Because public schools receive reduced funding in comparison to private schools, their students are not only limited academically and emotionally but also socially. The cost of school lunches and uniforms has strenuous effects on the families that are left to fund such expenses, especially due to the pandemic. Black and Brown communities struggle disproportionately to account for these costs.
