The end of the year provides a great opportunity to evaluate the dreams you achieved and didn't achieve during the year. Hopefully, you created records of your dreams either in a to-do list, a journal, social media, or other methods.
First take the time to recognize and celebrate your accomplishments to BE More, SEE More, DO More, HAVE More, and GIVE More. Rejoice not only at the total successes, but at the improvement you made in trying to let those dreams work. Focus first on the positive.
Second, look at the challenges you encountered in your dreams. Don't focus on the failures. Focus on what you learned about that dream. Highlight the good that cam from your attempt. Decide which dreams you will not pursue and set them aside. Learn from the mistakes you made and optimize your connections and act consistently to try to avoid making them again. Do not allow examining what you learned to drag you into feelings of failure.

A long-standing disagreement occurs near the end of each year about when to start celebrating which holiday: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, Diwali, and New Years. This episode proposes that the answer to the questions requires an examination of what you celebrate. If buying things and flashy decorations provide the essence and focus of your holiday, then perhaps delaying that materialistic approach provides more peace and serenity.
If, however, the essence of your celebration acknowledges the gift of God in the form of His only begotten son (Christmas), the miracle of light to rededicate the temple and our lives to God (Hanukah), or the victory of light over darkness (Diwali); then it's never too early to remember and celebrate those. In fact, when viewed in this light, we see that Thanksgiving is not a separate spirit, but the perfect way to prepare for these celebrations.

This Thanksgiving episode highlights the legitimate need for housing for a growing population of the United States and the world. I recognize historically there were people who chafed at settling down, such as mountain men and hobos. I also recognize that many remain homeless due to mental illness.
But many families find themselves priced out of the housing market. They may be working 3 part-time jobs because they can't get a full-time job. For several reasons people become homeless through little fault of their own.
All people can do something to help in your home town, country, or internationally. Organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Community Action Programs, or Choice Humanitarian will accept your donations whether they be financial, labor, skill, or just showing up. This episode shares stories of people who GAVE More in a variety of ways to bless a variety of people.

I advocate that unemployed people seeking a new job Make Their 10s. That means they contact 10 people a day and schedule 10 meetings a week. The "job seeker identity" many have will make them gasp at that concept. These people can't imagine finding 10 advertised jobs a day. People thinking like a professional recognize that they typically talk to 10 people on the job.
Many struggle with identifying 50 people, which inhibits them from contacting 50 people. This episode outlines a four step process to identify 50 people and schedule the contacts in just two hours (preferably Monday morning).

The things we love to do, do well, and do repeatedly become themes. Each of us possess 3-5 themes in our lives. No one possesses all the themes, though many frequently wish they did. In addition, we typically apply each theme in several different circumstances of applications. For example, creative people tend to be creative in multiple ways: vocal music, instrumental music, and drama. Typical themes include:
Your themes help you both find scholarships and prove to sponsors and committees that you deserve their money. As a result, identifying your 3-5 themes and their subsets becomes important to you.

Every one of us will make mistakes as we pursue our dreams. We should not let mistakes derail or discourage us. However, we should strive to make our mistakes where they don't count.
Sadly, too many people attempt to achieve their big dreams before they worked out the mistakes and kinks that follow all new ventures. This episode describes several situations in which people make mistakes with crucial connections--and provides strategies to make your mistakes where they don't count.

This episode shares thought I pondered as we visited Boston Square, the graves of John Hancock and Samuel Adams, and the site of the Boston Massacre. Rather than telling the story of our trip, I offer insights into the bravery and trials of the men and women who wrestled for liberty and freedom from what they perceived as oppression.
They discovered ways to bring differing perspectives, cultures, and visions together--not perfectly. Their treatment of indigenous peoples and people kidnapped into slavery exemplify huge travesties to the freedoms they proclaimed. Nevertheless, they transformed themselves into a new nation, a new way of thinking, and a new method of government by incorporating the strengths of their various perspectives into a new nation.

Watching the Disneyland 100th anniversary fireworks show reminded me how much Walt Disney encouraged us to dream. This episode highlights some of the themes that persisted throughout 100 years of animated feature films.
The lyrics of his films, beginning with Snow White's "I'm Wishing" to Moana's desire follow the wind at her back to see how large the ocean is emphasize our ability to accomplish amazing things if we will dream (which "is the wish our heart makes). The show also reminded me how every character has to overcome limitations, doubt, and despair. They also had to connect with others to achieve their dreams.

This podcast expands on how the "How Can I Help?" attitude is taught by Bryan Waldon Pope as part of his VEVA approach, by the National Speakers Association for professional speakers to land speaking engagements, and by successful fund-raisers to "be invited" by donors to allow them to give them money.
I hope that you will listen and tap into the power of "How Can I Help?" to let your dreams work and GIVE More to help others achieve their dreams.

Recently, I addressed an amazing group of women the majority of whom were in their late 60s to early 90s. They reinforced in my mind that while age may modify our dreams, it does not need to kill them. Too many people feel incapable of dreaming in the later years. While real limitations due to age, health, mobility, and other factors require us to modify our dreams we can lable and deal with them.
This episode explores how different people, especially my mother, adapted their dreams as the got older, but still accomplished so much and enjoyed their lives for the richness they add through their dreams.

"I Can't Dream" remains the most common and pervasive limitation people face as they start to let their dreams work. This undesired limitation challenges us because it straddles the gap between a real limitation (which responds to plans) and a windmill (false limitation appearing real, that doesn't respond to plans).
As with most windmills the seeds of this pernicious limitation plant in our past and bear fruit in our present and future. This podcast

Without some limitations your dreams can spiral out of control, impossible to achieve because they are too broad. You, therefore, label some desired limitations to assure success and provide boundaries for your vision. Project management refers to these desired limitations as the "scope of the project."
This episode defines some scope limitations for specific dreams shared by members of our 12,000 Dreams community. They illustrate for all those who dream with us how to label desired limitations for any kind of dream. We will discuss specifically defining the scope for those who dream of creating a charitable, non-government organization; and those who dream of a new job--their dream job. Once again, the process shared in this episode may apply to all you who wish to let your dreams work.

In an earlier podcast (episode 64) Bryan Waldon Pope and Larry Stevenson announced their dream to guide 12,000 people to achieve their impossible dream--that dream that, from where they stand today, seems unattainable.
In that podcast we invited people to have a conversation with us to outline their dreams, but more importantly to help us discover the best possible support they wanted to help their dreams come true. Our audience response thrilled us both with the many dreams people wanted to achieve, but also for their input on what would help them succeed. This episode shares the results of our conversations and just a few ideas people gave us on what they wanted from this collaborative effort.

Once again Barbara Sher highlights a common windmill (false limitation appearing real). Every person eventually encounters a situation where, through no or little fault of their own, the world seems to collapse around them. They have their dream job and the company gets sold to someone else who chooses not to keep the old staff. Your happily ever after marriage crashes on a spouse's abuse or addictions. These things happen in our lives. They devastate us, leaving us broken, bereft, and many times bitter with no prospect for hope in sight.
This episode shares several methods for handling this common windmill from both Ms. Sher's experiences, but also Larry Stevenson's. Learn some techniques for handling those feelings of despair and devastation. Learn a technique for handling the sincere, but disastrous attempt to raise our spirits by saying "Oh, just cheer up. Things will get better."

Synergize Purposefully, the 5th step in our life-changing framework, may contribute the most to actual success with your dreams. The synergy that flows from 2 or more people working together, supporting one another, and collaborating with ideas and suggestions almost assures that your dreams work.

The December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor Naval base delt a devastating blow to the United States of America. The majority of our Pacific fleet lay in shambles. Americans, especially in California, lived with the vulnerable realization the war could come to them any day. The tide of war in the Pacific and Europe seemed destined to destroy democracy and liberty.
Yet, we rebounded. The actions and determination of people in the armed services, creating the industrial output for war, and the sacrifice of those still at home in rationing and war drives turned the failure of that devastating attack into meaningful momentum that won the war.
This episode highlights how acting consistently can turn failure in to success, despair into hope, and assure that your dreams come true.

Many people find themselves moving quickly on the job, in relationships, purchases, or other dreams only to realize that they are moving quickly--on the wrong track. The further they move the more confused, unhappy, or angry they become. These feelings limit their dream. The limitation may be real, but it may also be a windmill (false limitation appearing real).
The late Barabra Sher addressed the limitation in her wonderful book I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was. Ms Sher highlighted the problems associated with this limitation and offered some ideas for resolving them:

Frequently people say they really want one thing, when in reality the dream they really love seems impossible--so they reject or sublimate it. The dream they put forth instead of the one they really want is a Red Herring. Many stumble, struggle, or fail to achieve the red herring because it is a windmill for what they really love.
The late author, Barbara Sher, discussed Red Herrings in her book I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What it Was. She identified 2 facts that create the failur associated with red herrings. This episode explores those facts and several options for dealing with the red herring so that you may pursue the real dream.

In this episode we explore how sometimes our dreams may need to be tempered, but should not be rejected outright. We follow Walt Disney's vision for Disney World and how it differed from what was eventually built. You can see his vision on YouTube at this link https://youtu.be/sLCHg9mUBag. Walt intended Disney World as a gift to the world. He hoped to partner with industry and others to create his Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT's original name). He envisioned people from all over the world coming to Disney World to see state-of-the-art community development integrating commercial, housing, industry, and ecologically beneficial elements.
While Walt's vision wasn't built, it can inspire us today to evaluate our dreams and contributions to society--and act to let them work. I believe he provides a great framework for season 2. I hope you agree.

We celebrate the 4th of July with food, fireworks, family, and friends. Generally, we enjoy some of the greatest opportunities, liberties, and responsibilities on the planet. Yet, those are not shared equally.
Patriotism does not belong to one party or political thought. Patriotism involves being willing to defend our country to put ourselves at risk for the greater good. I believe that true patriotism includes both recognizing the progress we have made towards a "more perfect union" and recognizing the challenges we still need to overcome to achieve that "more perfect union."
This episode explores methods to realize and appreciate how far we have come, and also how to optimize connections to be informed and act continuously to improve our country. The episode reminds us to label our limitations and to not rejoice in the limitations of others while neglecting our own. Finally, the episode encourage us to synergize purposefully with others in our community who think both as we do, but also with others who possess a differing viewpoint to make improvement.

Have you ever found yourself excited about your dreams, but as you progress towards them you find yourself losing the motivation to continue? Most people have, so you are not alone.
Real motivation limitations occur because of many factors in our life. We may be in a tough spot in our marriage or relationship. Our business may not fulfill us because we lost what we really wanted to do in the details of running the business. Physical and mental ailments affect motivation seriously. Real motivation limitations respond to a plan: seeking counseling for your marriage, finding a new job, receiving treatment for the illness.
The motivation windmill, however, arises from past experiences, doubts, and what others have repeatedly told us. It will not respond to actual plans. It responds to illogical thought and action.
This episode explores both real and false motivation limitations. I share ideas, suggestions, and resources for addressing for both. I hope it helps you let your dreams work.
