started this podcast with my good friend Caleb. We aptly named our humble little podcast " Life with Caleb and Alan".
On our podcast we discuss the weekly happenings in our lives, the struggles, the joy and everything else, as we come together weekly from across opposite ends of the globe.
We also love to discuss the big questions including the meaning of everything, life, death, love and pain. We also love to chat about politics, media, space, technology, conspiracy and fact. We aren't experts on any of these topics but that does not stop
A deep dive into our favourite movies, we go into a bit of detail with our top five all-time movies and why we like them.
This podcast was recorded before 2023, in the episode, we explore thoughts from our guest Liam on what he thoughts are on specific topics we've covered before such as AI
If you haven't heard yet this week, there was a new tool launched by OpenAI called, ChatGPT, this machine learning database could be the future in terms of replacing Google, although it would unlikely replace Google capabilities with real-time data, as it is not connected to the internet.
This tool could revolutionise many things, and could also replace many jobs, while at the same time creating new ones. For example, I could have used it to write this episode's description, saving me time and effort, but as you will hear our debates on this as to what we both think about the tool.
After four months of hard work and preparation, Alan has finally arrived in Mexico City, to start a new life.
In this episode, we catch up about Alan's new life there, what's been happening in the old CCP with protests erupting, and will the war in Ukraine finally come to an end.
With only two weeks to go from moving to Mexico, we talk about some plans that Alan has when he arrives.
From discussing interstellar to Batman, we look at how the two cinematic universes are doing and the superheroes we think are the best, in our opinion.
With Elon Musk officially buying Twitter, we are curious as to what he's going to do next with it, rumours are, he's going to incorporate it into a new app called x.com.
In this week's news, we chat more about what is going on all over the world, the stampede in Korea, and some missiles being fired over from North Korea to South Korea.
With the release of Jeffery Dahmer on Netflix, we talk about how big corporations are cashing in, whether it's Netflix, Ebay or Amazon. Will this be a trend in the upcoming years, as we see more and more of these kinds of shows being released, and how will this impact the people watching it?
Towards the end we share some great news, with Alan obtaining his Mexican visa, and Caleb's brothers starting their own business, revolutionising the construction industry in New Zealand.
Finally, we get Caleb back this week!!
In this week of the podcast, we address some issues with Alan and his last episode with Andrew.
We also talk about recent news, especially to do with Thailand's most recent shocking tragic event, and how Caleb, as a father sees it.
Our conversation then expands to what the best way is to help troubled youth, so they do not look at joining gangs as a path in their development phase.
This week we do things slightly different, with Caleb being away and busy with work, we have Andrew back on as a guest host.
We recap what I and Caleb spoke about in the last episode and unpack things a bit further from Andrew's perspective.
From there we connect it back to our views of the world on how this is still the best time to be alive, despite the chaos that is all around us.

With tensions rising even more in Russia, and the decline of the US, as well as China. Where is our world heading next? Who is going to be the next superpower, is it going to be India with its giant tech, automotive, and agriculture industry, or will it be Africa?
This week we explore these topics and how one country annexes the other by force, as well as the tactics that they use.
This week was a discussion on how the world will become entirely virtual, even if you do want to avoid it, you probably can't. As we start to see that web 3.0 is becoming more and more mainstream, everyday Joe will be rewarded for just participating in the future of the internet.
We start off our show today with a quote from Andrew Schultz, from Flagrant 2. He believes that the future of our entertainment will be predominantly YouTube.
Our conversation today is centered around what we think about this quote from him, and how Caleb would love to start a multi-media YouTube Media company in the areas where he has passion.
The big debate on which platform is worse for our society these days is the data gathering app TikTok or is it the addictive platform Instagram.
In a world right now where we are heavily influenced by social media, what do you think is worse for our relationships, mental health, and society at large?
What happened that last two months?
The podcast took a break as Alan and Caleb weren't able to connect during Alan's time in Houston. In this episode we discuss some new goals that Alan has and where he is heading, we also discuss how immigration is affecting countries like Japan and Canada.
The recent development of covid lockdowns in China brings up the question of whether or not one should have the right to defend themselves and their rights. It is a tricky topic to discuss, on one hand, you have countries like Japan, which do really well with strict gun regulations, but on the other is the United States, where gun laws need to be discussed and regulated more.
We discuss the issues surrounding the topic, and why it works for some areas and not others.
This discussion leads to more conversations about life in Japan and the things that Caleb misses the most about New Zealand, and whether or not he should do a trade with his friend, a box of potato chips for a box of Boss coffee.
We seem to be big fans of Elon Musk, this is the second week in a row that we have talked about him and his goal to make free speech available for all, and not have social media companies, like Twitter, calling the shots.
Can he save us with his ambitions to purchase twitter, and can his robot AI save us from ourselves?
We have the advancement of tech propelled exponentially in the past few decades, it has lifted many out of poverty, and given us more free time on our hands to do whatever we want with it.
But with this advancement, we also see a decline in birth rates and married couples. The increase of single young men has risen over the past few years, especially in parts of Asia, such as Japan and Korea.
This is alarming and if something is done soon about this crisis, the population will decline and making it even harder on society, such as labor shortages, which would lead to the cost of goods increasing.
If you ever wondered what it would be like spending 40 million a yea looks like, look no further than Mr Bezos's yearly maintenance cost on his super yacht.
Wouldn't we all like a bit of that pocket money to spend? But to be fair, even if we did redistribute that wealth globally, it'll probably go back to the same people pockets.
We know that for a fact, cause we spend too much money on whiskey, especially Alan, not to mention the amount of DUIs he's gotten away with.
Please don't drink and drive like he did.
At the time of recording this episode, the war in Ukraine had been going on for 14days.
We discuss things that are happening and the news we've seen, we discuss leadership and modern-day feminism in regards to the topic of war.
We also ask the question of whether or not more female leadership around the world, specifically presidents, would have made a difference to the current state that we are in.
What's the difference between what Mr Beast does, and what the other people do online, where they pretend to be poor or not have anything, and ask for money from people who are really poor? Or in the case of a couple where they got money from a a homeless person, the goes home to raise money for the homeless person on Go Fund Me, that turned out to be a fraud?
We get in to a discussion on what we think is ethical, and what is just gaining clout.
We all love asking this question 'What would you do if you could go back or forward in time?'.
Well, this week we share with you where we'd go and why.
We start the conversation off around weddings, and revisit Caleb's wedding and why Alan wasn't invited.
We discuss Alan's new job that he successfully obtained after a failed application with another employer, this new job has him excited about what's next and the things he'll be learning.
And what better way to start the new year with the same old UFO discussion.
What would you do if you get to be the president of the earth?
We explore ideas such as making education available for all, financial literacy, and the need for both mums and dads to ensure a better outcome for future generations.
From a TED conversation, we get into the world of conspiracy theories, specifically the JFK assassination.
And Alan, finally gets the last update on the job, though not the results he was hoping for, he's got other plans to move forward.
Where is home for you? It's definitely a complicated question for Alan to answer, as he breaks down his journey so far.
Should we get into hybrid cars as petrol prices all over the world are on the rise?
And this week we find out what it was really like living in Japan for a month with Alan.

In this weeks episode, we talk about how Alan got scammed at work, and how embarrassing it was, and other moments in life both Caleb and Alan felt embarrassed.
