I'm in Here
I’m in Here is all about content that I want to see out in the world. A queer black gender non-conforming person talking about self-care, spirituality, mental health and sharing stories from my lived experiences that have helped me get through some really hard times. I call this project I'm in Here because for many of us that is what we are screaming out into the world. We want to be seen, we want to be heard. We want the world to know that we are here and we deserve to be here.
As I deepen my relationship with God, I find myself stepping into a new realm—spiritual warfare. This isn't just a metaphor but a real, daily battle to protect my faith, mind, and heart from the forces that seek to pull me away from my walk with Christ. I’ve realized that this warfare is part of the journey to spiritual growth, a necessary challenge as I grow closer to Him. It’s not just about surviving the battles—it’s about being transformed by them, becoming stronger, more faithful, and deeply rooted in His truth.

Now this can look a myriad of different ways but the point is to find people who are in alignment with some of the things that you believe and subscribe to. Otherwise… it gets sticky.

Moving from one spiritual practice to another can feel daunting, but you may find that there are common threads that you can align yourself with. Ultimately the goal is to be able to have a personal relationship with God/Spirit and if that means you have to craft something that is specific to you, then by all means do that.

I’m finding that there are some places in my healing that still feel stuck or that I ‘m having a hard time working through and it dawned on me recently that I haven’t truly embodied forgiveness. Learning how to forgive myself for the ways an times that I betrayed myself is a practice that I want to be comfortable with and know how to do.

In this episode I talk about faith and what that means when it comes to moving into something in my healing/liberation journey. There are no guarantees when it comes to seeking external validation and confirmation, the trust and confidence has to come from within. Leaning on Spirit, or any higher power, means that I must walk with assuredness and know that no matter what, Spirit has my back. No more hyper vigilance.

A lot of folks talk about manifesting what you want in your life and I think that’s great. But the thing is that rarely are people talking about the truth of what doing that work entails which leads me to believe that they may be missing some key components. Manifestation is great work and it can be a lot of fun, but if you are not doing “the work” then your manifesting will not be successful. In the episode I talk about my journey and what I’ve learned.

Oooooo… I think this might be my favorite episode to date. Though I say that about every episode. Understanding how to be self aware in this life can be daunting, especially when you’ve never practiced self awareness before. There are so many things that we think about ourselves, but we rarely even know what we truly think because our minds are distracted and intentionally keeping us from the things that we say about ourselves to ourselves. My healing journey has taken me along many different paths. Some of those paths I avoided for a long time because I didn't feel ready to tackle that particular aspect. Fear has been one of those aspects that I avoided. But after a year of diving head first into my fears I've found so much more vibrancy of life. This isn't to say that my fears are completely gone, but I now have tools to deal with the fear.

This is the last chakra in our chakra series. The crown chakra is the energy center of enlightenment. When we have reached the pinnacle of this chakra we are transcending this physical world and moving into the world of pure energy. While this is the last chakra that we will be discussing, there are more chakras that stretch beyond our head and go up further out from our physical bodies. If you are interested in learning about these chakras I encourage you to look them up and research them on your own to find out what they do and how you can access that energy in your spiritual work.

The Third Eye or Ajna chakra is all about spiritual awakening and enlightenment. In this episode I talk about the harms that can come from not working through each of your chakras (or at least doing some introductory energy/healing work) before you start to open up this chakra.
This energy enter is a doozy with very potent energy. Opening ourselves up to the energy of the Universe is intense so make sure you take your time as you move through your work. I also share a crystal that is a good match for this chakra. Enjoy!

In this podcast episode I talk about the throat chakra or vishuddha as it is known in Sanskrit. This is the energy center that is all about communication. And not just verbal communication but nonverbal as well as internal dialogue and communication with Spirit/God/Source/Energy. Though we are looking at each energy center individually, each chakra is part of a system and works in conjunction with the other chakras. How are you in relationship with your power? What does power mean to you? These are some good questions to start as we explore the Solar Plexus or Manipura chakra which is the seat or center of our power and confidence. In this vepisode I share with you what this energy center is all about and pose some questions that may assist you in uncovering what is at the root of any imbalances in this chakra. I would say this is one of the chakras that tends to get overlooked and yet it is soooooooo essential for following our purpose and personal evolution.

Coming off the heels of the last episode where we talked about “the work” and the timing of that last post being right after Mother’s Day, I thought that it would a good time to talk about the ways that I have been healing my inner child. I’ve had some conversations with folks who have also been connecting with their inner child lately. Part of “the work” is getting to the root of the anxieties and patterns of pain and trauma to better understand how to address and heal them. A great deal of our safety strategies, behaviors and patterns were created when we were young, mostly between birth and ten. But of course we also develop certain behaviors that we picked up from our caregivers. All of this is a part of how we work on ourselves and it starts with…

So often when I talk about my journey of healing and doing the work I get asked what “the work” actually is. This was a conversation that was started by my wife and our oldest daughter who wanted to know what “the work” is and how does someone start. Our daughter wanted a bullet list with clear and concise tools and practices that “the work” entailed, but as we talked and shared what we do she realized that the work isn’t so clear cut and defined as many of us would like for it to be.

As we all become more aware of generational trauma and how that affects us in the now, I want to also begin looking at how generational healing looks. This is a new venture that I am embarking on and I am brining you along for this interesting and emotional ride. In this episode I share some of the things that have been coming up for me in meditation around healing in connection with my ancestors as well as with my personal history. I open up about what I am trying and I hope that you are able to find some pieces that spark some interest in your to either begin or deepen in your own healing practice.

Love and safety are two sides of the same coin, but we don’t think that they are. In order to feel the fullness of love, we have to feel safe enough to allow ourselves to let love in. This is a challenge for many of us because we are afraid of being hurt (understandably so) which then causes us to block the love that we are so desperately wanting. In this episode I talk about love and ways to find your love language for yourself and establish healthy self-love practices. I also talk about routes of safety which is a new concept. Learning your routes of safety in conjunction with learning your love languages can help give you a fuller picture of what you want and what do you don’t want when it comes to boundaries, relationships and an overall healthy self-love journey.

In this introductory episode we start at square one, the truest self that resides deep within and extends beyond our physical bodies.
