Bob and jack are nearing the end of their trip. They started out celebrating Bob's birthday (and Nina's) at her place in NC, and now they are stopping back by on their way home with Jack turning 15. Because of his awful behavior last time, we're hoping Nina won't make him stay in the RoadTrek... !
Also Bob Interviews his longtime friend and ham buddy, David Collins.
Check out Bob's challenge question for a chance to win a NO EXPENSES PAID trip to Montross. ....answer today's question correctly and you too can pay to come visit Bob in Montross and take him out to dinner.....maybe even buy him a drink and invite him to your Air BnB during your visit so he can regale you with tales of his travels. :D

Well folks we finally did it! 🥂. ————————-On Wednesday morning we pulled out of No Name Harbor at 6:30ish and trawled our way right on over that beautiful big blue Atlantic 🌊 We caught one pretty amazing thunder storm about halfway through but got our soggy selves into Bimini right around 3. We’d cleared customs by 6 and were having a champagne toast by 7. In today’s episode, we’ll discuss the journey here, our Bimini/Brown’s Marina experience checking in to customs and immigration , then we’ll move on to the Berry Islands weekend and all that entailed. It’s been an action-packed week and we’ve got lots to share so thanks for joining the podcast again today!

We arrived here in Key Biscayne on Memorial Day and have been having a little fun while we wait for the perfect weather to cross. Captain Bob invested in new batteries, Jack has gotten all 4 legs seaworthy and taking his boat dog patrol very seriously and Wendy learned to sail the Trinka sailing dinghy w the help of our new friend Alejandro. It’s been a fun week and we’re here to discuss it and tell you all about No Name Harbor and the beautiful Bill Baggs state park - raccoon in the bathroom, refugee raft, lighthouse tour, and more. If you’d like to see our new friends artwork then visit his site at www.paintingsofships.com
This week, we left Boca Chica on Thursday, a few days behind when we originally thought we’d leave for what turned out to be a “Shakedown Cruise”. We got 20 minutes out and realized the engine wasn’t running at 100%. Anchored, spent a little time in the engine room then Capt Bob made the good call to return to Boca Chica and do a little looking around in the engine room. We fixed the problems and headed out before 7am on Friday. Anchored at Marathon on Friday, Cowpen Harbor on Sat, Pumpkin Key on Sun. Will head to No Name Harbor tomorrow and stay there while waiting for weather to agree for crossing. This week we’ve trained Jack to be happy on board, had some amazingly beautiful views, calm waters and even made a slew of lasagna and vacuum sealed it for the freezer. We’ll discuss all that and more in today’s episode. Plus we’ve got a few segments we’ll be trying out and even some musical entertainment from friends for you to enjoy. Thanks for joining us for episode 3. ⚓️
Episode 2 is on the books and ready to listen! Tomorrow we get under way. Heading out at 7am to Key Biscayne. Will anchor for a bit and watch for the green flash while we're there. Captain Bob will be keeping his eye on the currents and wind and we'll make a break for the Berry Islands, Bahamas when have fair winds and following seas. In this episode we talk about the Bonnie K, what we've accomplished this week we've got a Jack update and all the news that's fit to print as we finish up our time in Boca Chica and head for the open seas. Thanks for joining us again. Captain Bob, Jack, and Wendy signing off until next week. Want to get in touch? Last week Wendy made it down to Key West and the preparations began. Since then we've replaced the anchor chain, serviced the AC twice, drained the fluids from the engine, replaced oil cooler, transmission oil cooler and the heat exchanger (still have a little to do there with a wonkily-placed bolt). In addition, some good food has been made and consumed and Wendy did a little repair work on the front window. Things are moving right along here on the Bonnie K and we're looking ahead at the weather to ensure we leave when the wind is right. This week we'll discuss where we're going, how we're getting there and what to expect along the way. Thanks for joining us! * If you'd like to email us with questions, comments, suggestions or just to give a shout out of support we can be reached at jackandbobgebeauxshow@gmail.com **
