Welcome to The Bee Charmer's Podcast! Our focus is to laugh, first and foremost. For those of you that are from the South or simply people that appreciate the infectious and charming way southerners communicate and reel people in with their humor, kindness, strength and nurturing capabilities.......then this podcast is for YOU. I was born in Canada and can remember when we would come to visit my Grandmother "Granny" in Kentucky - I would always leave thinking that I needed to learn another language. I couldn't figure out what certain words or phrases meant. For instance, when Granny would find something surprising, she would say, "well lawsy sakes alive!" When we would leave, Granny would say, "Ya'll come back now, ya hear!" Then, we moved to Kentucky when I was around 7/8 and the southern communication became even more confusing to me. Everyone from the south had an uncanny ability to make even the most critical of comments about another person seem kind. Such as, "Have you seen Mary-Lou lately? She is fat as a pig.......bless her heart." Make no mistake about it, we will have serious conversations, but just as it always is when I spend time with my southern-fav's - we manage to laugh even in our darkest moments. There is just something so special and unique about these trusting southern charmers and how they make you feel when you are around them. So please stay tuned........
Everyone is talking about it. This is not or cannot be a Republican vs. Democrat issue. The mere fact that we are STILL debating this!!!! It won't be long before we ALL know someone murdered or severely injured in a shooting spree. The fact that the younger generations don't become "mortified" by these tragedies speaks volumes. I'm not criticizing the younger generations. Merely making a point. This is NOT acceptable. You can't guarantee safety everywhere. We know this. Life is unlimited in its ability to remind you that nothing is guaranteed. However, we can do something about limiting access to weapons of "mass destruction" in our nation.
To anyone out there that struggles with the internal cycle of shame and guilt..............please know that there's always HOPE.
Read something today on a friend's facebook and thought I'd share. It's perfect:
My dad has bees.Today I went to his house and he showed me all of the honey he had gotten from the hives. He took the lid off of a 5 gallon bucket full of honey and on top of the honey there were 3 little bees, struggling. They were covered in sticky honey and drowning. I asked him if we could help them and he said he was sure they wouldn't survive. Casualties of honey collection I suppose.
I asked him again if we could at least get them out and kill them quickly, after all he was the one who taught me to put a suffering animal (or bug) out of its misery. He finally conceded and scooped the bees out of the bucket. He put them in an empty Chobani yogurt container and put the plastic container outside.
Because he had disrupted the hive with the earlier honey collection, there were bees flying all over outside.
We put the 3 little bees in the container on a bench and left them to their fate. My dad called me out a little while later to show me what was happening. These three little bees were surrounded by all of their sisters (all of the bees are females) and they were cleaning the sticky nearly dead bees, helping them to get all of the honey off of their bodies. We came back a short time later and there was only one little bee left in the container. She was still being tended to by her sisters.
When it was time for me to leave we checked one last time and all three of the bees had been cleaned off enough to fly away and the container was empty.
Those three little bees lived because they were surrounded by family and friends who would not give up on them, family and friends who refused to let them drown in their own stickiness and resolved to help until the last little bee could be set free.
Bee Sisters. Bee Peers. Bee Teammates.
We could all learn a thing or two from these bees.
Bee kind always.

Sure wish this had video capabilities. You can refer to my Facebook for that. I love you all. We can get through anything if we rely on one another. This wasn't my remotely best material. More to come..........
Just info on the second episode of The Bee Charmers with cohost Beth Vines (some may remember as Beth Champan). I'm trying to get right with God, but this Bible stuff is serious business!!!
Okay, here are two of my favorite Bee Charmers ( we did this over a month ago, but who's counting right?). Amy and Vicki, I love you both so much and look forward to listening, laughing and learning even more from you both. Hope others will soon join along! Enjoy!
This is just a test run for our upcoming "The Bee Charmers" Podcast. There will be much more amusing/interesting/uplifting topics other than a top 10 playlist without any editing. Heaven help me figure all of this editing app stuff. Hold tight people!!! It will be worth it. :)
