As the CC Family prepares for Folk Magic Festival 2016, our excitement is growing for giving direct and in-person sound advice and training in techniques for doing conjure and witchery that meets its mark. Traditionally, this kind of wisdom must be passed on in person and it will at FMF. Tonight, the CC family show tonight will give firm grounding for solid magic for beginners and seasoned workers alike. There are few tools in conjure and witchery that is as celebrated for its power across traditions, cultures and practices....more than the egg. It is used for cleansing, fertility work, offerings, containment work, and event romantic relationships. Historically, the world of Witches (especially Pagan ones) and Workers (who are almost exclusively Christian) has been metaphorically miles apart. But, the needs of those persons we serve and a changing social environment of inclusion has prompted change and the Conjure Crossroads family feels that this has been directed by spirit inspired by the needs of so many people. After all, isn't the Craft of the Witch and the Workings of the Worker designed to help people achieve better success and well being in their lives. During this show, CC will discuss the "old days of Conjure" before the internet, the differences and commonalities in the two magical practices, the role of witches and workers in a changing world and how the Folk Magic Festival upholds this.

Reversal work is a core practice in conjure. But, sadly it is over misunderstood as revenge or attack work, which is inaccurate. In fact, to make reversal work revengeful is to completely miss the point of this powerful and useful work. It IS about owning your power and keeping clean of other people's ill wishes or harmful influences. In this show, the CC family will discuss what reversal work is and is not and when it is warranted. Our health should be top priority in everything we do. Our spiritual and magical work is no exception to this recommendation. But, interestingly, few people talk about how they set lights, work the root, pray or otherwise pull power to uphold health. Most discussions are about love, money, justice, protection and other worthy worldly pursuits. But, the enjoyment of success in these areas can be thwarted or minimized if we don't feel well. With all the information available on techniques and tools for conjure and root-work; it can be hard to discern what is absolutely necessary and practical for basic good life-supportive work. What are the "must-have" items that support the basic needs of a worker and their work? What are items and works that you should and could take on the road with you if you are a traveling worker? In this show the Conjure Crossroad Conjurers will share with you their insights on what, from their experiences, they would advise you to have in your core kit. We invite callers to call in their questions and their "most-used" tools and techniques too. After all, if Conjure can't help you meet your simple needs, why work it? If Conjure isn't practical, why do it?
The use of dolls and wax images is powerful aspect of conjure and hoodoo practices. Whether it be for housing spirits, healing the afflicted or harming and oppressor; these tools are invaluable to the worker. In this show, the Conjure-Crossroads family will share their knowledge of how these work, recipes for potent image working and practical ways to work a dollie to get results!
Why does Conjure Crossroads do these Blog Talk shows and their two annual education and community events including Conjure-Con? Well, the answer is simple. Because we are committed to promoting and healing and helping benefits of conjure and root-work. We do this by providing forums for accessing sound information and practices from workers who are seasoned, competent and ethical. In this show, we will talk about some of the core skills that an effective worker will want to develop, These skills are a life-long learning process. An aspect of this conversation will include how to use the knowledge gained in events and books focused on knowledge such as, but not exclusive, to those provided by Conjure Crossroads and its partners. This discussion should prove useful for the new and seasoned worker alike!
Before a worker can make their magic, they should move into a state of mind where they feel the power of spirit, engage the forces of the spirit and KNOW that their conjure will work. This a basic practice but one too often overlooked that compromises the workers success. There are many ways to do this such as singing, praying, chanting, calling, "quaking" or rocking, reading and reciting powerful and sacred text from the Bible and other "words of God". When the conjure comes...the worker knows it and feels it. In this show, the Conjure Crossroads family will share some of their insights on "entering the conjure-Zone" and how to feel when you are there and ready to get down to some serious work!
There are many ways that the potent power of the spirit enters into our world, and water is a major one! If you don't believe us, then see how well your life works without it. The use of water and waters in root-work is an-age old and often overlooked practice. We can pull this power to us and our work through the use of natural waters from springs, rivers, the ocean, swamps or a stagnant pool to name a few sources. They all have power and work in different ways. The conjure-power changes based on whether it is setting-still, moving, salt or fresh and it is a reservoir to be taped. Being a truly effective conjure-worker is an ongoing process of increasing knowledge and skills. Bottom line, the moment we think we know enough we have started to get stupid. In the old days, books on conjure were less available, reading skills were often less developed and living conjure-traditions were more accessible. So, the use of a conjure-library was perhaps less reachable and useful. But today’s world is changing rapidly, client issues are often more complex, and information (though not always accurate) is more available. Our conjure-power is its strongest when we are standing with the spirits at the threshold of seen and unseen; manifest and non-manifest; embodied and not or disembodied. This state has many names such as “rapture”, “edge-walking”, “spirit-walking”, and the more popular term “trance”. This state can bring us right to the edge of creative power, streams of wisdom and knowledge and contact with our companion spirits at the threshold of their world and ours. When we enter our sleep-time, it is often a time when our awareness shifts into a place of spirit that is beyond time and space. Our inner-spirit can then move along the pathways of subtle life where it touches events, people, spirits and streams of wisdom and guidance. Yet, this reservoir of spirit-work often gets neglected beyond use for precognition or what in Conjure is often called “dreaming-true”. In this show we will talk about how we can use the dream-time to walk the threads of the spirit-web and talk to spirits, be they human or other.
