Richman Elementary School principal Kristen Holm discusses her journey to become a teacher as well as tonies' recent storytime and donation event with LeVar Burton.
Ranzie Callahan, a reading specialist, and Hannah Raney, a kindergarten teacher, join us to talk about the path towards literacy and some of the challenges involved. They offer advice on how to use tonies, and other strategies for helping children learn to read.
Judith Fly and Jenny VanDingstee join us to talk about their mutual affinity for tonies, which led to creating Toniebox USA, a Facebook fan group dedicated to tonies. They share admin responsibility and have overseen growth of the group to over six thousands members.

Alba teaches 2nd grade at Navy Hale Keiki School in a military community in Honolulu. She is an IMSE Certified teacher (Institute for Multi-Sensory Education).
Recently honored in Epic Blog for Master Teacher of Month (https://www.getepic.com/learn/master-teacher-of-the-month-amanda-alba/) for her ideas and inspiration for parents and teachers to help children develop a love for reading.
Alba shares how she uses Tonieboxes in her classroom to facilitate multi-sensory learning, social and emotional learning, adjusting to family deployments and movement with the GoNoodle Toniebox.

Let’s zoom in on how a Toniebox is actually used in a classroom.
Say hello to Chelsea Botkin, Daisy Beaver, and Andrea Kennedy - a phenomenal teacher team from Lee County Primary School, GA.
These three teachers are doing amazing work with children in a small, rural and underserved community in Georgia.
Chelsea was one of our recent teacher features! She wrote this:
“I teach 2nd grade in a small, rural, economically disadvantaged school system in Southwest Georgia. I am always looking for new ways to engage my students and help them develop a love for reading. I found Tonibox at the end of the school year and was instantly hooked. I knew I had to incorporate this into my daily school/teaching routine. I began looking at the ways we could use the Toniebox in the classroom. I spoke with other teachers and we put some ideas together. One way I use the Toniebox in the classroom is as a recognition tool to highlight the students in my class. A student is drawn each week. That student receives an “All About Me” poster to fill out. They choose a book on their instructional level or below to practice for the week. On Thursday, the student goes to a special place to record the book they have practiced all week. On Friday, we play the recording for the whole class. The other students then fill out a paper about what they liked about that friend and their reading. I put them all together and the student gets to keep the encouraging letters. My students LOVE this! They are so thrilled each week to see what book their peer has chosen and to encourage them as well.”
