Continuing on with my series on political ideology, in this episode we touch on the political compass and it's influence on modern political categorization. We also talks about what works and doesn't work about the compass. In addition, I attempt to break down political belief systems/ideologies to show that all ideas have origins, influences, and off shoots. Labels are overrated, and beliefs and ideas are complicated, so let's see how far down this rabbit hole we can go.

Does measuring political groups and ideas by left and right wing, or even "liberal" or "conservative" really work? Does it bring a deeper understanding to our political beliefs concerning ourselves and others? I'd say no, and mostly because it's a lot more complicated than that. So why doesn't it work? It mostly comes down the the origins of these ideas. Join me as I elaborate on where the concept came from, why it doesn't work, and begin to try and think on alternatives.

The term "living wage" has been thrown around a lot in discourse, especially over these past few years. As the U.S. and much of the world faces economic uncertainty amidst inflation, price increases, and recovery from the SARS pandemic, what better time to discuss wages and attempt to understand how workers get paid, and examine what we may be doing wrong, and could possibly do better concerning the future of the work force.
