Have you ever considered what happens when ordinary people choose to love and obey God? This week, Karl Romeus takes a look into what happens when ordinary people take on extraordinary roles by choosing to obey God's plan for their lives. Derek Redmond’s story from the 1992 Olympics gives us a glimpse into unexpected heroism. But what if we extended this love and compassion beyond our immediate family to strangers and even enemies? The transformation of Saul to Paul in Acts Chapter 9 is a powerful example of how an ordinary man, Ananias, played a crucial role in God’s plan. Paul’s journey from a persecutor to an apostle shows that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. By embracing obedience, courage, and compassion, we, too, can become vision carriers, helping others experience God’s grace. Discover how you can be part of this incredible journey and impact those around you. Who is your Paul? Your obedience could change their life forever. Watch now to find out how!
Ever felt like you’re on the outside? What if that's exactly where Jesus wants you? This week, Ben Foote takes a deep dive into Acts 8 and talks about how early Christians found common ground with those vastly different from them. Despite deep cultural divides, they connected with others through a shared hunger for healing. Learn how we can bridge our modern divides by understanding our own brokenness and extending grace to those who feel far from it. Let's explore what it truly means to be Jesus-followers in a divided world and how to make disciples in our current times.
Do you ever feel like your kids are speaking a different language? As a dad of four, Jesse has been there, trying to decode teenage slang to connect with them. But it's not just our families where we feel disconnected—it's society at large. We set up dividing lines: Democrat or Republican, Boomer or Millennial, Trucks or Hybrids. This message explores how Jesus' mission was about breaking these barriers and embracing unity amidst diversity. Jesse dives into the book of Acts, where the early church navigated through conflicts and tribalism to spread the good news. Let’s discover how we can apply these lessons today, ensuring no one feels like an outsider, and how leaders are called to make sacrifices for the sake of unity and inclusion.
Have you ever wondered what gifts God has given you to make a difference in the world? In this final message of our Alive series, we reflect on the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit and how it transformed Peter and the early Christians. Just as they were filled and empowered, we too are called to embrace our spiritual gifts. What is your story? How has Jesus changed your life? Learn how to identify and use your unique gifts to serve others and glorify God. Join us as we explore the journey from transformation to action and discover how to live out our faith in meaningful ways.
What do you carry in your spiritual survival bag? Jim explores how Christians need more than just faith; they need the right tools for an abundant life, as promised by Jesus. In this message, Jim dives into the true purpose of following Jesus – becoming like Him. He contrasts the fruits of the flesh with the fruits of the Spirit, showing how true followers naturally exhibit Jesus' character traits. Join us on this journey of transformation, understanding how God uses trials to shape us into His image.
Struggling with the relentless pace of life? You're not alone. Many of us feel overwhelmed and disconnected from what truly matters. This sermon unveils the biblical secret to not just surviving, but thriving through the spiritual discipline of Sabbath. Tune in to discover how taking time to rest can transform your life, reconnect you with God’s purpose, and rejuvenate your spirit. Join us to learn how to truly rest in a restless world.
How can we really grow strong in our faith? In our latest message, inspired by the survival show "Alone," Ben Foote talks about the importance of spiritual tools. He explains that worship is more than just singing songs; it's really about listening to God every day and doing what He asks. Just like an axe is crucial in a survival situation for building and staying warm, worship is just as important in our spiritual lives. It helps us stay close to Jesus and makes our faith strong, so we can truly thrive as followers of God.
How important is prayer when we're trying to live a good life following Jesus? In our fourth week of our "ALIVE" series, Jim talks about prayer as if it's a radio that lets us talk and listen to God. He explains that prayer isn't just about asking for things; it's more about having a real conversation with God that helps us grow closer to Him. Jim says that prayer helps us line up our wants with what God wants, which changes us on the inside more than it changes the things around us. He reminds us that to really live well, we need to pray every day, like keeping in touch with a friend and also rely on God’s Spirit and His words in the Bible to guide us.
In this series, Ben explores how new believers, like contestants on the reality show "Alone," face the challenge of sustaining their faith in isolation. He draws parallels between the survival tools used on the show and the spiritual essentials needed for believers to thrive. Ben emphasizes the Holy Spirit as an empowering presence that enhances all spiritual tools, not merely as another item to use. He highlights the Bible's crucial role in building a solid spiritual foundation, akin to a durable shelter, helping believers move beyond survival to achieve the abundant life Jesus promised. This series aims to equip Christians of all stages to feel supported and thrive in their faith journeys.
Ever wondered about the Holy Spirit's role in your life? In this message, Jesse tackled that exact question, explaining that the Holy Spirit isn’t just for a few but for everyone. He emphasizes how the Holy Spirit empowers, encourages, gives gifts, guides, and intercedes for Christians. The practical and spiritual implications of engaging with the Holy Spirit highlight its significance in everyday life and faith practice. Jesse looks at both personal, spiritual, and scriptural references to illustrate these roles, encouraging us to actively invite the Holy Spirit into our lives.
What does it mean to continue growing in faith, especially after significant spiritual milestones like baptism? This week marks the beginning of an 8-week series Called "Alive," where we'll tackle the question of how to continue your faith journey and the "tools you'll need. This week, Jim will examine the challenges both new and seasoned believers face when feeling lost or stagnant in their faith journey. Central to the series is Jesus' post-resurrection life, emphasizing His instructions about the Holy Spirit’s empowering role and the global spread of His message. It draws parallels with the survival show 'Alone,' using it as a metaphor to equip believers with spiritual strategies for a thriving faith journey centered around vision, intent, and strategy.
Is Easter about more than just a miracle? Highlighting the resurrection of Jesus the message emphasized that it's not just about Jesus' triumph over death, but a validation of all his teachings and promises. Through stories like the humorous dilemma of a man in Israel and the paralytic man's friends in Mark 2, it illustrated how we often overlook our spiritual needs, focusing on immediate problems. The crucifixion story, especially the conversation with the two other men on the crosses, shows that anyone, regardless of their past, can find hope and salvation in Jesus. This celebration of Easter urges a re-evaluation of life's challenges, prioritizing spiritual fulfillment and eternal promises.
Ever thought about how being thankful and loving can change your life? In our fourth week of Death to Religion, Jim explores the power of God's grace and following Him. He talks about the Last Supper and Jesus’ key rules: love God completely and love others as you love yourself. Jim shows why these two loves are so important in our beliefs. He stresses the need to live by these teachings as we wait for Jesus' return, sharing his own experiences and work helping others. This message encourages us to help and care for those in need, showing our love for God through how we treat others.
Are you prepared to transform your perspective on faith? In today's message, Ben guides us through the final weeks of Jesus’ life, focusing on the events where Jesus curses a barren fig tree and then purifies the Temple in Jerusalem. These actions, are not just historical accounts but powerful metaphors challenging our conventional views on life, faith, and religion. He emphasizes that these narratives critique empty religious practices and the exclusion of others from faith communities. Ben's message is a call for us to embrace an inclusive, welcoming approach to our faith, one that aligns with Jesus' teachings of hope, love, and inclusivity for all, especially those who feel like outsiders. This transformation, as Ben suggests, starts within our own hearts and extends to our broader faith community.
Ever wrestled with the concept of forgiveness, especially when it feels impossible? In our series "Death to Religion," we explore Jesus's path to the cross and His transformative teachings on forgiveness, as exemplified by the Parable of the Unmerciful Servant in Matthew 18. This sermon encourages us to release resentment and embrace the freedom that comes with forgiveness for our own peace. Consider who in your life you can forgive for your personal liberation. For weekly snippets about upcoming messages, text "Next" to 80857
Have you ever considered the true purpose of religion? This marks the first message of our "Death to Religion" series. In this message, Jim explores humanity's early rebellions and how these events, while disruptive, could not thwart God's ultimate plan. This message reveals the role of religion as a temporary measure before Jesus's coming. It emphasizes Jesus's mission, which goes beyond teaching or healing, focusing on his death and resurrection as a sacrifice for our sins. This act wasn't just for forgiveness but to transform hearts and minds, uniting us under a new kingdom. Discover how Jesus's life, death, and resurrection offer us a way to true relationship with God, replacing religious practice with deep, meaningful connection.
In the final message of our "Branded" series, we explore the crucial role of money in demonstrating our faith and trust in Jesus. Just as a brand signifies ownership in cattle, our financial stewardship marks us as followers of Christ. Today's focus is on the fourth principle, "Watch Out For Outlaws," highlighting the need to guard against anything that may compromise our financial integrity and faith journey. Drawing parallels between the dangers in the wild west and the financial temptations of today, we dive into the Ten Commandments from Exodus 20, reinterpreting them as guidelines for financial wisdom. These commandments are not conditions for God's love but confirmations of it, guiding us to live lives of gratitude, worship, and wise stewardship. By aligning our financial practices with these biblical principles, we can navigate our 'new land' of financial responsibility and avoid the pitfalls that threaten our spiritual and financial well-being.
Are you ready to redefine your relationship with money in a way that aligns with God’s purpose? This week's message takes us on a journey through biblical truths about financial stewardship, emphasizing that our approach to money affects much more than our finances—it impacts our relationships, jobs, and families. We dive into 2 Corinthians, where Paul teaches us about giving as both a test and a trade of faith, challenging us to embrace stewardship, first fruits, and generous giving as key components of our Christian walk. Jesse's message is a call to action, inviting us to take bold steps towards generosity and to live a life of fulfillment, just as Jesus taught us.
How does your faith shape your financial choices? In the second week of our 'Branded' series, 'First Things First,' we dive into this question, exploring the connection between faith and finance. We discuss the importance of stewardship and generosity and how prioritizing God leads to an ordered life. Learn about the biblical perspective on tithing as an expression of gratitude and faith, and understand how our financial decisions reflect our trust in God.
Are you living by a code that leads to a truly abundant life? In the kickoff to our 'Branded' series, we dive into the similarities between the rugged 'cowboy way of life' and the journey of walking with Jesus. This week, Jim unveils four pivotal principles set to transform your life: embracing Stewardship over Ownership, putting God First, understanding the Law of Sowing and Reaping, and being Alert to Spiritual Outlaws. This impactful sermon invites us to introspectively examine our lives, especially our approach to finances and resources, challenging us to align more closely with the cowboy code of ethics and values.
Reflection time: are you unintentionally contributing to a negative church perception? In our fourth and final week of the Upside Down series, Pastor Ben redefines the Kingdom of Heaven, breaking conventional expectations. Exploring the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12, Ben unveils the true essence of each characteristic in a Christ-centered life, exposing how the enemy distorts the genuine nature of living in the Kingdom of God. Ben calls us to self-reflection, warns against misinterpreting Christian values, and calls for repentance. The focus is on embracing countercultural qualities like meekness, mercy, and resilience, urging a collective mindset shift. He showcases our goal to embody the symbolic salt and light, attracting others to the transformative Kingdom of Heaven through authenticity.
Do you let your comfort zone depict who Jesus is calling you to disciple with? Embark on the third week of the "Upside Down" series with Pastor Jesse as he leads us through the disciples Jesus chose in order to radically change the world. Explore the message about Jesus and discover how he looks beyond appearances, social status, and political views, loving unconditionally. Learn about the importance of diverse friendships and the choices involved in wholeheartedly following Jesus.
Do you ever feel as if no one understands your struggles? Jesus knows what we go through because He faced the same challenges. Pastor Jim talks about the temptations Jesus faced in the wilderness, connecting them to our own struggles. He talks about how it's important to trust God and shares how Jesus did it. The message reminds us to say no to things that seem good but are actually tricks, to be strong as God's children, and to deal with life's tough parts. We invite you to join in and learn valuable lessons for a happy life.
Have you ever thought, "Is Jesus necessary?" In this impactful message, Pastor Jim looks into the deeper meaning of Jesus' baptism and the beginning of God's Kingdom. Join us for this interesting sermon, and let's take a step toward a more meaningful spiritual journey together.
Today we are going to look at one of the weirdest least talked about five verses in the Bible. But let's be honest, historically, if it’s weird or doesn’t make sense, the church usually skips over it or avoids it. But if we study these verses in the historical context we believe it will explain what is happening not just in the Bible but what is happening in our world today.
Have you ever wondered why there's so much pain and evil in our world? Or maybe even why we struggle to make the right choices in our own lives? Today, we're going back to the beginning of Scripture, exploring the story of Adam and Eve, and looking at how this ancient story applies to our lives in the here and now.

Ever wondered why people used to make statues and idols to worship their gods, while the Bible says we're made in God's image? Jim explores the idea that God's in us and we don't need fancy statues. Instead, it's about living like Jesus – being kind, loving, and treating others well. So, what if we all started looking at the people around us like they are the image bearers of God.
Have you ever wondered what Jesus was up to before we read about Him in Bethlehem? Today Jim uncovers multiple moments when Jesus made appearances in the Old Testament and it's not what you think. Why does this matter to us? Because Jesus is so much bigger than what we've reduced Him down to.

When most people think “spiritual warfare,” they jump to the sexy Hollywood images like Ghost Busters. Normally, we imagine holding up crosses and shouting at demons and exorcisms. While most of us will never be called upon to do that, every one of us has been commanded to enlist in the spiritual warfare of the Great Commission. In today's message, Jim will challenge us to get serious about the fight we're in by taking steps toward evangelism and generosity.
People haven’t been leaving the church because of what Christians believe. They’ve been leaving in droves because of HOW they've been treated. They haven’t seen the fruit of the Spirit in Christians, and so they gave up on Christ. What if our communities knew Flatirons was a beacon of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in a world where people are starving for that kind of fruit?

Doubt and faith are not mutually exclusive. Doubt is simply part of the faith journey, Jesus knows that and he’s strong enough to handle it. He will love you in the midst of your doubt.

Even though it’s gonna take the rest of our lives, we're confident that he who began a good work in us WILL carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Let’s keep chasing after the stuff Jesus is teaching us.
Very few of our biggest mistakes and regrets started with the goal of blowing up our lives. How many of our biggest regrets started with "I’m just going to do this one time," and now it's taken on a life of its own? We told ourselves that we wanted to have it; now, it has us. We're humans too, we get it, but the good news is we can prevent this from happening again as we put the pieces back together. Today Jim will walk us through Proverbs as we look at wise ways to approach sin and temptations and set ourselves up to experience fewer regrets and mistakes.
Through a very flawed system and through very flawed people, God is still able to do and accomplish all that he sets out to do.
Learn to use your words wisely. We're called to bring healing and blessings to others and avoid using our words to divide or promote ourselves. Confidently use our words to empower and encourage others.
Oftentimes the things we want the most, we end up spending the least amount of time on because we're distracted. As we dig into Proverbs today, be thinking about what's distracting you.
The greatest threat to Christianity today is Hypocrisy. All of us are broken people, trying and working to line our lives up with what God says is right and true, and best. And while the purpose of the hospital is to help heal the sick, if the people in the hospital aren’t trying to heal and get better, that’s not a hospital. That’s hospice. If we are not actively letting God heal us and working on it—then it’s going to hurt us, it’s going to hurt the next generation, it’s going to hurt the church, and ultimately that hurts the world.
What does it really mean to love Jesus?
In today's message, you will gain insight into the biblical story of Peter and his denial of Jesus and learn how he found forgiveness and restoration through his faith. At some point, we all experience confusion or uncertainty in life, whether it's because of our own decisions or uncontrollable events. This talk is essential viewing for individuals who want direction and motivation in their pursuit of discovering their authentic path.
Have you ever felt like an outcast, judged, or unwanted? One thing Jesus was criticized for was befriending people that culture wanted nothing to do with. Today we will explore why Jesus constantly chose to befriend "sinners" and how this applies to our lives. If you've ever felt lost, broken, or need grace, we have good news for you today.
In 2023 it seems like the world is more divided than ever. But Jesus is clear that we are commanded to love and serve others, regardless of differing perspectives, opinions, and voting histories. Today Ben Foote will lead us through scripture that warns against giving lip service to Jesus without following through with acts of love and service, and reminds us that loving others is an indicator that their faith is truly alive and real.
What would your life look like if you had someone leading you who wanted you to actually experience a fulfilling life? In our new series called What The Flock, Jim explains that we all need a leader who can guide us through difficult times and restore our souls and that Jesus can be that leader. Jesus compares himself to a good shepherd who knows his sheep by name and lays down his life for them.
Not all things that claim to be true are really true. This week, Jim will teach us how abiding by what Jesus says is true will set us free from things in the past that were not true and lead us to a life we were created to live.
Forgiving others doesn't mean we have to minimize what's been done to us or the hurt we've experienced. But unforgiveness is keeping us imprisoned.
If we have faith, then, how are we supposed to live? This week Ben is inviting us to take a look at some of the tensions that come with taking this journey of faith.
When we start to experience abundance, our natural inclination is to think that we’re the cause of it. Join us for week 1 as Jesse DeYoung starts off our new series called Cause and Effect.
God is calling us all into a bigger story than we could ever imagine. Jim Burgen shows us that while it might be hard to see from here, we have to trust that God will connect the dots in the end.
God will never direct you to sin in order to accomplish what He wants to be done in the world. He will never ask you to “pull anything off” or do anything out of your own strength, understanding, or hard work. He simply commands you to follow Him and obey Him. And whatever God commands you to do, He will also give you the needed resources to do it, or He won’t command it.
Faith always means you have to move. In order for things to change, you can’t stay where you currently are. You have to let go of what you had planned and take hold of what God says to do.
Sometimes the word faith can feel like just another cliche word our mom's decorate their homes with. So today we're digging into what it really mean to have "faith" and how it should impact our lives.
God never promises an easy life, but He does promise an incredible journey ahead to becoming who He designed us to be.

When we look at our past, we see failures. When we look toward our future, we feel fear. But God is telling us to change our perspective. When we look at our past, we should see the wonders he’s done in our lives. When we look toward our future, we should feel HOPE.
You don't need to try to clean up your life to do life with Jesus. Just follow Jesus, and if anything needs to change, he’ll show you what that is, and you’ll agree with him, and together, you’ll do what needs to be done…together.
Jesus never told us to save the world. He just told us to bring his light into it. In "Light Up The Darkness" we learn how God is going to use us to bring hope to the hopeless.

Join us for week 4 of True North, where Ben Foote is back teaching about how God responds when bad things happen to good people, or when justice isn't being served the way we think it ought to. It's probably not what you think.
How we are to respond if our Nations laws conflict with God's laws? Jim Burgen teaches on the purpose of God's laws and what life looks like when we pledge allegiance to Jesus over the Nation we live in.
Join us for week 2 of True North, where Jim answers the question, what is God building, and how do we get to be a part of it? What God has next for you is better than you could ever imagine, but to experience it, you have to be willing to say yes. Keep watching if you’re curious about what God is inviting you to be a part of and how it could change the world around you.
This week we introduce a brand new series called True North, where Jim Burgen leads us through 1 Peter 2 and discusses the one thing we need to do to grow up in our faith.
If you’re full of questions, wrestling with your doubts, in the middle of deconstructing the faith of your childhood, or don’t believe any of this faith stuff, we’re glad you’re here; you’re welcome here, and you can belong before you believe.
People call God "good," but how do we know if that's true? Today we'll be digging into that question as Ben Foote leads us through the book of Romans.
Have you ever wondered what makes Christians different than everyone else? We’re all human and we all go through struggles, but sometimes it can feel like people who claim to follow Jesus are just hypocrites. We’re diving back into 1 Peter and we’ll hear from Jim as he teaches us what living like a follower of Jesus actually looks like.
Let’s be honest; sometimes life sucks. We experience trials and hardship, but what if those hard seasons weren’t totally pointless? As painful and horrible and heavy and sad as it is, hardship can also reveal and cause us to hold onto our hope in Jesus Christ. When everything else in this world shifts, Jesus won’t. In “Life Involves Suffering” Jim Burgen teaches how to hold onto hope in the midst of hardship.
It makes no difference to the world what you claim to believe about Jesus if it doesn’t lead to following Jesus in your daily life. Belief without following is irrelevant. In “More Than Forgiven” Jim Burgen teaches why aligning our lives with Jesus is better than just being forgiven.
Bring the awesome life of Christ to people in a lost and broken world; this is the mission of Flatirons Church led by Jim Burgen and based in Lafayette, CO with multiple locations in Colorado and online.
Technology is an opportunity, and we don’t have to treat it like the enemy. When there’s a technological advance, there’s an opportunity for the gospel. Are we ready to use that real opportunity in front of us because of what we have in our pockets?
Sometimes when a conversation about technology comes up, it’s often in a damning way. But, maybe we should look at technology through “spiderman” theology, “with great power comes great responsibility.”
Home is the place where you belong because the Father says so and he’s made room for you. It’s what we’re born longing for, what we’ve spent our lives seeking. It’s what we’ve been trying to gain through things like sex, money, achievement, addictions, buying cars and building houses isn’t found down any of those roads. The only way home to the Father is through Jesus.
If we want REAL peace in the midst of the craziness, we must follow Jesus' lead. Join us as teaching pastor, Ben Foote, unpacks what it means to be still and know that God is good.
In "Analog Christian," Pastor Jay Kim teaches us that our relationship with technology could be getting in the way of living an abundant life and how to stay in step with the spirit in today's digital world.
Fathers have been entrusted with an incredibly sacred gift: their children, and the unique part they play in raising them well. Join us this Father's Day as Jesse dives into how we can bless our families.
What if Jesus wants to use you to teach the world how to endure hardship with hope? Join us as we dive into how to keep hope alive in an ever-changing world.
Jesus’ influence did not come from winning arguments, but from being a voice of hope to the hopeless, and our calling is to imitate His ways. This is how we are called to change the world.
Is money, sex, and power ruling your life? We need to constantly be reviewing and examining our lives to see if, and how, our faith is making a difference in our daily lives, and doing so in a way that lines up with Jesus being our true Lord and King.
God doesn’t call the qualified, God qualifies the called. Join us as we dive into how God is using us, to impact the future of the Gospel and the future of our next generation of leaders.
Join us as Karl, our next-gen executive pastor, unpacks how we are never too far gone that Jesus can't make a difference.
Join us as we unpack how people of faith should NOT keep their faith separate from their politics.
What cheap Jesus have you bought: follow the rules, or do whatever you want? Join us as teaching pastor, Ben Foote, challenges us to reject these distorted versions of Jesus, and replace them with Who the Bible says He is: the God of truth and grace.
We are sold thousands of different versions of Jesus- but who is Jesus really? Join us as Pastor Ben’s pushes us to challenge our old mindset by listening to Who Jesus says He is: Jesus is the King Who calls us a friend.
Rather than continuing to revisit our past mistakes, we can die to them and begin a whole new life. Join us for Easter service as we push pause on the condemnation tapes playing in our heads, and remember this: God's love and grace are greater than our disgrace.
Grace that comes from Jesus can meet us in a moment of truth to remind us of what we need to live more abundantly.
When what you had going on gets interrupted, is it possible that God is trying to get your attention, to redirect you toward a better way of life? Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen, challenges us to focus on finding our way to the heart of God’s truth through obedience.
How does God teach us that His truth really is true, that it is a better way, and that it leads to a better life? Join us as Pastor Jim Burgen unpacks what would happen if we let Jesus interrupt our lives.
You’re going to fear something in this life - so why not fear God? Join us as our teaching pastor, Ben Foote, dives into the story of Noah.
Your competence, plus godly confidence, equals dominance. Join us as guest teacher, Mikkal Harris, dives into David and Goliath.
What if God is actually waiting on you to act and to obey what He has told you to do? Faith must lead to active obedience.
God desires us to humble ourselves before Him because He knows the alternative to humility is humiliation.
If faith cannot be based on what God may or may not do in your circumstances, then what even is faith? Join us as we unpack where life-changing Faith comes from.
If you have found the answer to everything you’ve been waiting, hoping, and looking for in Jesus, then it’s time to challenge your friends to Come and See Jesus for themselves.
Every day we have opportunities to use our spiritual gifts, resources, passions, and creativity to create excellent environments, that eliminate any and all obstacles so that people have the best opportunity to bump into Jesus. So that He can do what only He can do.
What would it take to let God radically change your life? Join us as we walk through what spiritual formation is, and how we can start inviting God to change us every day.
No matter who you are or what you’ve done, God still loves you. And He wants a relationship with you.
What might your life be, look, and feel like if you lined up with what Jesus says is better?
This weekensd guest speaker Steve Carter has us ask ourselves: Are We Running The Right Race?
We take a look at who we are as a church, what we have been doing, and where we would like to be going.
Join us as we unpack the what behind the Christmas story. If we know why Christmas is important, how does that changes us from now on?
Join us as we unpack the what behind the Christmas story. If we know why Christmas is important, how does that changes us from now on?
The Christmas story is God’s redemption plan for humanity. Jesus came to earth as Immanuel (meaning God with us).
What would it look like for all your life to be for Jesus? Join us as we look at what it means to give all our ambitions, hopes, and plans to Jesus.
Paul teaches us that God intended and designed sex to be something much more. Sex is the imaging of two people becoming one new thing.
Kings go to war to fight for those that they love. Jesus, the king of kings went to war for you, so that you can reign with God over your kingdom once again. Are you ready to go to war with the king of kings to win back the broken parts of your life?
We take a look at who we are, why we are here, and how we are to live our lives. Being made in God's image, our purpose is to reflect Him and His nature.
Our actions are saying that we’ve already given up, but Jesus wants us healed and whole.
With the 35 day challenge coming to an end, we remember that day 35 is not a finish line but the start of a whole new way of living closer to God.
This weekend we look at the parable of the wise and foolish builders. Jesus said that one approach to life leads to destruction, and the other leads to a stormproof existence. How do we build our lives on a foundation that leads to a stormproof life?
Even at the moment when Jesus was being crucified, He stood up under the weight and he continued to serve people around him.
For the 35 day challenge, we've been praying daily for three things daily: what are you thankful for, what you need from God, and what someone else needs from God. Why do we pray? Because prayer doesn't change God, but prayer changes us.
What would happen if we chose life changing sacrifice? Join us as we challenge ourselves to point our limited time and resources in the direction of something that cultivates value that lasts beyond this life.
What would it take to keep going spiritually when your physical body doesn’t want to cooperate? This side of heaven, our bodies are never going to want to do what we need them to do. So, we have to make a plan.
Do you want your life with God to get better? It's time to train your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Join us as we unfold how biblical leadership and parenting require a willingness to allow God to form us first.
God’s promise to us is that when we seek Him first, He will provide for all our daily needs.
We look at Jesus’ instructions to "seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness" to remind us that intentionally and actively seeking God gives life to our spirits, just as air gives life to our bodies.
Rather than let our triggers hurt us and others, we need to have the courage to allow God’s grace to make us whole, holy, and spiritually healthy.
God’s invitation to rest is an idea counter cultural to many of us. Does Jesus’ way of life still make sense for the modern world?
Now more than ever, we need to not only tolerate people but go a step further to love them.
Our identity, peace, justice, and joy are often based on how we look at our culture and determines who we are going to trust.
Our identity is often shaped by social media, lack of face-to-face conversations, and many other temporary, fleeting things.
We look at how Paul went from being called Saul to Paul. Being mentored requires humility, and mentoring requires obedience.
Pray for God to show you a person to invest in and find a person in your life and be a Barnabas, an encourager.
Who in your life shows good leadership? This week we look at three ways to identify what a Good Leader is.
When you're vulnerable in sharing their story, Jesus works in your life to change it forever.
What are the significant moments in life that become a foundational part of our stories? We take a look back to see where Jesus met us where we were at-no matter what, no matter where.
What does it look like to seek freedom and flee from slavery? We look at the slavery Jesus has come to set us free from, and the impact that it has on our lives.
No matter what you've done, no matter where you are, Jesus is for you. Looking at John 3:16, a cliché verse, we see that in God's great love he chose us. And in response, we, the Church, are called to choose, love, and serve others as well.
We are all called, male and female, to examine the voices we listen to and the things/people we use to measure ourselves; remembering our true identity can be found in the name of God.
Ben has us take a look at how we can avoid drifting apart from the people we love the most.
Jim encourages us to seek after God’s plan in relationships before we encounter the storms of life.
Ben teaches about Wisdom. Wisdom is defined as “the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise."
Jim starts off a new series in the book of Proverbs, unpacking how we can make the wisest choices for all of life’s decisions.
In order for something to live, something has to die. We look at the story of Jonah to help us understand what Jesus has done for us.
Ben wraps up our Storyline series. Ben talks about how all of the best stories include patient endurance: pushing through roadblocks, even when it's hard.
Jim's message this weekend centers around our need to be strategic in all our relationships; putting God first, family next, followed by friends. Whether a "good" or "bad" relationship, each holds the possibility of pulling us away from fulfilling our Compelling Vision—what God has called us to do.
This week we look at the relationship between Anointed Authority and Confident Humility. When anointed authority and confident humility are used together in our lives, we begin building better stories and step into who God created us to be.
We have all been anointed and chosen by God for His mission for us, and with that anointing comes the authority to carry out that mission.
Our lives will never really change for the better unless we take our compelling vision and relentless conviction and put them into action.
Before we can really start to live out our compelling vision for our lives, we need to learn how to overcome the obstacles that are sure to come. Jesus modeled how to effectively do this when He was faced with temptation in the wilderness. By identifying lies and replacing them with truth, we can overcome the obstacles that try to keep us from our vision.
This weekend, guest speaker Shawn Johnson, Lead Pastor at Red Rocks Church, reminds us that even in seasons of uncertainty, God has a plan for your life.
Put to death and get rid of the obvious things that are interfering in your relationship with God and with the most important people in your life.
Spiritual change and formation comes from God’s Spirit and is by God’s Spirit. We must cooperate and place ourselves in the best position to receive the powerful, working, changing grace of God.
Jesus promises to be with you in all things: good things, bad things, holy things, and sinful things. He will be in it with you, not causing sin to happen, but using even our sinful choices and the sinful choices and actions of other people to work through.
Let’s spend this year getting to know Jesus better and begin experiencing a life worthy of our king, Jesus, a life that is pleasing to God.
Jesus had to leave the beautiful and enter our ugly so that he can make all things beautiful again.
It feels like we are waiting for God to show up in our lives, but we have amazing hope because on a day in history, Jesus was born. He brought peace, joy, and delivered promises!
The purpose of our lives is nothing other than lining up our lives with what we find in the face of Jesus. We should be getting ready to meet Jesus face to face.
God knows what you need, and it might not be what you want, but it’ll be what you need.
Humbling yourself is the obedient choice to let go of the past in order to take hold of something new and better in the future.
Revival comes directly and proportionately from the posture of God’s people in humble repentance.
Marriage is an institution, for both the man and the woman, that is designed to show the world what God is like. Marriage is a covenant that can’t be broken without doing a lot of damage.
What if you approached dating as an opportunity to become a burden-carrier and find a burden-carrier?
Dating, falling in love, marriage, and parenthood don’t just build character, they reveal character.
We believe the best way for a person to be introduced to Jesus is when someone cares enough about their friend to invite them to “come and see” what Jesus is doing in their life.
We create environments and remove obstacles so that lost and broken people can bump into Jesus.
Spiritual Formation is the process or journey of rethinking and replacing our ideas, thoughts, and beliefs with what Jesus says is true, better, and actually works for our lives.
We believe that it is possible for every person to be forgiven and reconnected back into an intimate relationship with God by grace through faith.
We exist to bring the awesome life of Christ to a lost and broken world because that's what Jesus told us to do and Biblical Authority is our number one value.
Actively seek out the things you should be thankful for in life. Be obsessive in your gratitude.
You can run aimlessly or with perseverance. If we run with perseverance, we can be content with where we’re at in the race.
Joy is a feeling deep in the soul that comes from knowing that Jesus is still at work in our lives and in our world.
When the Lord is your shepherd, no one can take or end your life, because your life already belongs to Him.
You can look back on what happened to Joseph and what happened to you and see how God was faithful, but it still hurts. You can’t change what happened. You’re left with the question: what are you going to do now?
Because we believe that God goes with us, we don’t avoid or deny the impossible problems in our lives. Instead, we face them and walk into them with God.
Every member of the human race is an image-bearer of God and the perfect Kingdom of God includes diversity. The solution for racism in America will only be found in Jesus.
Faith comes from shared experiences over time as you are walking with God in the same direction. We look at Noah's faith when he was asked to build an ark.
Faith is the confidence that Jesus is who He says that He is and the assurance that He will keep every promise that He has ever made.
There is room for you in this world, and you are needed. Because Jesus is the light, you are the light bulb. So let’s get to work.
The condition of your marriage is a primary indicator of the condition of your relationship to God. Crisis doesn’t build character, it reveals it, so in this crisis ask yourself if you’re trying to get something from your spouse that you can only get from God.

While we're in quarantine, let's try to embrace the mundane and show grace in the insane.
What if in the midst of this strange season of life, God has lovingly hit pause on the madness of the old normal. What if God is trying to get our attention right now?
Faith is confidence that even in the chaos, Jesus is who He says He is and will keep every promise that He’s ever made to you.
Those moments when we go, “God, where are you?!” And the response is just silence, we feel abandoned. The word for it is actually forsaken. We feel like, if there is a God, he’s forsaken us.
Do the most important people in your life know that they matter to you, and that you care about their problems (big and small)?
It doesn’t matter how or why you got lost; Jesus is still looking for you, waiting for you, and he wants you back.
Jesus’ top priority is not punishment, it’s forgiveness. He has the road map to get us un-lost.
The key to a good life is that all of the pieces of your life come together and act as one. What is it that you really want for yourself?
Slow is Fast. The most important things that are built to last, always require you to go slowly.
Christmas isn’t magical, because magic can’t be explained. Christmas is a miracle, a time when God did the impossible. Christmas is about hope.
Just because your label feels true, doesn’t mean it is true. God sees through the label you’ve taken on, and He sees you.
Satan knows your name, but calls you by your sin. God knows your sin, but calls you by your name.
We are anti-heroes. We are broken, messed up people that Jesus will work in and through.
Women were created to co-rule with God and men as allied sources of strength and reinforcement.
You cannot move most mountains through will-power. There are some mountains that only move because of faith.
Forgiveness is a choice to lay down one thing in order to pick up and experience something better.
When God sees us, He sees sons and daughters; people that He paid a very great price to call “family.”
Weapons and armor, on their own, can’t do anything. You must actively reach out, pick them up, put them on, wear them, practice, and prepare how to use them.
If God is the one who defines what is true and what is a lie, what is your plan to be strong and fully armed so that you are ready to go to war?
Our sovereign God has commanded and empowered us to provide and protect all of the parts of His Kingdom that He has entrusted to us.
Let’s go back to the Operator’s Manual to rethink what it means to be a good, wise man, husband, and father, and start or continue building a home, marriage, or life.
Our Campus Pastors look back on the past few months of teaching from The Sermon on the Mount and challenge us to rethink our preconceived ideas about God.
Jesus gave us a goal, a purpose, a kind of life to pursue which is worth giving the rest of our lives to.
Offering forgiveness is about declaring victory. The only person suffering from the anger, hatred, and desire for revenge that I’ve directed toward my enemies is you.
What kind of person sees a legitimate need that they could meet and does all that they can to meet the need and more?
What kind of person would you be if your first response wasn’t to immediately hit back when you are hit?
God cares more about the kind of person that we are and are becoming than a set of rules.
What would need to change in me to give myself and my (future) spouse the greatest chance of experiencing a marriage that reflects what God originally defined as “very good”?
What would need to change in me to give myself and my (future) spouse the greatest chance of experiencing a marriage that reflects what God originally defined as “very good”?
Divorce is not a person’s biggest problem. Having a hard heart of anger, contempt, and uncontrolled, unchecked desires is the bigger problem.
We all want things that are good and righteous. We’re just looking in the wrong places.
We are not responsible for another person's response. We are responsible for seeking first the Kingdom of God, and His goodness.
Anger and contempt have a way of backfiring and hurting and destroying you to a much bigger degree than what you were hoping to inflict on someone else.
We do whatever we really want to do, and what we want to do comes from the overflow of our heart.
Grace is giving someone what they don’t deserve. Mercy is not giving someone what they do deserve.
There is no one who has sunk too low or who is in too poor of a financial situation that they are beyond the reach of God.
You might want to rethink how you think about everything, because there are no throw-away people in the Kingdom of God.
You might want to rethink how you think about everything, because there are no throw-away people in the Kingdom of God.
Look at the excuses or the rationalizations you are putting up right now for not stepping into a small group or circle as a strategy for aligning your life with God. It's a risk wether you join or not so choose the one that makes sense for your life.

We are to learn from Jesus how to align all of the parts of our lives with what Jesus says is true, not just believing the right stuff, but training to put the right stuff we’ve learned into actual practice in our daily lives.

Nothing changes without a vision for your life. But your life will not change until that vision is intentionally and strategically pursued (you decide to do something different).

Jesus died, so that we could be recreated and redefined. We are now the King’s sons and daughters.

How can we help each other get to know the real Jesus better so that we can become the kind of people He wants us to be?

We can’t all go to the mountains or on a retreat every time we want to hear from God, but we can find quiet places where we can hear better and intentionally go there.

Eternal life is knowing the one true God and Jesus Christ who He sent. It's built on shared experience over time and takes time and practice.

Instead of sprinting right into 2018 and risking burnout, we’re going to slow our pace down for a few weeks. We’re going to take a breath, celebrate some wins as a church, and fix our eyes on Jesus, so we can run the next leg of this race with perseverance.

The “con” behind the temptation is always the same; "You can’t trust God so do something else."
Sometimes, it’s tough to trust God’s grace when He makes us a promise but He doesn’t give us the details or the timeline.
Sometimes, it’s tough to trust God’s grace when He makes us a promise but He doesn’t give us the details or the timeline.
Sometimes, it’s tough to trust God’s grace when He makes us a promise but He doesn’t give us the details or the timeline.
Usually when we hear or bump into truth that we don’t like, we respond in one of two ways. We either embrace it and adjust our lives or we reject it and attack the one delivering the truth.
Forgiveness starts when you step into faith. But healing starts when you step out from your hiding places.
We have a dilemma: God demands perfection from us, but we’re incapable of being perfect on our own power. So what’s our strategy for perfection?
We are afraid of Grace getting carried away but that's what grace does, it carries you away.
If we wrap our minds around the magnificent fact that God created us and calls himself Father, will this help us trust him more?
Jesus was very clear about what reveals the presence and level of influence that the Spirit is having on a person who claims to be rooted in, filled with and producing good fruit.
When we are rooted in Jesus, we begin to see the world differently and begin to ask different, better questions about what is going on and what God may be telling us to do.
Faithfulness is a choice we make that reveals our level of confidence in who Jesus is and what He promises to do.
If we've rooted our lives in Jesus, we WILL grow. But it doesne't always feel like we’re growing. Why is that?
Jesus taught that, just like a good tree, what a person’s life is rooted in is revealed by the fruit that they produce.
Jesus is a good king who leveraged his strength and intentionally pointed his anger to provide and protect those he came to seek and save.
Jesus is always giving us what we need, the problem is we don't always know we need it.
Following the example of what Jesus did, Flatirons must remember that lives begin to change AFTER a person is accepted, friendship is offered and forgiveness is extended. It's Truth AND Grace.
Most of the time, we want Jesus to deal with the pain and urgency of the latest external crisis in our circumstances rather than address what might be broken on the inside of us. What if Jesus wants to deal with both?
We often create a picture in our mind of how Jesus should resolve the circumstances of our lives but Jesus has this tendency of doing things in unexpected ways at unexpected times.
God gives us markers to remind us that what was true about God in the past is and will be true moving into the future. So don’t be afraid. Go.
Begin training right now so that you can do in the future what you cannot currently do by direct effort.
You have been uniquely, strategically and specifically positioned by God to have a certain level of influence in someone's life.
It is time to get strategic and go to war FOR Jesus and FOR our friends and take back both ground and people that Satan has stolen who don't belong to him.
If we claim to be under the authority of Jesus, our Lord and Commander, then we must strategically engage in His mission.
If something is true, then it is true for all people at all times in all circumstances or it isn't really true at all.
Often out of very good motives we fall into the trap of trying to do the one thing we have no ability to do in the lives of our children.
When things get difficult and painful often our first reaction is to isolate ourselves. This is true in life, and especially in parenting.
When we live out of our identity as God's children, we don't try to get our identity from our children.
When you are facing something that you don't know how to fix, change or survive, what needs to happen for you to make it to the "finish line"?
Why is it that as soon as we decide to follow a new strategy, the road gets rougher before it gets better?
When the party is over and there is nothing left to look forward to except cleaning up it's easy to find yourself in a funk. The new year can feel much like that for many of us. What does the Bible tell us to do when we find ourselves somewhere between "unexplainable funk" and flat out depressed?
Christmas is a holiday full of style, but all the style is meant to point to the substance which is Jesus.
At some point in everyone's journey, their life will intersect God’s truth and we will have to choose if we are going to continue our current life or turn our life in God's direction.
A tree that has been chopped down no longer has hope of bearing fruit. Yet God brings life from dead places.
God uses the metaphor of a tree and a piece of red thread as one of his most common pictures of what He has done for us through Jesus.
Many times we mistakenly confuse the absence or avoidance of conflict as being the same thing as "peace."
The idea of taking off our masks of hypocrisy feels more scary than facing sharks, lions or jumping out of airplanes. But, there's more at stake if we don't.
If we're not ready, our enemy waits and watches for a weak spot then he comes at us in a very specific, calculating and effective way.
In order to engage in spiritual warfare we have to know who we are fighting against, what he is capable of and what he is not capable of.
Relational Evangelism. The primary way that God invites people to dwell in His house forever, is through the invitation of one person to another, saying simply, "Come and see."
Excellent Environments. We will create excellent environments that leverage everything that we have at our disposal so that more people can bump into Jesus and experience his truth, grace, goodness and mercy.
Gifted Service. Out of the overflow of what God has done in me, I "set the table" so more people can taste and see that the LORD is good.
Authentic Community. One of the ways the LORD walks through the valley of the shadow of death WITH US is by placing us in an authentic community of people to walk through the valley WITH US, too.
Intentional Apprenticeship. After I am saved by grace through faith, it is time to get to work becoming the person God created me to be.
Relational Intimacy. The LORD restores our soul back into Relational Intimacy with God.
Biblical Authority. While many of us like the idea of Jesus being our Savior, Friend and Comforter, thinking of him as the LORD, Commander of our lives, brings up some tension.
God as the author of life created pleasure and invites us to experience an abundant life.
Not only does God provide a path that leads to life, but He makes that path known to us.
While followers of Jesus are to help those around us who, like the man in the parable, have fallen into a ditch, we must work upstream to help prevent others from falling into the same ditch.
Two of our most overlooked neighbors are our immediate family members and the governing authorities that God has established.
What difference does being "saved by grace through faith" make in how you live out your everyday life with the people that you bump into?
No matter how you got to where you currently are, what if your life has all been leading up to "for such a time as this"?
Faith in God does not guarantee an absence of conflict. It guarantees more than enough grace in the conflict.
The Bible teaches that just because we can't see what God is doing, doesn't mean He isn't doing something and whatever God is doing is good.
The Bible teaches that just because we can't see what God is doing, doesn't mean He isn't doing something and whatever God is doing is good.
The Bible teaches that just because we can't see what God is doing, doesn't mean He isn't doing something and whatever God is doing is good.
Nothing can stop God from accomplishing His will but lots of things can stop us from having the life God makes available to us.
God can use anyone that He chooses, to do anything that He chooses for them to do, because God looks at the heart, not the external qualifications that we typically do.
The most important thing that a church will ever do is announce that it is possible to be saved by grace through faith in Jesus. After that, all things are now possible.
While it "takes a village to raise a child", nothing will ever replace the role of a parent in the life of their child.
God has not been silent about how marriage works best. It is up to us to pursue His plan or not.
There are two primary threats to our marriages: what we bring in from before we are married and what we allow in after we are married.
The reason that marriage and gender are under such attack in today's world is the same reason that they have been under attack since the beginning of time.
Too many of us have surrendered pieces of our lives and we don't know how to get them back.
To wrap up this series, Scott talks about how Jesus not only takes us behind the curtain but at the moment of Jesus' death the curtain was torn. (Easter 2016)
When Jesus rose from the dead, He proved that He will be able to keep His promise to give us an unshakable life inside of His Kingdom. (Easter 2016)
Everybody has a faith system that they lean their lives against. Some hold up. Some fall apart.
Confidence in yourself grows only when confidence in God grows. But how is that possible? (West Campus)
Confidence in yourself grows only when confidence in God grows. But how is that possible?

Jesus redeems (purchases) us out of slavery and into freedom. But, it is possible to BE free, and not ACT free.
Under the New Covenant, King Jesus gives us the power to put our faith into action and crush the enemy.
Jesus, as our Great High Priest, brings us into a right relationship with God the Father, and we find rest.
Many of us walk around with a profound sense of shame from the things we've done, the things we didn't do or the things done to us. How does Jesus remove our shame and make us clean?
Much of our lives are marked by a distinct sense of separation from our Creator. We might believe that He exists, but it feels like He is distant or like there is something in the way. What we need is someone to remove the wall, to take us where we could not go on our own.
Jesus taught that everything that we do to or with our bodies on the outside is a statement about what is going on inside our heart.
We must take an honest look at who we have invited to speak into our lives and shape our decisions.
Today, we will put our treasure (money) under review and the role that it can and can't play in our lives if we want to end up with what God described as a "life that is truly life" and not something very different.
Actions reveal what we truly believe. But, what if what we truly believe isn't true? Especially when it comes to who we believe that God is and who we believe that we are to God.
At the beginning of each year many of us focus on what lies ahead, what we want to accomplish or do in the future but it's vital that if we want the future to look any different from the past we must be willing to put our lives "under review." We have to look back before we can move forward.
Our final stop this Christmas weekend is the dining room where we'll look at the idea of "Food reflects a true theology of grace."
If a home is to survive the storms of "not enough time, not enough money, too much to do", Jesus teaches a principle of intentionally making room for someone else in your life that He really cares about.
Most of the time, our problem is not what happens IN the bedroom, as much as everything that we bring INTO the bedroom with us.
Parents are charged with the task of training their children to become the kind of people who are right at home in God’s kingdom.
The "Living Room" is a symbol of "living together." The problem, though, is too many of us have settled for something much different than "living together."
A home that will not fall apart must have protection, clear boundaries and distinct roles for each member.
If you were to complete this mission statement regarding the CURRENT state of your home, what words would you use? "As for me and my house, we ..."
Because of what Jesus has done for us we believe the most loving thing we can do for others is to go to them and invite them to come and see who Jesus is and what He has done for them.
Using our spiritual gifts, talents, abilities, resources, passions and creativity, we believe that it is our role and responsibility to create excellent environments and eliminate any and all obstacles so that people have the best opportunity to encounter (bump into) Jesus so that He can do what only He can do.
We are committed to being the kind of people who reflect both the purpose and the personality of Jesus by leveraging the gifts Jesus has given us for the benefit of others both inside the church and outside the church.
We believe that living life together in a safe "me too" community is the best opportunity for pursuing truth and grace through intentional apprenticeship to Jesus.
We believe that following Jesus involves implementing a strategy to enthrall yourself with God and eliminate any obstacles or responses that stand against God's good intentions for you.
No matter what you have done wrong, we believe that by grace through faith in Jesus alone, it is still possible to be reconnected back into an intimate relationship with God.
The Bible is God's Word and it is our authority for life. If we will adjust our lives (submit) to it, we will find a better way to live.
A man wisely engages in all that God has commanded him to do, empowered by the Grace of God.
A man is willing to perish to his own wants and desires to provide and protect the needs of others.
A man of honor spends his life on the things and people that matter most as God defines "most important."
Before anything else is in place, courageous submission to God's Word, even when it is hard, painful and inconvenient, must be the first characteristic in a man's life.
In this introductory message, Jim explains why we are doing another series on this particular subject.
Just like Moses, we all wrestle with voices and messages from our past that seem like impassable, impossible oceans of insecurity and self-hatred which will destroy us unless God, the great I AM, splits that sea.
Today we will take a time out to rethink and remember communion, a symbol of the event that made it possible for us to be free from sin and death to live everyday in the kingdom of the heavens.
The road to life, a life that bears fruit, a house that stands up, is a life that puts into practice (action) what Jesus says is right, true and better.
Jesus's definition of the Gospel, His message of "good news," was simply this: the Kingdom of the heavens is here and is available to any and all who will believe.
Right judgment is the ability to correctly judge a situation or a behavior without condemning people.
If we trust Jesus enough to remove our sins and reconnect us back to God, why do we not trust Him to be able to tell us the best way to live our entire lives?
The conventional wisdom of Jesus' day was that there were three big things someone had to do well in order to be good, to be enough. Jesus turns all three of them upside down and inside out.
While it's never "right" to do something wrong, NOT doing "wrong" things does not necessarily make a person "right."
In the kingdom of the heavens, Jesus is clear that we can expect all kinds of difficulties, but we don't have to be afraid of them.
The kind of king always determines the kind of kingdom, who is a part of it, and how it works.
If we believed that God's Kingdom was right here and available to anyone regardless of the circumstances of their life, good or bad... that belief, put into practice, would change everything.
Everyone has a strategy for life and that strategy will determine the direction of a person's life and how a person's life stands up under the storms of life WHEN they come.
Would your strategy for how you lived your life change if you really believed the same things Jesus believed?
There has to be a better way to live than continuing the cycle of "hurt people hurt people." Nothing changes until something changes INSIDE of a person, redefining what KIND of person they are. Once that happens, all things become possible.
What "kind" of people do we find in the bloodline of Jesus and what difference does that make today in people like us?
When we don't understand what God is doing and why He's allowing certain circumstances in our lives, it's very easy to become bitter and believe that God is not for us, but rather against us.
What would it mean to live in the constant thought of "Christ in you" and the reality that "God is near"? Is that still possible
Because of who Jesus is and what He has done, He is worthy of our recognition as first, highest and most important in our lives.
Value #6: Relational Evangelism. When something is effective, important and makes a real difference in our lives, we naturally share it with others.
Value #5: Excellent Environments. Creating the best opportunity for a person to bump into Jesus doesn't happen by accident at church, home or driving through town. It's time to be intentional. Otherwise, people get ambushed.
Value #4: Gifted Service. God is building a temple/body built on and made up of forgiven, broken people.
Value #4: Gifted Service. God is building a temple/body built on and made up of forgiven, broken people.
Value #3: Authentic Community. Pursuing truth together is the best opportunity for truly living out and applying that truth.
Value #2: Relational Intimacy. Through Jesus, it is possible to "get our stuff together" with God and within ourselves.
Value #1: Biblical Authority. We believe that the Bible is God's Word and has the ability to show us a beter way to live if we are willing to adjust our lives to what it (God) says is true and best. Our mission is to bring the awesome life of Christ to a lost and broken world.
Because of God’s "All the Way" kind of love, He sent Jesus so that we can have eternal life. Who is this eternal life available to?
What kind of love was Jesus talking about when He said that God SO loved the world? And, how can we know that God really does SO love us?
Today, we will look at what "kind" of love God has for us and what is possible because of that love.
Whether you are married or not you are fully known by God and you can know Him even more fully if you will remain with Him even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Even with the destructive presence of sin in our lives, it is still possible for a man and woman to be "naked and unashamed"; to know and be fully known.
There is a better way to deal with sins and mistakes than covering them up, hiding and blaming everyone else.
A marriage that "images" God well begins with and is reflected in a husband who loves his wife and a wife who respects her husband. Love and respect mean much more than we think, especially when we know what love and respect actually mean.
What if our masculinity and our femininity, our sexuality and our marriages, were meant to image and reflect something much more intentional and spiritual than what this world says that we are? What if you are more than what you thought you were?
Christians always live with the tension between speaking the truth and offering grace. What Jesus taught and demonstrated was that love always offers both.
Is it possible to be a part of a strong community where, no matter what a person is going through, the response from that community would be, "We gotcha"?
The Church at Corinth was living by the mantra "If it makes you happy do it. If it doesn't, don't. It's that simple." Paul in a very fatherly way confronted this mentality and pointed out how it was tearing their church apart.
What Jesus promises will happen SOME-day must make a difference in how we live our lives TO-day. We must hang onto Jesus and His Truth and we must help and encourage one another.
In His own words, Jesus has told us what it will be like when He comes down to take up both those who are alive and those who are dead in Christ.
What will Jesus find His people DOING when He returns like "a thief in the night"? (Endurance, Hope, Second Coming, Imminent, Urgency)
In this introductory message, every writer in the Bible made it clear that if "a day is coming" in the future, it has implications for how we live today.
When our contentment is tied to our circumstances, being content is the one thing we will never find.
Paul teaches that forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what lies ahead are the keys to knowing Christ more. Sometimes it's our past "wins" that are more difficult to get over than our past "losses."
For Paul, walking through what most people would see as losing was always the path to winning.
If we are saved by grace through faith in who Jesus is and what Jesus did for us, what are the implications for us in how we interact with people around us?
Because of what Jesus has done for us and what the Spirit is doing in us, we are free to live our lives in a way that reflects who Jesus is and what He has done.
Now that we have been set free and welcomed into God' family through Christ, why do we sometimes turn back to living like slaves?
Now that we have been set free and welcomed into God' family through Christ, why do we sometimes turn back to living like slaves?
God made a covenant with Abraham and an outward sign that He would set us free through Jesus. Somewhere along the way, things got "messed up."
Even though Christ has set you free, there will always be people and challenges in your life that will try to discourage you to give up.
Even though we've never been able to live up to God's standards we will often slavishly try to live up to them on our own.
We like to control our circumstances, so when we encounter wild, unpredictable grace, it's often offensive to us.
How do we pray when it feels like a wildfire just burned part of our life to the ground?
God uses unlikely circumstances and unlikely people to accomplish His purposes in His Church.
God is building a spiritual building out of us, living stones. Living stones are people that understand what Jesus has done for them, so in response, offer their time, talents and treasure so that more people have an opportunity to bump into Jesus.
God is building a spiritual building out of us, living stones. Living stones are people that understand what Jesus has done for them, so in response, offer their time, talents and treasure so that more people have an opportunity to bump into Jesus.
When a person puts their faith in Jesus, Jesus TAKES away their condemnation and GIVES them a new identity and the Gift of the Holy Spirit to teach them what that could mean in their life if they believed it.
Jesus, because of his sacrificial death and death conquering resurrection, is the only way for people to be brought into a permanent right relationship with God.
When Jesus started His church He gave us His Word, His Mission, and His Spirit to make it possible.
The countdown has ended and the event that will change history is happening. Everything changes. Nothing will be the same.
We all experience moments in life where we have to choose to press further into the difficulty, the pain or the fight; or run away, give up and quit.
Jesus has a conversation with some men who are looking for something very important in a king, savior and commander. Othewise, they will never follow Him.
When Jesus says, "Come and follow me", He is giving you an opportunity to join Him in the most non-boring, risk-taking, blow your mind, faith journey that starts when you say "yes" and lasts right on into eternity. Will you say "yes" or "no"?
When Jesus says, "Come and follow me", He is giving you an opportunity to join Him in the most non-boring, risk-taking, blow your mind, faith journey that starts when you say "yes" and lasts right on into eternity. Will you say "yes" or "no"?
You can learn a lot about who and what someone cares about by what makes them angry. Today we are going to see Jesus get angry.
As Jesus enters Jerusalem as a king, several things happen that many people missed because they were looking for the wrong things.
As Jesus enters Jerusalem as a king, several things happen that many people missed because they were looking for the wrong things.
In this series wrap-up, Jesus makes it clear who really understands, and who doesn't understand, who He is and what He has done for them.
Until we learn that our place in God' kingdom is based solely on something He gives us rather than on things we do for Him, we will never be positioned to reach out to others.
In one of the most famous stories that Jesus ever told, sometimes we forget who He was talking to and why He told the story in the first place.
Jesus makes it clear why He came and who He came looking for. And then, He makes it clear throughout His teachings, "If you understand what I have done for you, you'll go and do the same thing for someone else."
If God trusts a person with something that He cares about, God will also hold them accountable for what they did and did not do with what He gave them.
If Jesus is the good shepherd and men are called to be like Him, then it"s important to know how to be tender with those who are most important.
Not only is it important to know who and what to fight for, but it is important to know how to fight and what to fight with.
If you have any hope of seeing the people that you love experience the life that God meant for them to have, it is only going to happen if someone is willing to fight for it. Are you a man who is willing to fight for his family?
One of the reasons that many of us fail —- especially men —- is that we've been following a dumbed-down and incorrect version of Jesus that isn't really worth following. But, if we could see Jesus as he really is and if we could understand how Jesus really sees us, many of the problems and challenges that we face in our daily lives today could be faced in a new, better way.
When asked for a better way to pray, Jesus directed his followers to ask a better question; "What do YOU want for me?"
When asked to teach a better way to pray, Jesus taught that there is a better question to ask than, "What do I want?"
God's kingdom is both here now and not yet fully realized. In light of that, Jesus tells us to ask God for what we need for today and what we need for eternity.
When Jesus was asked a question, his answer painted a picture of a time and a place where God and his people will finally be together, forever, in the way that God always intended. Can you imagine?
Normally, our choices aren't between all good and all evil as much as they are between trying to determine what is important and what is more important.
What we choose to focus on reveals many things about how we see ourselves and how we see Jesus.
Mary is not better than Martha, Martha is not better than Mary...Mary just chose what is better. All things are important. All things are not equally important.
Many of us have gone down the wrong road. What needs to happen when we're laying by the side of the road "half dead"?
As we continue in the story of the Good Samaritan we will see ourselves in the lawyers attempt to justify himself, to give excuses and still feel like a good person.
In this story, we quickly meet a religious guy who asks a question many of us ask; but what if it"s the wrong question?
There is only one test commanded in the Bible to see if God is faithful and will take care of you.
Jesus describes what is competing for your faith and what has the potential to choke that faith out leaving your life"fruitless."
Jesus said a lot of things were true, better and led to life. Why should I believe what Jesus said, let alone, root my life in Him?
Don't be surprised when what Jesus says to do to experience a better life "doesn't work" when we put a list of "this deep and no deeper" limits on what he says needs to change.
Sometimes, when Jesus talks to us about what needs to change in our lives, it's like seeds falling in the middle of a busy highway.
Jesus makes the purpose of why he told stories very clear: "If people will watch and listen, I will heal up the broken, wilted, dying, dead parts of their lives."
Just like at a dance when there comes a time that you have to decide if you are going to dance or not, there comes a time to decide how you are going to respond to Jesus.
While Jesus invites us to rest in the middle of our activity he also invites us to regular, concentrated and deliberate rest away from our normal activity.
Jesus invites all to come to Him and if we will respond to His invitation He promises to give us something we desperately need.
The question we are going to look at in this series is, "How am I responding to Jesus?"
(Value #1: Biblical Authority) Putting into practice and adjusting your life to line up with what you have heard Jesus say and do is the foundation for surviving whatever storms hit your life.
(Value #5: Excellent Environments) Pushing through bad definitions of Jesus and church in search of what Jesus actually said and did.
(Value #3: Authentic Community) Authentic community, In order to be real and helpful, involves both being non-judgmental and from the right perspective and with the right attitude, judgmental.
Value #4: Gifted Service. We believe that working together, leveraging our spiritual gifts and abilities in a way that is consistent with the character of Jesus, we can accomplish the things that Jesus wants to accomplish in a way that is consistent with the way that Jesus would do them.
Jesus tells us that God knows everything that we need before we even ask Him. So if that's the case, what's the point of prayer?
A question that we must constantly ask is, "What is my motivation for doing what I am doing?" How one answers that question has more significance than what you might think.
Jesus sums up this whole section of his talk with the simple words, "Be perfect like God is perfect." What does that mean and is it really possible?
What happens on the outside is just a symptom or a progression of something that grew out of something broken on the inside. We have to do what we have to do, no matter how drastic, to address the real problem before it destroys everything.
Jesus makes it clear that it is possible to know that you are going to go to Heaven after you die but still live a "hellish" life between now and then unless you deal with the tough areas of anger and forgiveness.
Jesus didn't let go of any of what the Bible says, so if we want to be like Him, we have to hold onto everything He holds onto.
It is only out of the overflow of being at peace with God that we can truly pursue peace with others.
Once a person realizes what God has done FOR them, it leads to an outward demonstration of that changed heart.
Jesus teaches us that the way to inherit the good life is not through doing what we've been taught but becoming someone new.
Jesus says that everything starts by looking at the "empty" condition of your own "tank." Once you do, THEN, you can be filled.
Regardless of what happened in a person's life that left them paralyzed and trapped, Jesus asks one question: "Do you want something better?"
What would a person be willing to do so that someone that they love could get what they need so that they could be well? (Faith, Friendship, Come and See)
Because of what we've done and who we are many people think that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead is sufficient for everyone but them. When Jesus heals a man with leprosy he demonstrates that he came for the most "untouchable" people in the world.
Jesus changed everything on the cross and keeps on changing us from the inside out. (Faith, Forgiveness, Sin, Demons)
Today, Jesus heals a man's sick son which causes the man to become a believer. The question is, can we move beyond "seeing is believing" because things got better to "trusting is believing" in spite of whether things get better or not?
A time comes when everyone has to ask, "Am I going to keep doing what I was doing or do I want something better?"
We live in a culture of divorce. What did we go looking for and what did we actually receive?
When a man and woman decide to get married, what exactly are they promising God and one another?
Whether we know it or not, the big relationships in our lives tell a story. But what if Jesus could write a better story for us and the ones we love?
A look at the Reactions, Excuses and Defenses many of us use when Jesus speaks truth into our lives.
We are always seeking to find satisfaction, joy and perhaps most of all, our identity. Where can we find all of those things?
We are all looking for something to satisfy our thirst for deep and meaningful relationships. The problem is, many times, we go to the wrong "well" hoping to find what we're looking for. Because Jesus loves us, he's willing to say the hard things, even though, sometimes, we don't think we want to hear it.
Does God have a "naughty and nice" list and how does one get on or off of it? (Christmas, Nicodemus, Born Again)
This Christmas, there is something we need to do first. (Temple, Sacrifice, Money, Poor, Christmas)
Jesus saves the day for an unnamed couple at a wedding reception that runs out of refreshments and in doing so, reveals what kind of God He is. (Grace and Truth, Miracles)
Plenty of people are skeptical about who Jesus is or what Jesus did. One thing is undeniable: Jesus has impacted this world in a more significant way than anyone in history. Is there credible evidence that believing in and following Jesus is a good idea?
John had one purpose for his life and he used it to prepare the way for other people to bump into Jesus. (Faithfulness, Purpose, Hard times, Suffering)
Every choice we make, every decision we face is fundamentally a decision on who or what we will worship. (Worship)
While we may be tempted to do it, misusing God's Word to excuse or justify our wrong behaviors is never a good way to live. (Grace, Truth)
We will always be tempted to find a shortcut to get to what we think we need. Usually, that involves believing a truth that really is not true. (Temptation, Value, Identity)
All temptation can be seen as an attack or a failure to believe three key things that God has said about you. (Temptation, Baptism, Christian Life, Identity)
Not only has Jesus done the work that needed to be done in order to reconnect us to God, but He continues to do something on our behalf every moment of every day.
One of the descriptions of Jesus was that "He is Light." But what we will see is that light doesn't make any difference if it isn't received.
Many of us have settled for a bad or inadequate version or description of who Jesus was and is. Today, we will find what God has to say about Jesus and what that means for us.
The bad news is God does not simply overlook our sin, it must be paid for. The good news is that Jesus has paid for it.
Sometimes God covers everything in darkness, and it's just us and Him. Is He enough for us?
Even though God always is willing to forgive, that doesn't mean there won't be consequences for our past, bad decisions.
There has been a story that has been going on since the beginning of time and comes down to one question: Who sits on the throne of my life? It's more than a story. It's more than a question. It is a battle. A war. And, the winner takes it all. We are going to watch God and an earthly king go through 10 battles (plagues) to determine forever, "I AM king, and you are not." (10 plagues of Egypt)
In a day where we are all being compelled to achieve "greatness", is that a worthy pursuit or is there something better? (Moses, Joy)
The problem with the challenges we may face in our life, comes not from the challenge, but our failure to ask the right question. (Moses, Burning Bush, I AM)
When faced with a painful, scary circumstance, our decisions reflect what's going on in our hearts. (Moses, Faith, Painful circumstances)
God has been faithful to us. What if we took at least a baby step of faith and trusted him even more with the most important parts of our lives? (Faith, Flatirons History, Financial Stewardship)
In the end, God always keeps His promise to leverage whatever was meant to harm you for something good.
No matter where you are in life you have some power and some responsibility. The question is what are you going to do with it?
When life goes from bad to worse, can you hold onto faith? (Faith, hard circumstances, Steve Saint)
We all end up with in circumstances that we never saw coming. The question becomes do we continue to trust God in the midst of those circumstances or do we try to take care of things on our own.
We believe the most effective way of sharing good news is to share it with people you are in relationship with. (Value #6 Relational Evangelism)
Our best shot at following Jesus and obeying His word is to do that together. (Value #3 Authentic Community)
Jesus taught that we are all in the same boat and in need of rescue. (Value #2, Sin, Salvation)
Biblical Authority: hearing and believing the truth doesn't accomplish anything if we are not willing to adjust our lives and our course to what it says is true and better. (Value #1-Biblical Authority)
Life-changing moments only change our lives if we are willing to pay attention to what God may be trying to teach us through those moments. (Baptism, Conversion of Saul, Acts 9)
After spending three years with Jesus, Peter's life didn't change for good until something very important happened.
Throughout history, there have been certain moments and events that, from that point on changed everything. Things were never the same. In this series, we are going to look at several of those "from this point on, things were never the same" events.
Why do so many of us say that we want God to run our lives yet spend so much time arguing with God about how his plan won't work? (Faith, Second chances)
When it seems that we are stuck, can't break out or get away from whatever is holding us back, Jesus has a very profound question to ask us.
We live in a time when it's very difficult to take someone at their word. What does it mean to take Jesus at His word?
What do we do when following Jesus is something totally different than what we've ever thought of or considered before? (Nicodemus, Bad Religion, A better way, the love of God)
What is the next step for a man who wants to become the man, husband and father that God intended him to be? (Manhood, Marriage, Parenting)
Fathers (and Mothers) are called to love their families well. Start where you are. Do what you can. Do ALL you can. (Fatherhood, Parenting, Discipline, Forgiveness)
Fathers play a unique role in the lives of their children when it comes to preparing their children for life. (Fatherhood, Children, Money, Sex)
It's very easy for marriage to move from a great wedding day to a war. So how do two sinful people not only stay married but have a great marriage?
What are the key areas in which a boy must grow as he approaches manhood? (Masculinity, Maturity, Responsibility)
Many of us are hoping for one outcome, but, unknowingly, aiming for something far different. (Men, Husbands, Fathers, Community)
If the two deals on the table are 1) perfectly obey God's law or 2) Totally embrace God's grace, how should we respond to the gift ofGod's grace?
We all stand convicted and guilty before God based on our inability to live up to His perfect standard. The question becomes, what do we really rely on to be brought into relationship with Him.
In this short two week series, we are going to take a look at the excuses we use when what we want to do is in conflict with what God tells us to do.

God's ancient road from the creation of the world to a strip mall in Colorado is a long, long road.
We are all thirsty for something that will satisfy, the question is, are we drinking from the right water source?
The justice of God is described as a rolling river. His righteousness is a never-failing stream. What does that mean for his people?
We have become a culture bent on building everyone's self-esteem. Everyone gets a ribbon, there are no losers. What happens to our self-esteem when we come to terms with a very big God?
What do you do when Jesus gets in the way of what you want to do and where you want to run?
Every runner knows that food is vital to running a good race. If that's true in running, what should we be feeding on in our spiritual life?
"Come and See" is sharing good news with someone that you care about and inviting them to check it out for themselves.
If we want people to be able to "bump into Jesus" we have to be willing to get out of the way and pave the way for that to happen.
Jesus said that the proof of holding on to him is love and the proof that you love... is serving.
Jesus describes his community as a place where everyone who is searching for truth is welcome.
Why should anyone believe any of the teachings or promises of Jesus, let alone, follow him?
In this first series in this new building, we want to make sure that we remember who and what brought us this far...and who and what we need to be sure to hang on to as we move into the future.
As we move beyond treating symptoms to diagnosing our disease we've discovered that sin separates us from God. What is the cure?
Whether it's because of things we've done or things that have been done to us, we are all marked by our past. How do we make sense of the things that have marked us in life?
What if the "killer" is promising one thing, but delivering something very different and leaving you with...nothing?
There is a serial killer that most of us have invited into our homes. How do we get him out?
Sometimes, when the light comes on, it reveals "killers" that we didn't know, or want to know, were there.
If we have any hope of following Jesus consistently throughout the year, there is a gift from God that we have to make sure we open.
What if experiencing Christmas on Another Level is simply the first step in living Life On Another Level?
"Mean" means "average, typical, right in the middle." What would it look like to take a step towards something better?
What happens when a person has their "day in court"? Guilty? Not Guilty? Or something else?
We are all moving in a direction with our life, the question is are we moving in the right direction with each choice we make? Are we honoring and protecting what's most important?
While God will always forgive the humble man, unless that man learns from his mistakes, he is condemned to repeat them over and over.
What does it take for God to describe a person as "a man after my own heart"? Here's a clue: it doesn't mean "mistake-free."
Strength without wisdom is dangerous. When we allow our strength to be guided by wisdom we can look a lot like Jesus.
Because we have been listening to the wrong voices, the two things missing from many of our lives is a correct definition of who we really are and what we were meant to do.
In this introduction, we will look at the idea that two things must be in place in our lives.
There are few things in life with more potential to be used for good or evil than money. How do we ensure that money serves the purposes of God as opposed to us serving money?
We have a certain cliche in our country that sounds good: "Follow your heart." But where has that led us? Where is it leading us? Where will it lead to?
There's an App that you can use for every decision of your life and know that you made the wisest decision possible.
Value #6...No matter where this train is going or how great the ride, most people will never get on board until they hear one phrase, "Come and see".
Value #5...What would it look like to create a safe place where people can bump into Jesus?
Value #4...For this "train" called Flatirons to accomplish its mission, each part must help "carry the load".
Value #3...Our chances of experiencing truth and grace increase greatly depending on our ability to connect with others pursuing the same truth and grace.
Value #2...While holding to God's truth sets us free to have a better life, God's grace protects us when we fall short of that truth.
Value #1...Jesus taught that if we are willing to put ourselves under the authority of God's Word, it can lead to a better life.
This week we are going to watch as Abraham finally jumps and the story is not an easy one to digest. What if one of the most offensive stories in the Bible, was meant to offend us?
We live in a culture that values independence and self-sufficiency perhaps above all else. Yet when we look at the Bible we see an emphasis on the importance of recognizing our dependence on God.
Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God with ALL your heart, with ALL your soul, with ALL your mind and with ALL your strength.
Jesus knew that we would need more than "good teaching" to change our lives...so, He delivers on His Promise.
If broken people call on the name of the LORD and He answers them, then how do I do that? How should I talk to God?
Real faith (confidence that God really is good and keeps His promises) makes a difference in the way we live our life.
Many of us would finish the phrase "All my life..." with something like: "I've felt distant, cut off, separated from God". A lot of us have lived a long time with a deep sense that not only are things not as they should be but we are not as we should be. The question is, how do you really connect with God?
All my life I've been searching for something or someone to tell me who I am, what I'm worth and why I'm here.
We're building on truth, covering everything with love and getting rid of the junk. Now is the time to start filling up the house with good stuff.
With a foundation of truth below and a covering of love above, now is the time to start cleaning house.
If building a good life can be compared to building a house, then what's the equivalent of putting the roof on? What is it that provides, shelter and protection from the storms that will come?
The first question is not, "What kind of life do you want to build?", the first question is, "What do you want to build it on?"
Everyone is building something and everyone wants to build something good: plans, goals, relationships. The problem is, many of us have no idea what good looks like, let alone, how to build it.
If you watch the Olympics you will see people who have worked harder, gotten up earlier, spent more time and effort than anyone else in the world get rewarded for their efforts. That is the way many of us approach God. Many of us believe that the harder we work to be good, the more God owes us His acceptance. Is that what Jesus taught?
Jesus came to seek and save the lost. We all get lost at some time in our life, for different reasons. But, there is nothing better than being found. That...deserves a party!
Do you have anyone or have you ever had anyone in your life that you just don't like? You may have really no reason at all or you can't count all the reasons. What does Jesus have to say about those we marginalize because we don't like them?
As people, we have a strong tendency to be exclusive. To circle up with people like us and push others away. Jesus lived and taught something very different. He was incredibly inclusive. Jesus came for the sick, the hurting, the broken and the marginalized. He was also very clear that if we want to follow Him, we must do the same thing.
Creating Space in our lives means to intentionally do things today to be available to be used by God tomorrow to care for the things that He cares deeply for...the poor...and...the Gospel.
Everything in your life is important. Some things are more important than other things. Our "priorities" reveal what is important and what is more important.
In spite of our reasons and excuses, God can use anyone and everyone to make a difference that matters.
There has to be more to life than trying to stay safe until we die. There's darkness that needs to be invaded by light, bullies that need to be stopped, hurting and helpless people that need hope and lost and broken people that need to be rescued.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, lived, died, rose from the dead. Three questions for us today: So What? Now What? For What?
What is standing in the way of PB&J ("very good" relationships) becoming a reality in your life?
A lot of us have different experiences with this thing called fatherhood. With fatherlessness being an epidemic in our culture the question becomes, does the quality of our relationship with our father have any lasting or significant impact on our lives?
Peanut Butter and Jelly don't just happen. It is a long process of decisions, choices and hard work. Relationships are the same way.
We were meant to be ONE. The greatest enemy of our marriages and families is not affairs, addictions or mistakes. It is isolation from and independence of one another.
Now that we know what God intended when He made us male and female, and what He intended when he created marriage, we are all painfully aware that things are not that way. The question is Why?
What does God intend for two equal but different people when they come together in marriage?
Love and marriage were designed to be a complimentary relationship. Too often though, it ends up in a food-fight.
Faith is confidence that God is who He says He is and will do everything He promises to do...and asking Him if you can be a part of what He's doing.
God doesn't promise to give us everything we WANT, but he does PROMISE to give us exactly what we NEED the most.
The definition of faith is very simple and exactly what you need it to be...you can bet on it.
Faith that is built on our ability to understand our circumstances is a house of cards and eventually will collapse.
Praise and Worship: There aren't two more "churchy" words than those. What do they really mean? Does praise and worship only happen inside of a building? Is it only singing songs? Or could it be that worship for a very big God is a lot bigger than that?
When you find something good in your life...the view from a mountain top or a better way to live...the natural response is to invite someone in your life to "come and see" for themselves. That's all Jesus tells us to do.
Our mission is to create space and opportunities for people to "bump into Jesus" so they can work out their stuff together.
Gifted service is seeking God's will by using what you have and what you can do to serve the needs of others.
No matter what disconnected you from God, Jesus is the only path to reconnect with Him.
Like any map, the Bible is only as effective as our willingness to put ourselves under its authority and follow its lead.
Followers of Jesus can get caught up in being obsessed with outward appearance as much as anyone else. The problem is Jesus was always interested in living life from the inside out.
What does the Bible say about homosexuality? What are Biblical options for sexual expression for an unmarried person? (Scott's extended message at the Merge college-age service.)
What does the Bible say about homosexuality? What are Biblical options for sexual expression for an unmarried person?
Many Christians mistakenly lock God out of the most intimate parts of their lives and find themselves in sexual bondage.
The Bible says that Jesus came to set us "free". But, what happens when people start (mis)using what Jesus had in mind and find themselves all locked up with a new set of rules, chains and cages? This month, we're going to try to break free from some of these prisons that have caused some of us to be locked in...and some of us to be locked out.
You'll waste your pain if you don't start with one important truth: "God is good and you can trust Him" even when life hurts.
The way we think determines how we spend our time, and there is a way of thinking that will inevitably lead to wasting time and a wasted life.
An "unwasted" life is understanding that everything (talent) we have has been entrusted to us by God and that one day there will be accountability for what we did with it.
There is no worse feeling than coming to the end of something and discovering that what you were counting on, depending on or looking forward to couldn't - or wouldn't - deliver what you had hoped for. You've spent money, time and energy that you can't get back. Sometimes it's no big deal; a few dollars here, a couple of hours there. But, what do you do when you realize that you're wasting your life? Everything we have and do is given to us for a purpose. Jesus said there are two ways to live your life. One leads to total loss... waste. One leads to eternal life.
The most important organ in the body is the heart. If we get everything else right but miss the heart, the whole body falls apart. How does God "fix" our hearts?
So we've seen that God can use our past for good. But what does it take to get through each day? What can sustain us no matter what today or tomorrow brings? Jesus gave us the answer.
Our past is our past. Now, what do we "wish" or hope that our future looks like? Is it possible that God can take whatever is in our past and use it FOR us instead of against us?
Many of us have "inherited" traits and tendencies from our past. Some good. Some not so good. How can we use the good-and allow God to use the "not-so-good"-for something good?
When life looks uncertain, Jesus tells us what to do FIRST. This truth that He teaches applies to all of the other "most" important areas of our lives, including, our finances.
What do you do when your life or the life of someone you love is interrupted by depression?
There are interruptions in life that are fast, intense and scary. Then there are those that change the direction of your life. How do you live when life has been interrupted from here on out?
"Life Interrupted" asks the question, "what do I do now?", especially in the area of my most important relationships...my marriage, my romance, my best friend, my family. What do you do now when you get that 2:00am phone call that changes everything you counted on for life? (Psalm 119:25-32)
Hide and Seek. When you're a kid, it's a fun game. But, one day you realize that what you're hiding from...and what you're seeking...is much more serious than a game. Let's take it to another level. The stakes get even higher when you realize that certain things have been hidden from you...and...there's something, or someone, out there...searching for you.

This is the time of year when everybody is on the move. Some of us are trying to move up. Some of us are trying to move forward. In traffic and crowded malls, we wish people would simply move out of the way. The Bible describes God as a God who is constantly moving. Not changing. Just moving. Moving down. Moving things around. Moving up. The greatest example of this...Christmas!

Over the past months, we have been taking a look at the very first message that Jesus ever gave about what faith looks like. Now, as we move into the closing words, the question is...do you get it? In this series, we'll try to find out what it means to "get it" and if you got it...that's a good thing.

Jesus never told anyone to go and build buildings. He told us to go and build up people. He told us to love God and love people. He never told us to fix people, change people or save anyone. He told us to create environments and opportunities for people that we care about to "bump into" Jesus...and then, Jesus could do what only Jesus can do. Over the past years at flatirons, people who believed that this was true made sure that each one of us had a place where we could come and "bump into Jesus". Now, it's our turn. We're calling it BRiX-Building Relationships in Christ...because that's what it's always been about.

From the first time Jesus opened his mouth and began to teach about what it looked like to live connected to God, he amazed everyone who heard by using one word: BUT. Noone had ever heard anybody say the things he said. The crazy thing about it was that he didn't change anything about what God had already said, BUT he applied it differently. In this series, we are going to explore a few of those "but" teachings that kicked the religious world in the seat of its pants--and might flip our world upside down as well. So, whether we're "unpacking junk from our trunk" or "turning the other cheek"--one big BUT can change everything.

Hear no evil. See no evil. Speak no evil. These 3 Monkeys symbolize the idea that if you don't look at or listen to bad stuff, then you won't say or do bad stuff. It's kind of an ancient "garbage in, garbage out" teaching...just avoid the bad and that equals good. Simple enough, right? In this series we are going to learn that Jesus taught something far more challenging and extraordinary than just avoiding bad stuff.

It's summertime and that means BASEBALL! Peanuts! Cracker Jack! Home Runs! Remember...ROCKTOBER? Go ROCKIES!!! But whether you're a fan or not, whatever your game, everybody likes to win. Lots of times in the Bible, Jesus would compare things that people were familiar with to deeper, spiritual questions. That's what we want to do in this series. In baseball, it's easy to know who's winning. Look at the scoreboard and see who has scored the most runs. But, what about life? How do you know if you're winning in life? That's what we're going to try to answer in this series. Welcome to the game!

Most people like Him...or at least the idea of Him. Some would say He was a loving and kind man or a good teacher. Others would say he was some kind of prophet. Millions say He is God. But who exactly are we talking about? Are we talking about the gothic one we see in art? The one we see depicted in the movies or popular televions shows? The friendly on we find in the pages of kids' Bibles? The one they talk about on that religious channel? It seems that everyone has their very own customized version of Him. Everyone claims rights to Him. But who is the real Jesus? What would happen if we let go of all the different "jesuses" that have been molded and create by people and really met...Him?

Every commercial these days is pushing High-Definition products. New products are all claiming to be Hi-Def. Televisions, video... even radios are Hi-Def. If you are still watching or listening to anything less than Hi-Def, you are living with old technology. In the Bible, Jesus compared physical things to spiritual things. What if some of us are living our lives with old technology? Is it possible that too many of us are still viewing our lives through Old-Def...old definitions? And... is it possible that God is making available new definitions... Higher-Definitions? Is it possible to live life in Hi-Def?

Every day we all have choices and decisions facing us. Should I do this or that? Should I go here or there? Turn right or left? Should I quit or hang in there? Should I stay or should I go? And somewhere along the way, we throw up a prayer, "Hey, God, what am I supposed to do?" That's the million-dollar question we all want answered. So, how do we find the answer? In this series, we are going to compare something that we know a little something about...skiing...to something that many of us want to know more about...how do I know what I'm supposed to do? What's the answer? And...is that the right question?

Where are you sailing? How will you know when you get there? Is this really where you want to end up? The purpose of this series is not to make anyone feel GUILTY for what they have...that never helps anything. The purpose of this series is to view life through a different lens. To awaken GRATITUDE. Gratitude leads to GENEROSITY which leads to GOOD deeds...but, along the way, generosity can be ambushed, ripped off, "pirated" by GREED. Whether you end up in guilt, gratitude, greed or generosity, make no mistake, every treasure will be revealed for what it is and the difference it made.

Every year it comes around and every year we set new resolutions. Often they are the same ones we set the year before. What if this year we set one Resolution that's more important than all the rest?
You know that feeling when you walk from darkness into light? When you turn on the bathroom light first thing in the morning, when you step from a dark movie theater into the sunshine? It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust. It's uncomfortable at first because light totally invades and overwhelms darkness. In reality there is no such thing as dark, only the absence of light. In the Bible, John describes Jesus as the light that shines in the darkness that cannot be overcome. Jesus described Himself as the light of the world. Could it be that the birth of Jesus was more than just a silent night, but an aggressive invasion of light and hope into a world suffering from the absence of light?

Remember the playground? Monkey bars, swings, tag, four square, picking teams, playing kickball? The playground was a place of freedom after being imprisoned in a classroom all day being told to sit still and be quiet. Remember running... oops, i mean, walking, single file, quietly from class to recess... only to find that there were "Playground Rules"? Rules? Why? Why, in a place designed for fun and freedom would there be rules, boundaries, teachers with whistles? What's the point? In this series we are going to explore some of God's most famous "rules" and ask the same questions. Is God really into rules? Or is there something else He's much more concerned about?

In a world that is constantly reaping the fallout of broken relationships, we have no shortage of places to turn for advice in regards to what we do behind closed doors. We can call late night talk shows. We can peruse the aisles of any check out stand in any grocery store for advice on how to spice up our sex lives. We can watch it on-line, order it On-Demand, and read about it at length. What we do behind closed doors is more out in the open than ever before. Yet the fallout from relationships gone wrong is not decreasing even with the incredible amount of advice we are getting from all sides. Could it be possible that we are asking the wrong questions to the wrong people? Could it be that the One who came up with the idea in the first place has a lot more to say about what we do behind closed doors than we think? Could it be that God actually knows how sex and relationships are meant to work if we would only ask?
