Welcome to the Collective Inner Garden Podcast, a sacred space to explore the depths of the healing journey, spirituality, wellness and all things related to radical self + collective care.
Hosted by Jamie Schumann, a former career counselor turned Breathwork facilitator creating expansive experiences for herself and others through holistic, practical and radical self-care. Through The Garden, Jamie shares how she uses breathwork and other self-care tools and practices to support self - awareness, self - love, self - trust and self - acceptance for embodying wholeness.
This practice was created to support you with allowing you to connect to your breath to help release any blocks, emotional resistance or constraints you feel around unleashing your creative side and expressing your creativity fully. It was originally recorded as a supportive tool to use under the New Moon in Leo, but can be used any time you feel you need support in your healing journey and accepting yourself in your identities and finding clarity in who you are.
This meditation is a short breathwork practice that consists of mindful breathing and connecting to the body. You can use this meditation sitting or laying down and any time of day. You can find an article I wrote about working the New Moon in Leo below for more support. I hope this practice finds you well!

This is a 10 minute meditation with background music that uses affirmations for supporting your healing in your relationship between your body and your mind. It's a wonderful practice to use during this New Moon in Cancer (and Cancer season). I love using this at night as part of an evening self-care & somatic/body connection ritual. You can also use this meditation when you feel disconnected from your body, have body image issues, struggle with physical wellness or trusting your body's innate wisdom to guide you through. Headphones are recommended but not needed. Invitation to sit quietly with your legs crossed ( if you are able ) with your your spine supported and erect, or lay down with one hand on your heart and one on your belly, or position your body however you like to relax. I hope this short meditation finds you well!

For this episode, I thought I'd share I poem I wrote a few years ago when I was beginning to learn how to trust in my body and learning the language it speaks to me. I wrote this poem after I discovered breathwork and mindful breathing as practices to support me in getting out of my head and into my body. It seemed like the perfect poem to share here on the podcast during Cancer season.

We are officially in Cancer Season! This episode explores our journey so far in the year of the zodiac from Aries - Gemini, before we land where we currently are : Cancer season. I chat about the energetic themes of Cancer season and the symbolism of its archetype (the soft shell crab) and what we can learn from this magnificent little creature. I share my current morning routine with you and how it’s changed over the years from the days when I worked full-time for someone else to now being a full-time business owner. I also touch on the shifts my nervous system has made since discovering breathwork and how your own nervous system is working perfectly to support you. Lastly, I chat about the five non-linear things that have helped me to create, refresh and sustain my A.M. routine (hint : there’s a lot of somatic experiencing!)

This New Moon in Gemini is supporting us with taking care of our thoughts and integrating our mind with our body. It's also asking us what it really looks like to be in our highest most authentic expression which means taking us back to the moment we disconnected to our own inner knowing. For many of us, this happened when we were children.
Here is short breathwork practice to support you with planting seeds under the upcoming New Moon in Gemini. I also give you 3 affirmations specific to this New Moon. Breathe with me and set your intention for this practice to use your breath to help connect to your inner child and highest self under this New Moon. You can also read all about the energy of the New Moon in Gemini and what's coming up for me personally in an article I wrote here.

In this episode, we continue the boundaries conversation! I chat about how setting boundaries is important when it comes to protecting your energy, especially mental energy and emotional energy - something that’s not valued in western culture. I talk about how it supports your self-confidence and self-trust in a way that grows personal integrity and living out your values. I also chat a bit about burnout and the shame we feel with it. I share my short mindful process of how to set boundaries with yourself and with others which includes understanding your values and needs, identifying how to get them met and then implementation. To round out this conversation, I give you 3 common myths about boundaries I’ve discovered in my own healing journey with boundary work. I hope this episode helps you to connect to your intention and live an empowered life through setting boundaries!

What are boundaries? What common emotions do we navigate when we start doing boundary work? This episode is years in the making for me! In episode #11 of The Collective Inner Garden Podcast, I share what I’ve learned when it comes to navigating boundaries with friends and family and carving out your own path in this world. I talk about the meaning of your emotions as messengers and how to support them and take care of them somatically. I also get candid about feeling upheaval in your life and relationships when you start to set boundaries with others including the challenging emotions that might come up for you when you do boundary work and why we might experience them. I talk about managing anger, dealing with fear, understanding grief and reconciling shame - all of the feelings you might feel when you start to do boundary work. I also touch on how feeling disrespected and betrayed is common if you are confronting someone who has violated a boundary with you. I hope this episode helps you better understand what boundaries are and the emotions that might come up for you!

Do you ever feel like you just aren’t good enough? Do you ever feel like you are behind? Do you jump to the future and then feel fear and anxiety about it all? These are some of the ways in which I abandon myself in my own healing journey. None of us are perfect and I suspect I'll have these moments often. In the meantime, I want to share my process with you in how I chose not to abandon myself - in my healing, my creativity and my self-care. This episode is the final part of a 3 part series called “How to Not Abandon Yourself”. New to this series? Start with episode #7.

It’s been a while since my last episode! I’m back in episode 6 chatting about the powerful energy of becoming and what it means right now to embrace the process of becoming through change and transition under a Full Moon Taurus eclipse. I also share a really beautiful piece I wrote during a time when I was in an all around life changing transition and needed to let my intuition and values guide me. Allow yourself to be moved by your breath and your surroundings as you embrace this time of change, transition all while asking yourself, “What does it mean to become someone, if I don’t even give myself permission to try to become? To allow the becoming to happen?”. Sometimes becoming is about finding your way back to your truest self, and sometimes finding who you really are means letting go of who you thought you should become. I hope you enjoy this episode!

What is radical self - care? In this episode, I unpack the term radical and my relationship to it. I share how taking mindful moments to breathe and practice breathwork has changed my life and become a sustainable act of radical self - care. I give examples of my own radical acts of self - care I've committed to beyond breathwork and explore their nuances and simplicity. I also refer to boundary setting in this episode along with change and self - growth and I leave you with a short journal prompt to get you reflecting on radical self - care for your own life.

What does burnout look and feel like? What does rest look and feel like? In this episode, I share the burnout challenges I faced at the end of 2021 in my first year in business. In this episode I explore a term I use quite a bit on instagram and in my healing work. What does the word “liminal” actually mean? How do we experience liminal space? How does it serve us? I use some everyday examples to describe what liminal space actually means to me and how we usually experience it. I chat about feelings and emotions and how they play a part in experiencing liminality in regards to emotional triggers and why no one can actually make you feel anything you aren’t already feeling on some level. I also talk about how liminal space is part of duality and identity as we navigate through our physical world and empower ourselves to find acceptance in the in-between.

A big warm welcome to the Collective Inner Garden Podcast! In this first episode, I introduce myself and talk about the four main markers of how I know I am engaged in a deep transformational part of my healing journey. I talk about the call to heal and healing work, setting an intention to heal, using tools + supports in the healing journey and the outcome of the healing process. I chat about healing from a spiritual perspective and share my experiences and what I've learned about healing + my own healing journey as an intuitive.
