The Saibatu Mansaray Journey needed some time to reset and focus on self-care. Having lived through a very overachieving career, I need to learn how to stop and smell the roses and that time is NOW. The world we live in today has set the tone that if you’re not overworking yourself then success will be hard to come by. We tend to label our friends, family members and colleagues as lazy or unmotivated when they are not overwhelming themselves to attain success. No one hardly says take a break, bosses barely ask about the health and welfare of their employees, leaders and family avoid using a soft approach to motivation, it’s more of a do or die. Ariana Oluwole, a transformational coach, “edupreneur,” and an African woman who has been featured on BBC -focus on Africa and CNN- African Voices for a Change Maker special feature joins me in this episode to chat about self-care and its importance for health and wellbeing.

You don’t want to miss:

  • Her perspective on self-care and her journey
  • How to normalize and integrate self-care and mental health in schools
  • The mistakes of high-performing individuals leading to burnout

Through my story and those of my amazing guests, I pray that our message touches the lives of people to be inspired and serve as a catalyst for action. Together we can make a difference and be a light!

See you on the Journey!

In this episode, we chat about maternal mortality in our beloved country Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone has among the highest maternal mortality ratios in the world and sadly our rural women shoulder the burden more than their urban counterparts. Together Aminata and I are on a mission to reduce and end maternal mortality in rural Sierra Leone.
