After the most traumatic of weeks for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola found a silver lining as his side took full advantage after Liverpool's draw with Tottenham to go 3 points clear at the summit of the Premier League as well as take a 4 goal advantage in goal difference. The draw for Tottenham, although good in the grand scheme of things, saw them fall further behind Arsenal but do still have the ability to close that gap when the sides meet this week. Gabriel Jesus stole the headlines this weekend with a four goal and one assist haul against struggling Watford to keep Manchester City top of the table. Water is wet, fire burns and Watford sack managers. Claudio Ranieri was the latest to face the axe at Vicarage road after a chastening 3-0 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Norwich, who seem to have found a new lease on life after back to back wins. In their way however are nouveau riche Newcastle who got all three points against Leeds at the weekend. Everton's sacking of Rafael Benitez did not have the desired bounce they were hoping for and The Toffees could now find themselves in a real battle should results fail to arrive. Burnley managed to claim a big point away to Arsenal, but a lack of goals upfront is a problem that must be addressed.

After a tepid display against runaway leaders Man City, Chelsea's focus now must surely be on keeping the chasing pack at bay. A brilliant Kevin De Bruyne strike sealed the points, but the performance of his Belgian teammate, Romelu Lukaku, left alot to be desired. What a week of football as a truly manic transfer window continued to blow our minds. Cristiano Ronaldo re-joined Manchester United in a deal that seemed to manifest in the blink of an eye while results wise, Liverpool could not break down a resolute Chelsea and Champions Manchester City demolished an Arsenal side that looks bereft of confidence and ideas at the moment. It's indeed been a messy transfer window, with clubs seeming waiting on each other to pursue deals of their own. With a few more weeks before the window shuts, we still expect a few twists and turns.
