After classes resumed in early February UMass saw its largest spike in positive COVID-19 cases to date with over 600 new cases in the span of two weeks, largely due to social gatherings that broke COVID-19 rules and guidelines. The fallout from the massive increase was felt in a multitude of ways including a self-sequester period, UMass students losing access to their jobs, systematic failures, among others issues.
