No notes. No edits. Just another classic cousins chat. 🎙️

This episode, Ben and Kristy throw away the script and see where the conversation takes them. You've been warned!

From the incredible response to recent episodes with Kate Burridge and Mike Tomalaris, to Tour de France fever and Tadej Pogačar's incredible ride up Alpe d'Huez, there's plenty to unpack.

Kristy shares stories from her overseas adventures, including an unexpected meeting with UFC world champion Karl Amoussou and his family and three very unfortunate public travel moments you'll never forget.

Ben is lined up to attend the Monet to Matisse exhibition at AGSA, chats dancing robots, and those unique Adelaide and Melbourne must have items…also and we reveal where in the world you're listening from.

As always, it's relaxed, unfiltered, and feels just like sitting around chatting with family.

G’day and welcome back to Two Cousins One Chat and this week we are beyond excited to welcome special guest Professor Kate Burridge from Monash University to the podcast.

One of Australia’s leading linguistic experts, Kate joins us for a fascinating and hilarious chat about Aussie slang, shortened words like “arvo” and “brekkie”, corporate jargon, social media language and the phrases we all overuse without even realising it.

Plus… Kristy reveals the words she still can’t spell, Ben questions whether PowerPoint is where language goes to die, and Kate helps us unpack the everyday expressions that “get up our goat.”

Safe to say… after this episode you may never hear Aussie English the same way again.

🎧 Listen now for one of our most fascinating chats yet.

G’day and welcome back to Two Cousins One Chat. This week we somehow ended up talking about Aussie cash, coins and banknotes… Before that, we catch up on life in Adelaide & Melbourne, the AFL’s Gather Round, Ben's hard rubbish collection, Paris Roubaix, and our upcoming VIP guest and language expert Professor Kate Burridge from Monash University.

Then we get chatting about our Aussie money, the animals on our coins, waterproof notes, old ATM cards, hidden features on banknotes, King Charles coins, and the old tradition of coins baked into fruit cake. Yes ..for real!

Big shoutout to Margaret from Melbourne for winning our Aussie money quiz and Carlos from Laos for spreading the TCOC love.

G’day and welcome back to Two Cousins One Chat and by popular demand we’re back with Part 4 of “You Don’t Know Me – Truth or Lie.”

But first… a quick catch up from our homes towns of Adelaide & Melbourne. Ben’s in the Festival State where the Adelaide Festival has been in full swing and he's been attending all sorts of comedy events and Kristy’s been road-tripping through South Australia’s stunning Limestone Coast.

Plus…an incidental meeting with a TCOC listener in Melbourne, Sharon from Gozi & Pop a brilliant Melbourne artist, proving once again the world is a pretty small place sometimes.

We also drop a little announcement… Kristy is heading back to Adelaide soon so we can finally record an episode together in real life. We might even livestream it. No promises… but it could get interesting.

Safe to say… after more than 60 episodes of this podcast we’re still learning things about each other, this episode is a whole load of fun. See if you can pick the real answers before we do.

G’day and welcome back to Two Cousins One Chat and it’s time to crack open the 2026 Mailbag 📬🔥

After a quick weather update (its so humid), Kristy shares her recent trip down to Wilsons Promontory exploring the bike trails, pushing herself up the lookouts, spotting wallabies, wedge-tailed eagles, geckos and yes snakes. Fresh air and that Victorian coastal magic.

From there, we dive straight into what’s happening locally- yes folks there’s is a lot.

The Adelaide Fringe has officially kicked off, it’s the biggest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere, and brings incredible energy and such a cool vibe to the city. Meanwhile, Adelaide is now the new home of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, which feels like a pretty major flex for South Australia. Totally in Kristy’s wheelhouse she has a bit to say.

And of course, we couldn’t not talk about Melbourne’s iconic Moomba Festival. The parade, the fireworks, the waterskiing… and the Birdman Rally, where fully grown adults strap on homemade cardboard wings and confidently launch themselves into the Yarra River for our entertainment.

Then… the Mailbag opens.📬

Inside the Bag is:
• Ben’s “I’ll keep it short” speech’s (14 minutes later…)
• Rewards card checkout slow movers
• Train seat hoggers
• “I find that hard to believe” people

Send us your everyday frustrations because the 2027 mailbag is already warming up.

G'day and welcome to the very first episode of Two Cousins One Chat for 2026 🎉

New year, same cousins… and the realisation that adulthood is basically held together with safety pins, touch typing, and the occasional sewn-on button.

In this episode, Ben and Kristy look back at the life skills our parents, grandparents and teachers tried to drum into us and the ones we ignored at the time but now quietly rely on (like ironing, basic cooking, measuring things properly, and elite-level button sewing).

We also confess to the skills that never stuck, like tying knots, folding fitted sheets, giving directions, patience, navigation (even with a phone), and all the things we confidently said “yeah yeah, I’ve got it”… when we absolutely did not.

There’s nostalgia, laughs, Home Economics disasters, Swiss finishing school flashbacks, Australian Open vibes, and the comforting reminder that none of us really know what we’re doing…probably just like you we are just winging it slightly better than before. IKYKWIM

G’day everyone! In this episode of Two Cousins One Chat, Ben and Kristy are as Aussie as a sausage sizzle out the front of Bunnings on a Sunday!

Fresh off a very recent cousin catch-up in Melbourne with laneway adventures, Tims-toasties, and a bit of classic Gogg & McGoch in the Royal Arcade, they’re bang on headfirst into the weird and wonderful world of Aussie sayings.

🇦🇺 From “G’day mate” to “flat out like a lizard drinking,” this one’s basically a love letter to all things Aussie. 🍤 And of course… the big one: Throw Another Shrimp on the Barbie (even though we don’t say shrimp, we don’t put prawns on the barbie, and let’s be honest — it’s usually just snags or bangers).

Then they take things global with their top international sayings, attempting them in the native language (please brace yourself) before translating and rating their faves. Its a bit of a dogs breakfast but with plenty of laughs, a few linguistic disasters, its fair-dinks enough Aussie slang to last you ’til next Christmas, this episode is a bloody ripper.

You’ll finish it by saying “fair dinkum,” whether you’re Aussie or not. Honest that’s no bull!

And if you’ve got a cracking saying from your country (or your family!), jump onto the Two Cousins One Chat Facebook page, the cousins want to hear it.

Good onya mate. See ya next time!

In this episode of Two Cousins One Chat, Ben and Kristy are joined by one of Melbourne’s most loved artists, the joyful, delightful and always creative Anna Blatman 🎨

From her bold florals and birds to her uplifting motto “May your life be full of colour,” Anna’s art has inspired homes, hearts, and even school classrooms across Australia. From The Block to Officeworks and even our own social feed, her work is instantly recognisable.

Anna shares how she first picked up a paintbrush over 30 years ago, what still sparks her creativity today, and why she keeps her studio a strictly “no bad vibes” zone, even when she’s mid-brushstroke! Plus, we chat about seeing her art come to life in people’s homes, how school kids in Clare helped create something special, and what’s next in her world of colour.

It’s bright, it’s inspiring, and it’ll leave you smiling and perhaps wanting to paint your own masterpiece!

In this episode of Two Cousins One Chat, Ben and Kristy take another trip down memory lane and straight into the category of “I would never do that now” .

It’s all about the things we did as kids (or in our wild wild 20s) that we would just hands down never ever do now.

🚲 Kristy confesses to late-night bike rides with a dodgy dynamo light she absolutely hated, underage nightclub appearances, and even lighting her mum’s cigarettes as a kid (yep, different times folks!).

🍻 Ben admits he wasn’t exactly adventurous, but he did his fair share of questionable choices, from cheap booze binges and country road trips in the back of a ute (sans seat belts), to swiping ciggies from his teacher’s handbag. This is a true story!

Between recent holidays, Adelaide’s City to Bay run, and the new 36ers’ NBL season, the cousins warm up before diving into this nostalgic list of “absolutely never again’zzzzz.”

Of course with loads of laughs and a massive dose of “we sound so bloody ancient,” this one will have you cringing, nodding, and remembering your own “I would never do that now’s

P.S. We’ve got a special guest coming up next episode, the amazing artist Anna Blatman. Bright colours, happy vibes, and some creative inspo you won’t want to miss!

In this episode of Two Cousins One Chat, Ben and Kristy hit the research roulette wheel and swap topics for a deep dive, colds, sniffles, and all. Yes, we might have sounded a bit like congested detectives, but we powered through.

🎡 Ben’s mission? Crack open Australia’s love affair with all the Aussie Big Things, from the Big Banana to Ben's fav the Giant Rocking Horse and figure out why over a thousand of these massive icons have weaved their way into Aussie DNA.

🍺 Kristy’s challenge? Trace the history of beer. From ancient bubbling brews in faraway lands she struggles to pronounce to fancy craft beer culture and the frothy place it holds in Aussie hearts including the Aussie Shandy!

With a just a dash of research plus a few detours, this episode proves that even with blocked noses, we can still serve up peak cousin banter coughs and all!

P.S. who do you think nailed it? Let us know.

Welcome back to Two Cousins One Chat! In this episode, we dive into "You Think You Know Me But You Don’t Know Me Part 2."

We've walked this path before in Part 1, and now, despite being family, Ben and Kristy discover even more surprising things about each other. We learn about how Ben got into trouble at work and how Kristy was a first responder at Richmond Station.

After attending a local exhibition, Kristy kicks things off with some fascinating facts about her local suburb of Bayside, revealing it as one of Australia's most important fossil areas. This totally aligns with Ben, who has been binge-watching a Netflix documentary about Earth's great extinctions, although Bayside didn't get a mention!

July is a great month for sports enthusiasts and insomniacs alike, with both Ben and Kristy obsessed with the Tour de France and Wimbledon and still buzzing from their chat with Mike Tomalaris. Kristy shares her tips on embracing sleepless nights filled with sports and confesses her addiction to Tansy Forrest's hypnosis sessions. Ben admits that during July, he's also glued to the SBS coverage of the Tour de France with little to no sleep!

We also tease the upcoming series, "Spotlight on Community: Tell Me More!" featuring inspiring figures like Helen from Nhill and Wendy Bywaters and special guests from Ben.

Enjoy this episode and thanks for listening!

Today’s episode is our version of a Dr. Seuss story, it’s Oh the Places We Haven’t Been

Ben has lived in Adelaide for most of his life, except for 3 years in Melbourne which he calls the "Laundry Years" (this is a whole other ep), and Kristy in Melbourne.

When you've been in one city for a long time, people assume you've checked off all the iconic experiences that the city offers. But that's not always the case, so in this episode, we're here to share some of those iconic things you're "supposed" to do in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Nhill, but we've just never gotten around to it.

But why is that? Are we lazy, uninterested, or do we prefer avoiding touristy activities in our own town? Let's hear where Ben & Kristy are embarrassed to say they have never been.

You'll be shocked at some of the iconic local places we haven't been to.

Welcome to the ESON Games + the Unknown Stories of Adelaide and Melbourne

We are pretty excited this is our 10th ESON Episode and to celebrate we're going to have a bit of fun, and play our version of the ESON Games, think Hunger Games but only better.

Listen in as Ben and  Kristy both share 3 things about each other's town Ben - Melbourne, Kristy - Adelaide.

The aim is to try and stump each other with an amazing or unique and obscure fact.
Plus to make it interesting we haven’t told each other what we’ve found out, so it will be a total surprise. How well do you know your home town?

Kristy pulls out the big guns and brings in family to help win, but does she? Ben has activated all the Sound Effects known to man.

There can only be one winner, who will it be? Sit back and relax and enjoy the banter!

Welcome to a very special episode where we get to interview the interviewer.

Recently we had the pleasure of speaking with Andrew Kelso, producer and part-time host of the Breakfast Show at ABC Wimmera. When we asked Andrew if he’d like to be ESON he jumped at the chance!

We learn how Andrew got into radio and his love of community radio. He moved to the Wimmera for his job so he’s not a local but has developed a real love for the area.

Andrew is not only into radio but has a passion for writing and loves doing stand-up comedy.  He performed a sold-out season at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2017 called A Virtual Tour of Melbourne which combined his love for comedy and history.

He still loves comedy and does the occasional set at The Anglers Club in Hurstbridge, an event that he is one of the founders of.

We had such a great time speaking with Andrew, he is great fun, and we hope to speak to him again soon. Maybe to discuss our concept for Le Tour of Hindmarsh!

We briefly discuss the Tour de France, which both of us are HUGE fans of.
Although we’re massively sleep deprived, we’re committed to pushing through to watch the last two stages.

Enjoy this latest episode and thanks for listening.

Welcome to another episode of Either Side of Nhill with Ben and Kristy.

Both Ben and I absolutely love chatting about food, whether that is cooking, eating, or growing it, and it's obvious as we are constantly chatting about food, especially Fish N Chips!

So we decided to have a foodie episode but incorporating indigenous foods and cooking.

This time we are chatting with one of Nhill's finest local and indigenous food producers, Ni Ni Well's Matthew Koop. We enjoyed such a wonderful Fast Five chat with Matthew, learning about his sustainable farming methods and how his hobby turned into producing and supplying Quondongs, Muntries, and Wattleseed to some of the world's finest restaurants.

Also, we spend a lot of time laughing and getting to know Jodie-Anne Barlow, who not only is my old high school buddy but also the producer of the upcoming TV show "Champagne Food on a Beer Budget", with husband Mick and also featured on My Kitchen Rules and Ready Steady Cook. What a cracker of a chat and you will just love Jodes and her special recipe too, which I am going to make!

Gday and Welcome to Episode 2 of Either Side of Nhill

With Kristy in Melbourne and Ben in Adelaide, Nhill is our unofficial halfway mark, not sure if that is correct however in our family it’s halfway.

We talk about all the great stuff going on in our hometowns and of course focus on the fabulous town of Nhill and the Wimmera, which has so many hidden treasures which we are having so much fun discovering.

In our second episode, it’s Summer in the City. We talk about our Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Australian Open, the Adelaide International, Adelaide’s Festival of Cycling and Ben is getting excited about the Fringe coming in February.

We talk about our favourite street art including the incredible mural of Ash Barty and Dylan Allcott at Dendy Park Tennis Club.

Ben’s favourite street artist is Elizabeth Close, an indigenous artist who has some amazing public pieces around Adelaide and the regions of South Australia.

We are both big fans of sausage rolls, and after Kristy’s 12-month sausage roll hiatus, she is ready to get back on the wagon. Hear our favourite picks and see if you can do better!

Our newly minted ‘Man on the Ground’ in Nhill, Matthew Koop (Koopie) gives us his top 4 picks for sausage rolls in Nhill, just another reason why we will definitely be going there soon to record an episode or two.

Enjoy the fun and head to our Instagram page @eithersideofnhill3418 to let us know your favourite things to do in summer, your favourite sausage roll or coffee spot, or share some photos of Nhill, we would love to see them!
