There's a huge problem with having #YouTube videos on your website. At the end of the video you get a load of suggested videos to watch, they could be related to your search or watch history, they could be videos of a competitor, they're there to get the viewer off your website and onto YouTube. So what are the options?
Keep using YouTube - if the video is optimised properly, it will help your video and website on Google.
Pay to use an external video player - This way you get total control of the video, from player colour, to call to action. But you will probably have to pay.

At the back end of 2020 I spoke to Ed Purnell about putting a show together for Expense Reduction Analysts. The idea was to show potential franchisees and people thinking about running their own consultancy that they'd be better off talking to Ed and ERA.
We started off with one series in late 2020 and another in mid 2021. Then Ed started his own podcast 'The Franchised'.
In this conversation we discuss what it's been like to produce a show, how to repurpose all the content you get and what that's meant for the business as a whole. If you're considering making video for your business, maybe a show is the place to start.
To find out more about the series I'm putting together head over to http://www.redbookproductions.co.uk/franchising-videos my new video series all about the different types of videos that franchises need.

With Christmas just over a week away I found myself thinking 'Do I need to buy any cool new camera gear?'. I just bought the new GoPro, do I need anything else? And do we all need the best and most expensive equipment to make the best videos? I talk through your buying decisions when it comes to purchasing new equipment. Enjoy!

In this week's podcast I delve behind the scenes in the creation of a new show with my friends at Coconut. We've wanted to create a long running show for a while, and after a year of trying to get it off the ground we finally launched our first episode. I'm so excited to see where it goes and how it helps build Coconut as a brand. It's going to be great!

Over the past 6 months I lost my focus on what I wanted my videos to be, and what I wanted them to do. I had no video strategy, partly because I was 'too busy' to implement one. Having a clear strategy on what you want your videos to do is hugely important. Don't just make videos for the sake of it, know who you want to see your videos and what you want them to do and more importantly 'feel' after watching.

I've made a number of short 2 minute films over the past few years, but this year we really wanted to stretch ourselves and see how far we could push it. So far we've casted the film, and are now about to storyboard and sort out props and locations. It's exciting, but we're already learning a lot.
I want to keep you posted on how the film is doing every few weeks just to chronicle how a short film is made, the problems and solutions.

This is my 3rd or 4th attempt in making a Video Show Podcast, this has GOT to be the time it works right? I'm hoping to use The Video Show Podcast as a platform to go into more detail on the videos I've been making, to share with you some of the results we've been getting with various videos on various platforms, and also discuss my upcoming short film that we're planning to shoot in February 2022.
In this episode I discuss my plans for the podcast, my failures with live video over the past year and how I plan to get everything back on track.
