A GAME OF THRONES PODCAST THAT HAS BEEN PAYING ATTENTION AS THE NEW SEASON FILMS With Joanna Robinson from Vanity Fair, Dave Gonzales from Geek.com and Neil Miller from Film School Rejects! Welcome to another off season tour episode of A STORM OF SPOILERS! (Sort of?) This week - Joanna has sent Da7e and Neil back to the Citadel of Crazytown to clean up all the raven poop and check the pulse of the currently-in-production seventh season of Game of Thrones. Thanks to eagle-eyed spoiler-fanatics (we love you so!) and consistant updates from our friends at Watchers on the Wall, the two are able to get a basic idea of the shape of Season 7. There will be characters reuniting! There will be Olde Town antics! Everything else is speculation based on production spoilers. We may be months and a long winter out from the new season of Game of Thrones, but that doesn't mean we're not obsessed with it. This week's episode is brought to you by Loot Crate, offering an epic range of pop cul...

Published on 03 Mar 2019. It’s now a whooping 14 years since the release of “A Feast for Crows”, a book that has been met with considerable disappointment back when it was released after an unprecedented five-year-wait (oh, sweet summer child, what do you know of waiting times) after the exhilariting high that was “A Storm of Swords”. Since then, however, it has steadily risen in appreciation for many readers and is widely regarded as one of the top novels of the series. I personally rank it second after “A Dance with Dragons”, but I know of others who even rank it first. Today, I’m getting Jim McGeehin (SomethingLikeALawyer from Wars and Politics of Ice and Fire) back on board to discuss the meaning of the title of the novel: “A Feast for Crows”. Why is there a feast in the first place, and who are the crows? We go through the different story arcs and visit the Ironborn, torn between three distinct political futures, have a look at how the monarchy is disintegrating in King’s Landing, look at Braavos, where Arya’s and Sam’s fates intertwine for a moment, and also don’t neglect the fate of the three kingdoms so far spared from the corpse heap the titular crows are feeding from: Dorne, the Reach and the Vale. What’s in store for them when the Winds of Winter come calling? Folllow us through a ride, analyzing the themes, the character arcs, the plot and all the while compare it to our own rich history. Is Jaime acting in the same mental headspace as the American troops in Iraq? Can you ever conquer and occupy a country like the Ironborn try with the North, or will you always suffer the fate of the invading Wehrmacht in Ukraine? May it be a mistake to introduce religious fanatism to a world ravaged by civil war (spoiler alert: yes)? All of those heady questions come together in a deep tapestry in the current episode of the Boiled Leather Audio Hour, brought to you by Supreme Boiler of Leather Morgan! PS: If you play the “A Game of Thrones” boardgame by Fantasy Flight Games, Amin Javadi from the Podcast of Ice and Fire would very much like you to take part in this survey:https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2145938/game-thrones-board-game-tournament-survey-formThanks a lot!   Download Episode 83! Published on 16 Apr 2019. Here we are at last, the much-anticipated Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 1 "Winterfell" has arrived. Eight years of intricate storytelling, twists, turns, betrayals, plots and schemes have been leading up to this point (I know, plots and schemes are the same thing).

This is the beginning of the end and, with so much riding on it, the first episode manages to exceed expectations while maintaining an impressive pace and plenty of heart.

Daenerys' army arrives in Winterfell, the Army of the Dead encroaches on the North, Euron delivers the Golden Company to King's Landing, the Northern Lords question Jon's leadership, Tormund and Beric explore the home of House Umber, Arya reunites with Jon Snow, Dany admits to the execution of Sam's family, the Night King leaves a grisly warning at Last Hearth, Jon (finally) learns of his true parentage, and Jaime comes face to face with a ghost from his past.

What it was like working with the bear at Harrenhal. How it's been for her to change her look to play Brienne, and where Brienne's beauty comes from. How she trained and prepared to play Brienne, and what it's like getting into charcter. The relationship between Brienne and Jaime, and what it was like to film the bath scene. Who she thinks should have the crown. Who she'd most want Brienne to fight. And a lot more.

Enourmous thanks to James of The Walker Stalkers (walkerstalkercon.com) for bringing us in to do the panel and for allowing us to use the audio.

Found in The Book of Swords, the latest (and allegedly, until The Winds of Winter is published, the last) genre anthology co-edited by GRRM and Gardner Dozois, “TSotD” chronicles the lives of Aegon “The Conqueror” Targaryen’s two large adult sons, Aenys and Maegor. Being named “anus” and “meager” wound up being the least of their problems, as we soon learn. Sean & Stefan discuss the most striking aspects of the failsons’ stories, as well as the political and supernatural status quo of the era in which they take place; debate the quality and merit of this and other faux-historical texts in the setting; and end with commentary on Martin’s writerly priorities. The Babble Boys fought through some pacing/continuity issues (as well as a wicked hangover) to delve into this gigantic episode in another live edition of our ToB Breakdowns. Cersei proves she's still a force to be reckoned with, Sam arrives in Oldtown, Arya enjoys sweet, sweet vengeance, a new King in the North is declared, Bran FINALLY completes the Tower of Joy vision, and Daenerys sets her house in order before FINALLY setting sail for Westeros. This week's Game of Thrones theme isn't a theme at all. In homage of the great score used in the season six finale I chose to use a track from the season six original soundtrack. The piece is called "The Light of the Seven", composed by Ramin Djawadi.

Published on 29 Jan 2018. The Davos’ Fingers Podcast returns with Episode 066:  No Chance...and No Choice and it starts off pretty damn dreary as Reek is forced to assist Ramsay while he claims another victim.  Meanwhile, Brienne does battle at the Inn at the Crossroads with an old foe, Jaime tries to avoid battle at Riverrun with a childhood hero, and Jon deals with some dissenting opinions regarding his command style.  Also, Doran takes action….kinda.

We are doing a combined reading order for A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, so be sure to check out afeastwithdragons.com to follow along with our reading order, created by Game of Owns.

Stick around for the end of the podcast for Davos After Dark if you are interested in hearing spoilers through the end of all books.  But for the main portion of the podcast we try to remain spoiler free, only covering those chapters that we’ve already read.  So listen at ease.

We love to hear from the Khalasar, so give us a shout.  Whether it’s through email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on twitter @davosfingers, through our site davosfingers.com, or finding us on Facebook, hearing from you would make our day!  We do our best to interact with everyone that comes our way.  Thanks for riding through the Dothraki Sea with us!

Chapters covered: The Prince of Winterfell (ADWD), The Watcher (ADWD), Brienne 7 (AFFC), Jaime 6 (AFFC), Jon 8 (ADWD)

Published on 13 Nov 2017. The Davos’ Fingers podcast brings you Episode 65, traversing the map.  Jaime tries to negotiate a tangled net of fish at Riverrun, Reek tries not to wet himself in front of two generations of Boltons, and Jon gets some new recruits and reminds us all what the Night’s Watch is all about.  Meanwhile Dany buries dead Astapori but revives her own passion, and Cersei tries to lump the dying in with the dead just to spoil Margaery’s day.

We are doing a combined reading order of A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons.  This reading order can be found at davosfingers.com, and was created by Game of Owns.  We love this order as it allows us to read this series in near chronological order for all characters.

We are spoiler-free for the main part of the podcast, only talking about the series as we’ve read it thus far.  BUT, we do have a special segment at the end where we will talk theories and spoilers.  So stick around for Davos After Dark if you are into that sort of thing.

Want to send us some feedback?  Send us a white raven!  We can be found at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on twitter @davosfingers, through our site davosfingers.com, or find us and like us on Facebook!

Chapters Covered:  Jaime 5 (AFFC), Reek 3 (ADWD), Jon 7 (ADWD), Daenerys 6 (ADWD), and Cersei 8 (AFFC).

We discuss male member evasions, what the heck is going on with Missandei and Grey Worm, debate the Westerosi (and Essosian?) politics of foreign wars and cultural tolerance, ponder where Sansa, Jaime, and Brienne are all going, Cersei’s prophecy, and the part Tyrion has to play in “The Wars to Come”. This, as well as your feedback, and some debate on fandom’s approach to deviations from accepted canon as well as the ethics and wisdom of binging on leaked episodes. All this and more, enjoy!

We really do have a lot of fun though. Bronn gets a raise, Jon advances his Wildling infiltration significantly, Davos is saved from a rock spire jutting up from the middle of the ocean, Tywin and Cersei are both loving and kind (huh?). In what turned out to be a behemoth, two and a half hour extravaganza, they boys discuss the merits of mounted cavalry versus untrained foot soldiers, whether the tree cave was more LotRy or Fraggle Rocky, who had Arya’s best interests at heart, what’s worse; a punch to the nuts or a savage kick to the vagoo, and finally, just how Effed in the Bee is Westeros at the close of this season? All this, plus a ton of feedback, and A.Ron tries to talk book readers off their ledge in the spoiler section. Don’t forget, we come back next week for an epic season four wrap up cast! Karen and I have been doing the Walking Dead 'Cast for almost five years now, and we're every bit as excited about this amazing show as that one. We're honored to be joined by Gracie Lou and Mr. Blahg of Under the Comic Covers, as well as Karen's husband David; three friends who are even more passionate and knowledgable about this series than we are.

In this first episode, we introduce ourselves and give you our background with the series and the books, and then we play a segment from a 2012 episode of Walking Dead 'Cast where we broadly covered our opinions of the series at the time, with some specifics about seasons one and two. Also the latest news about Game of Thrones, some comparisions between the show and the book in those first two seasons, and some of your enthusiastic feedback.

If you'd like to write to us, you can reach us at game@podcastica.com, and you can find us on the web at gameofmicrophones.com and podcastica.com.

This week on our Game of Microphones Series Rewatch, join Lord Stirling, Lady Kristin, and special guest Lady Anwen, First of Her Name, to dissect Game of Thrones Season 2 Episode 8, "The Prince of Winterfell".  So much good stuff to talk about this week as we explore the themes of fear, honor, sacrifice, observe and quantify how our favorite characters paths are molded by those around them, question if Shae was a faceless man, witness Arya hoodwink the God of Death yet again, as just one instance of a larger trend, look on in terror and shame as Theon dooms himself to Reekdom and decides not to "abandon ship" (Iron-born pun!), staying at Winterfell after Yara attempts to set his course straight (Sorry, I can't help myself with these Iron-born puns, apparently).  The morning sky is red, Theon.  Take warning. Published on 17 May 2016. Jim and A.Ron, after careful sober analysis, declare “Book of the Stranger” an awesome episode of HBO’s Game of Thornes.  In an impressive display of girl power, Sansa and Jon team up to take back the North, Cersie and the Queen of Thorns conspire to take back King’s Landing, Yara helps her brother find his spine, Dany flips braziers and sets fire to many a Khal’s ambition, and Osha… well, Osha finds that there are still limits to what a gal can get away with in Westeros, but we’re mostly okay with that because it seems like Ramsey already has a noose around his neck and doesn’t even know it.  And that’s not even the half of it.  Pink letters, Tormund and Brienne shipping, Littlefinger scheming, and much more coming straight up.

Don’t forget, we’re not done!  We’ll be back Friday with our SpoiLore podcast where we take a deep dive into the myth and legend within the pages of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, and try to examine the signs and portents within to see where we’re going on this crazy ride.

We’re also excited to announce that we’ll be invited guests at the Rocket City Nerd Con.  We’ll be hosting panels and getting into all kinds of geek related mischief in downtown Huntsville, Alabama the weekend October 22-23.  For more information visit their website, and to stay up to date with their latest info follow them on Facebook and Twitter.  We’ll have more info in the weeks ahead, but please come out and say “hi!”

Published on 21 Aug 2017. AFTERBUZZ TV -- Game of Thrones edition, is a weekly "after show" for fans of HBO's Game of Thrones. In this episode hosts Kristen Snyder, Dave Child, Amber Plaster, and Kyle Maddock discuss season 7's episode 6.

ABOUT GAME OF THRONES: Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

Game of Thrones roughly follows the storylines set out in A Song of Ice and Fire, set in the fictional Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The series chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among the realm's noble families for control of the Iron Throne. As the series opens, additional threats emerge in the icy North and in the eastern continent of Essos. The first season is a faithful adaptation of the novel. Later seasons, however, began to diverge with significant changes. According to David Benioff, the show is "about adapting the series as a whole and following the map George laid out for us and hitting the major milestones, but not necessarily each of the stops along the way."

The novels and their adaptation derive aspects of their settings, characters, and plot from various events of European history. A principal inspiration for the novels is the English Wars of the Roses (145585) between the houses of Lancaster and York, reflected in Martin's houses of Lannister and Stark. Most of Westeros is reminiscent of High Medieval Western Europe, with its castles and knightly tournaments. The scheming Cersei, for instance, calls to mind Isabella, the "she-wolf of France" (12951358). She and her family inspired Martin, as depicted in Maurice Druon's historical novel series The Accursed Kings, in particular. Other historical inspirations for elements of the series include Hadrian's Wall (which became Martin's great Wall), the legend of Atlantis (ancient Valyria), Byzantine "Greek fire" ("wildfire"), Icelandic sagas of the Viking Age (the Ironborn), the Mongol hordes (the Dothraki), and elements from the Hundred Years' War (13371453) and the Italian Renaissance (c. 14001500). The series' great popularity has been attributed in part to Martin's skill at fusing these disparate elements into a seamless whole that appears credible on its own terms as an alternative history.

"The Sopranos in Middle-earth" is the tagline that showrunner David Benioff jokingly suggested for Game of Thrones, referring to its intrigue-filled plot and dark tone combined with a fantasy setting that incorporates some magic and dragons. In a 2012 study of deaths per episode, the series was listed second out of 40 recent U.S. TV drama series, with an average of 14 deaths per episode.
