Six months. Dozens of conversations. And this final episode of the Menopause Series may be the most grounding one yet.
We wrap up the series with her dear friend Maureen Harrison an Integrated Wellness Practitioner based in Strathroy, Ontario, whose home studio feels like a little apothecary. Maureen brings a beautifully layered approach to supporting women through perimenopause and menopause: reflexology (foot, hand, and facial), aromatherapy, community herbalism, Reiki, energy work, gem essences, and the newly introduced Zone Facelift and Indian Head Massage.
This conversation is an invitation to slow down, tune in, and remember that your body holds its own wisdom and that supporting it doesn't have to be complicated.
What You'll Hear in This Episode * Why Maureen's work is co-creative, not prescriptive and how that changes everything * The 60+ symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, and why your experience is entirely individual * How reflexology maps on the face, hands, and feet correspond to body systems including the reproductive and digestive systems * The simple, at-home technique using a spoon on your chin to stimulate hormonal reflexes * Where the adrenal reflex lives on your face, and why cortisol is often the unsung driver of menopausal symptoms * A gentle guide to working the "70s mustache" zone for bloating and digestion * How aromatherapy blends are customized to each woman's shifting needs — and why a one-size-fits-all approach falls short * The power of community herbalism: chamomile, peppermint, nettle, rose, and calendula — and how to bring them into your everyday routine through teas, carrier oils, and skincare * Gua sha and facial cupping what they are, how they work, and why Maureen says our laugh lines deserve to stay * The role of tracking your cycle, skin, cravings, and energy including watching moon cycles as a form of embodied self-knowledge * Why Maureen (and Misty) believe our disconnection from nature is amplifying the challenges of this life stage * Maureen's deeply moving personal experience navigating her last period and what the medical system got wrong * The wisdom reframe: perimenopause and menopause as an entry into inner powerment, clearer boundaries, and deeper self-knowing * What's launching on Maureen's website in June: her 12-week Menopause Reflexology Program, Zone Facelift program, Indian Head Massage, Thai herbal poultice, and holistic facials

There comes a point where you realize no one really taught you what was coming next.
In this episode of Burn the Rulebook Menopause Series, Misty sits down with Lindsey, a yoga teacher turned yoga therapist who found herself asking deeper questions when she realized how little information existed around menopause.
What started as curiosity became a calling.
This conversation dives into the gaps in women's health education, the evolution of menopause awareness, and how women can begin to understand and support their bodies in a more informed, compassionate way.
It's thoughtful, honest, and rooted in the reality that many women are navigating this season without enough guidance.
What we explore in this episode • Lindsay's journey from yoga teacher to yoga therapist specializing in menopause • The lack of menopause education and why so many women feel unprepared • How curiosity can lead to deeper purpose and work that actually matters • The shift from general wellness to targeted support for women in midlife • Why menopause conversations are only just starting to open up • Supporting women through informed, body-aware practices • The importance of education for both practitioners and everyday women • How women can begin to feel more equipped instead of overwhelmed

Menopause is often treated like a mysterious door women suddenly walk through. One day everything feels normal. The next day your body seems to be speaking a language you do not recognize.
In this episode of the Burn the Rulebook Menopause Series, Misty sits down with Dana Culp, a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner and founder of Thrive Midlife Medicine, to talk about what is really happening during perimenopause and menopause.
Dana shares how her own confusing and frustrating health journey led her to specialize in midlife hormonal care after being repeatedly dismissed by healthcare providers despite working in medicine herself. That experience lit a fire in her to help women access better information, better care, and real support during this stage of life.
Together Misty and Dana explore the myths, the overlooked symptoms, and the powerful shift that happens when women start advocating for themselves and learning what their bodies are truly experiencing.
This conversation is both educational and deeply validating for anyone wondering why things suddenly feel different in their body.
In This Episode we explore: • Why so many women feel dismissed when seeking help for perimenopause symptoms • The surprising reason Dana finally sought help during her own experience • Why menopause is technically just one day and what actually happens during perimenopause • The hormonal fluctuations that create the chaos many women experience • Why many doctors receive little education about menopause during medical training • The power imbalance that often exists between patients and medical providers • Why women need to see themselves as part of their own healthcare team • How to pre screen providers to find someone knowledgeable about midlife hormones • The biggest myths about hormone therapy including the long standing cancer misconception • Why perimenopause symptoms can begin in your thirties • The often overlooked symptoms including anxiety, brain fog, body pain, and weight changes • Why symptom tracking can be a powerful tool for understanding what is happening in your body • The three main approaches women can explore for support including hormonal, non hormonal, and lifestyle options • The importance of thinking about both immediate symptom relief and long term health
A Few Powerful Takeaways One of the most important reminders Dana shares is simple but profound.
It is not your fault.
Many women blame themselves when their body begins to change. They assume they are not trying hard enough, eating well enough, exercising enough, or managing stress well enough.
But perimenopause is a biological transition driven by hormonal shifts. Understanding what is happening can remove the shame and open the door to real support.
Another key insight is the importance of curiosity and self-advocacy. Asking questions, exploring options, and building a healthcare team that listens can completely change a woman's experience during midlife.
Resources Mentioned Dana offers a perimenopause quiz on her website that can help women begin identifying whether their symptoms might be connected to hormonal changes.
She also shares educational resources and workshops designed to help women better understand midlife health.

I love this episode, we talk about how midlife has a way of pulling the rug out from under the body you thought you knew. Energy shifts, sleep disappears, workouts stop working, emotions feel louder. And suddenly you're wondering when you became someone you don't recognize.
I sit down with Heike Yates, a midlife health, fitness, and sports nutrition coach with nearly 40 years of experience, to talk about what's actually happening in the body during perimenopause and menopause and how women can meet this season with compassion instead of self-blame.
This conversation is practical, validating, and refreshingly honest. It's about working with your changing body, not fighting it. It's about nervous system support, realistic movement, medical advocacy, and redefining identity when the old rules stop working.
Welcome to the new body era.
In This Episode, We Explore
• Why perimenopause and menopause are not a crisis but a transition • How hormonal shifts impact energy, sleep, mood, inflammation, and belly fat • When exhaustion and symptoms signal it's time to seek medical support • Why bloodwork and the right doctor matter more than pushing through • Building a personal wellness team that actually supports you • Exercise mistakes women make in midlife and what works better instead • Nervous system friendly movement, rest, breathing, and recovery • Energy drainers, energy givers, and how to protect what little energy you have • Internal boundaries and why "just say no" isn't the whole story • The grief and confusion of not feeling like yourself anymore • Reframing midlife as a rebirth and an opportunity to redefine who you are now

In this episode of Burn the Rulebook Menopause Series, Misty sits down with Kelly from The Purple Olive, a yoga practitioner, Reiki master, and soul art journey guide. Kelly shares her real life perimenopause experience, the bizarre symptoms no one warned us about, and why the silence around menopause is pure nonsense.
They talk about the cultural shame of aging, the "maid, mother, crone" lens, emotional curveballs like rage over chewing, and the nervous system basics that actually help when you feel like you might cry in the toothpaste aisle. The big message: you are not broken, you are not alone, and you are allowed to take up space.
What you'll hear in this episode • Kelly's path from high stress work to yoga, Reiki, and community led healing • Perimenopause symptoms that feel weird and isolating, plus why we need to talk about them • Menopause and the shame gap: why society acts like women are not allowed to age • Maid, mother, crone: the reframe that turns "getting older" into getting wiser • Frozen shoulder as a menopause symptom and what women are noticing in their bodies • Emotional waves: tears, rage, irritability, and how to meet it without self judgement • Grounding practices that are simple enough for real life, not fantasy life • Advocating with healthcare providers and building a personal wellness team • The reminder every woman needs: you are not alone

Welcome to Episode #1 of the Burn the Rulebook Menopause Series a six month conversation series with women sharing lived experience and expert guidance. No fluff, no dismissal, no pretending this is just "part of getting older." We are here for truth, choice, and heart-centred leadership in the middle of real life.
New episodes drop the second Tuesday of every month starting January 2026.
Menopause is not a personality flaw. It is a hormonal transition that deserves real information, real support, and way less shame.
In this episode, Misty sits down with MaryEllen, a post-menopausal woman, registered massage therapist, holistic nutrition practitioner, multi discipline yoga teacher, and certified menopause coach.
MaryEllen shares how her own journey cracked open after a hysterectomy and a cross Canada cycling goal that suddenly felt impossible. What looked like burnout was actually menopause. From there, she did what most of us end up doing. She educated herself so she could finally feel heard, then she started helping other women do the same.
You will hear an honest conversation about symptoms that get ignored, the medical dismissals women face, how estrogen impacts inflammation and pain, why sleep matters more than your grind culture brain wants to admit, and how to advocate for yourself without needing a PhD or a TikTok degree.
Perimenopause, menopause, post menopause and what the timeline actually looks like Why menopause is one day and the transition can span years. The myth that suffering is just "normal" in midlife. How estrogen changes can drive inflammation and musculoskeletal pain Frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis and other "itis" surprises. Painful sex, vaginal dryness, and why shame keeps women silent. Mental health, mood shifts, rage spikes, and emotional sensitivity, Why sleep gets wrecked and what that ripple effect feels like. Lifestyle changes that actually support the nervous system. What women can say to advocate with healthcare providers. Why hormones and protocols are not one size fits all. How small changes, done consistently, create the biggest shifts

Welcome! I’m so excited to be sharing another solo episode.
This week I’m exploring the power of our thoughts.
During this episode, I talk about how we’re not our thoughts and yet our thoughts can create a reality. So how do we overcome the power of the thoughts?
I explore how we have two layers of thoughts and how our thoughts are programmed and the great news is we can reprogram them.
Ohhh and we talk about the inner critic and ways it’s triggered so we can start changing and reprogram the negative self-talk.
During this episode, there is also an opportunity to explore your inner critic's personality. I share with you some common types and just becoming aware and familiar with how your inner critic shows up is the opportunity for you to begin the reprogramming.
And finally, we wrap this episode with some tips on understanding your thoughts and how to create the shift.
As I always say everything in life is practice and this retraining our brain to recognize your thoughts is no different.

I'm excited to share a solo episode today .
This week I explore the power of awareness and share my insights into how tapping into our awareness is key to unlocking the change we've been seeking.
Sounds simple, right? The funny thing about simple is that it's not always easy and yet so worth doing. I've learned making subtle changes in life makes the biggest impact.
Today we explore how when we start to become aware of our thoughts, patterns and behaviours it can be intimidating to make a change because it's what we've known and then figuring out the next steps seems impossible.
I share in this episode how when we slow it down and really become aware of our thoughts or actions or behaviours we get take dominion over our lives again. We're no longer on autopilot and we get to choose what is in our greatest and highest good and really start to identify what is holding us back.
This week you will get some tips on how to strengthen your awareness and be able to make the shift to bring about the change you're seeking.
I'd love for you to take a listen and let me know your thoughts.
Thanks for tuning in.

It’s here my friend, episode #1 of Empower, Uplift & Transform with Misty Podcast! I'm beyond excited and let’s face it also a little terrified….the reality is if I’m not a little bit scared I question if it is worth doing. Those scary tingles in my stomach, my racing mind all adds to up to nervous excitement of sharing my gifts with the world.
As Gabby Bernstein said in a workshop I attended: It is my responsibility to share my great work with the world!
And here I am stepping into my power and sharing my work with the world. Work that is so worth doing and sharing!!
I thought long and hard what is the first episode to be and I checked out all my favourite podcasts and then I got quiet and realized this is my show and my creation so what feels aligned with me. The answer that arose was connecting with the listeners, that’s you, and sharing my story.
In this episode I share where I’ve come from, how I got here and some of the most pivotal experiences I’ve had in my life so far. The most important thing I share is my WHY, the reason I’m doing this, my intention, my passion and my dharma.
I can't wait for us to get to know each other, build community and create sacred space for women together in order to empower, uplift and transform each other's lives.

This week is a great one on Empower, Uplift & Transform with Misty! I’m excited to share Episode 2 with you The Magic of Mindfulness with special guest: Mahara Wayman. Mahara Wayman is the Chief Gratitude Officer and Founder of Mindfulness with Mahara. She is an author, motivational speaker and empowerment coach passionate about helping women find clarity on their purpose and yearnings so they can realign their actions with their goals, dreams and values. Mahara helps them step into joy and peace, so they flourish in their new season through focused conversations, robust self-reflection, and an online group coaching program.
Mahara shares she is proof that it’s possible to find happiness after a significant transition. She shares how she left her corporate career, and knows firsthand how confusing it is when the role identified with for years is no longer there.
After years in her chosen profession, supporting others in transforming their lives, she was suddenly in her new season. She realized then she was missing something and decided to jump-start her new life outside of the identity she had connected with for so long. Mahara was determined to create her dream life, one that spoke to her and filled her cup. She took control of her life and rewrote her story from the inside out. She shares how she used her years of experience, knowledge and powerful techniques to help women find happiness in their retirement and move from the story they have been stuck in to live the story they love.
Mahara joined me this week and shared glimpse into her life's work and how she supports women and helps them see how beautiful they are exactly. Mahara also shares the magic of mindfulness and what that means to her. She shares that mindfulness is about acceptance that it's ok to be still. Mahara explains how stillness is this opportunity to tune and an explore all of our senses. Mahara explores with us that if we’re pretending who we are then our actions are based on pretending and we continue to draw ourselves further and further away from our true selves. Her wisdom goes even deeper when she talks about the monkey brain and how it keeps playing these recurring messages and how mindfulness is a huge ingredient is slowing it down.
