Welcome to the Room Upstairs, where we take a look at two films (the original and the reboot) and pit them against one another in multiple aspects, including (though never limited to) directing, acting, composing, and...whatever else a movie is made of. But before the main event, make sure to listen in on the Under Cards, where we talk about new releases, trailers, rumors, and other nonsense we enjoy for some reason.
Joined today by friend of the podcast Hayden, hosts Bird, TallBeing and Mephisjoe take a deep dive into the Planet of the Apes franchise after binging most of the movies. From the 1968 cult-classic that started it all to the latest theatrical release, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the Room Upstairs is full of appreciation for an under-represented franchise today!

Was the movie good? Short answer: no. But it makes for an entertaining read on Wikipedia.

In today's episode, hosts Bird and TallBeing find themselves without their usual third member and must fill that void by talking about the masterpiece that is Judge Dredd (1995) starring Sylvester Stallone. They also talk about the Carl Urban one, but nobody cares about that.
Today's Under Cards include a bit of talk about the first half of Loki Season 2, and Lorne Balfe vs. Daniel Pemberton.
In today's episode hosts Bird, TallBeing and Mephisjoe talk about the original fighting game adaptation and it's newer reboot, pitting them against one another while somehow make too few jokes about them being battled. Maybe next time.
Also included is the fight between Bill Conti and Mark Mothersbaugh, as well as a massive victory in the writer's strike.

Today's episode of The Room Upstairs has Bird, TallBeing and Mephisjoe finally talking about the latest of DC's movies and comparing the two, with a complete disregard for the fact that Aquaman 2 is still supposed to come out. They also talk about the Dune: Part 2 delay, the hype surrounding Netflix's original Daredevil show, and the opening three episodes of Ahsoka.
The Under Card of the day is Nicholas Britell vs. Michael Giacchino, TallBeing's two favorite composers, but of which only one will be moving forward in the tournament. Listen in to find out who!
In today's episode of The Room Upstairs, hosts Bird, Tallbeing and Mephisjoe battle the two Disney adaptations of The Jungle Book...except one of them hasn't seen the remake. They also battle out Brian Tyler and Christophe Beck in today's mini-battle, and talk about a few of the movies they've seen recently, such as Barbie, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. They were all good.
In today's episode, hosts Bird, Tallbeing and Mephisjoe take aim at the new cast members of Superman: Legacy and offer some thoughts on that, before also talking about a host of new trailers for Dune Part II, Wonka, Godzilla: Minus One, and Ahsoka. There may also be revelations concerning the origins of TallBeing's name, but you'll have to listen to find out.
The Under Card battle of the day is Toby Fox, composer and creator of the indie game Undertale, versus James Newton-Howard, who composed a noticeably larger number of projects.
Long delayed by other developments, hosts Bird, TallBeing and Mephisjoe have at last been able to sit down for a conversation and debate over The Magnificent Seven (1960) and The Magnificent Seven (2016). It would be a real shame if something happened where they didn't talk about it.
Joined by special guests of the Beta Report podcast, hosts Bird, TallBeing and Mephisjoe talk about a variety of topics, ranging from the upcoming summer blockbusters, another return to the absolute marvel that is Aross the Spider-Verse, and a Mario game where you can play as an elephant. Normal stuff.
Today's Under Card is a battle between James Horner and Ludwig Goransson, with a hearty debate between which of the two composers deserves a spot on the second bracket. Who are you voting for?
In a somewhat timely fashion, at least compared to their other episodes, host Bird, TallBeing and Mephisjoe compare the original cinematic take on the mushroom eating video game hero with the latest animated version, and unfortunately they forget that the Super Mario Bros. Super Show perfected both the live action and cartoon versions of the character.
Today's Undercard is a battle between composers Henry Jackman and Koji Kondo, which is ironic considering the main event.
On today's episode of The Room Upstairs, hosts Bird and TallBeing are joined by a special guest in hip-hop artist Dre Murray, who's here to talk about new trailers for TMNT: Mutant Mayhem and The Flash before going into a full dive of the animated sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Also a bunch of stuff about Star Wars television, because we think it's interesting.

Special guest mephisjoe joins co-hosts Bird and TallBeing (now an amateur rapper) for a very important episode: the one-year anniversary of The Room Upstairs! To celebrate, the group takes a stab at the sequels to the Ninja Turtles movies, and it's just their luck that it gets recorded mere days before the new Seth Rogen-produced film gets a trailer.
