KVRX is the student‐run radio station at the University of Texas in Austin. This podcast feed will feature everything from artist interviews, live show recordings, album reviews and much much more. We solemnly swear to bring you the best music that you didn't know you loved, or remind you of your favorite songs that you won't hear anywhere else.
We share the frequency 91.7FM with KOOP radio. KOOP during the day, and KVRX is on at nights – 7PM to 9AM on weekdays and from 10PM to 9AM on weekends. We also stream 24/7 here on our website, kvrx.org.

Continuing to focus on ethics, this week DJ Geist and Demorgans will discuss the ethics of the popular German philosopher Immanuel Kant. This will be the last ethics that we cover this semester and daardoor we will be spending some time looking back at the four philosophers systems of ethics that we have covered this semester and giving some comparison and contrast!
This week we are going to be covering more refined topics in ethics. First, we will cover DJ Geist's term paper outline that is going to discuss the conceptions of flourishing in the ethics of Malebranche and Aristotle. In the back half of the show we will discuss DJ Demorgans term paper outline. He will be writing on the value of Hume's concept of Benevolence and defending why it cannot be coupled under the conception of self-love as Hobbes terms it.

This week we push on with our analysis of Aristotle and begin to brainstorm ideas for DJ Geist and Demorgens upcoming group project. The project being focused on Aristotle's virtue of magnificence we clarify and critique this virtue from an Aristotalian perspective and consider some possible re-interpretations that might make this a satisfactory virtue to hold in an ethical system.
Continuing our focus on Aristotle’s ethics we cover LA Kosman’s “Being Properly Affected”. In this paper Kosman introduces his idea that we choose the emotions we feel by expanding the definition of “choice”. This is then paired with the virtues of Aristotle to make for a voluntary and ethical analysis of feelings as well as actions. Enjoy this episode as it foreshadows a return to our hardcore philosophy roots!

Featuring special guest DJ Maddawg and DJ Paperview we cover more information on Aristotle’s virtue ethics and some objections that DJ Demorgens has in particular. This week DJ Geist and Demorgens welcome back one another from a LONG Christmas break. We will discuss classes this semester, what we did over the break as well as some of Aristotle’s ethics. This will be the first in the semester long series where we cover various different ethical works.
This week DJ Geist and DJ Demorgens will be working their way through Gillian Russell's "Logical Nihlism: Could There Be No Logic?". This paper is an impetus for DJ Demorgens Senior Thesis that he will be writing next semester. Russell posits in this article that there is possiblity that, among the possible metaphysically true logics, no logical independently existent logic actually exists.
This week we are going to start of by circling back to the Clyde Taylor paper, "Black Cinema and Aesthetics", that we did not have a chance to get to. After that we are going to work through as much of John Rawls' "Justice and Fairness" as we can. Craig Casler talks to the lead singer from the Austin band, Indoor Creature, to discuss their upcoming album, “Living in Darkness”, set to release later this year. They discuss how the band formed, their unique approach to lyrical topics, the creation of their upcoming album, and the filming of their latest music video for their most recent single off the new album, “Ocean Blue”.
After discovering “God Only Knows” in 1966, Margo Guryan, a schooled jazz pianist who was taught by Bill Evans and Max Roach and studied alongside Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry, decided to craft sunshine and baroque pop gems of her own. Her songs were recorded by artists such as Glen Campbell, Astrud Gilberto, Harry Nilsson, and Cass Elliot, and in 1968, she released her first and only studio album Take a Picture, which became a cult classic since its release and has influenced artists such as Belle & Sebastian, Beck, Cornelius, Sidney Gish, and Bedouine. DJ Zenner and Jack Kelly caught up with Margo via phone call to discuss her jazz roots, her friendship with Harry Nilsson, and her advice on life and love.
