What to do when you are ready for LOVE but LOVE isn't ready for you? This isn't my story. But I'm glad that someone special shared it with me. It's her story and her vulnerability was refreshing to me. She gave me permission to publish it. I added the intro and ending....but the rest is hers. It can help you heal, if you let it.

Enjoy!

Mindsets? Connecting with the right person does not have anything to do with the container and everything to do with the substance.  The container might draw you, but its the contents that keep you.

Well this is the final episode in season 1 of thedndeffect: A little of bit of everything (All Things Relationships).  As promised, this episode is dedicated to "romantic" love (NR) and at the end of this episode I have decided to be vulnerable an pen an open letter to my "soon to be husband"-- where ever he is.  My willingness to be vulnerable has opened me up to emotional space that has been refreshing and beautiful.  I'm emotionally free and unafraid of the up's and down's that "true love" can bring.  I ready and up for the challenge!

I was called the "warden" (lol).  I raised my kids to fear God, become good productive citizens, to thrive and have an entrepreneur spirit.  I wasn't a perfect mother, but I was a good mother and their lives are reflective of that.

I can definitely relate to the so called "middle child" syndrome (the belief that the middle child is excluded, ignored, or even outright neglected because of their birth order).  I grew up with three brothers and one sister and my relationship with them varies.

I was blessed to have a father that loved and affirmed me, especially after our turbulent years. My Dad was my best friend and the reason that I will NEVER allow myself to be disregarded, mistreated or demeaned by anyone!

Everybody has a story, even our mothers!  And sometimes, the healing that we so desperately crave is released when we become acquainted with someone else's story.

Before our mothers were our mothers, they were young women, teenagers and a child and unfortunately most of us do not have any clue about  the traumas, the rejections, the hurt and the pain that have shaped them.  We only tend to see them as our mothers and in doing so we nullify their stories.  If you don't know it, I challenge you to learn her story.

In this episode I take the words of Deborah Cox, "how did you here, nobody supposed to be here" and share my journey towards emotional health. By all accounts, I'm not supposed to be here!  Being sexually abused as a child, becoming a mother at 17,  feeling unloved and alone most of my life, 2 failed marriages and many failed relationships in between those marriages--I should be an emotional wreck--but I'm NOT!  So how did I get here!  Take a listen, and you'll see how I did it.

In a world where romantic relationships are getting all of the buzz, I decided to explore the importance of having strong and emotionally healthy relationships within our family and with our friends.  Because if truth be told, when romantic relationships end, who do we usually run to for emotional support -- our family and our friends -- that's who!
